ART T C E J PRO Judy Chicago, born in Chicago in 1939, is an artist, educator and American writer who began to draw at 3 years and decided to devote herself to art when she was only 5. In the 70’s she designed her great project, “The Dinner Party”, recreating an imaginary dinner for famous women. It was formed by an equilateral triangle with 39 place settings, dedicated to distinguished women. It has inspired our little Infant education artists in our Food Project “Colorful tastes”.

M U E S U M E AT TH I5A had a workshop at the Reina Sofia Museum. We played with different objects and admired three masterpieces which had the same objects we had been playing with! Learning through play.

AT THE ZOO

Last week the I5 classes had a school excursion to the Madrid zoo. We have learnt in class about the human body and what we eat. On this visit children saw first-hand what the eating habits of many different animals are. We saw sea lions, they eat meat and are called carnivores. There were deer that only eat grass and they are called herbivores. And bears eat both meat and vegetables and are known as omnivores. There were many species of animals at the zoo but dolphins were the stars of the day.

On the first days of September we had in IA the presentation for the House Competition Project. Four houses are competing for a dream! WATER, FIRE, AIR and LAND. Every student belongs to a house, which has got two captains who are in charge of their house. The goal is to get as many points as you can for your house. What do we have to do to get points? Behave properly, work hard, dress code, fellowship, take care of material, keep the playground clean, eat your food, be polite. At the end of every month, we will count the points, and the winner house will get a special price. Remember: if you don’t follow the rules, you will get black points for your house! Are you ready? On your marks, Get set, Go!

CAMBRIDGE AWARDS On the 29th of September we had the honour to present IA CAMBRIDGE AWARDS, to those students who did the Cambridge Exams. We are very proud to announce that there were a total of 125 pupils and the pass rate was 93%. In speaking and listening skills all of our students passed with a maximum grade. Congratulations to all of you for your hard work and consistency! Ms Chris.

SMO THIE S Our theme in Unit:1 was “Let’s eat”. 4º EPO made delicious smoothies made out of fruit and milk. All the groups came up with original names. IA students had a great time making and tasting them!

12

OUR CLOTHES Since we are talking about clothing in Unit:1. IA students decided to bring in the type of clothes that they normally wear on the weekend. For the class presentation each student had to describe what type of clothes they were wearing. Epo really enjoyed themselves and they even did a cat walk at the end of the presentation. Ms Chris & Ms Simona

T-SHIRT DYEING Since we were working with clothes and materials in Unit:1, 5ยบEPO had the great idea to dye t-shirts! In the beginning the process was quite easy until we decided to mix colors. The final result turned out brilliant and our students had a wonderful time.

KAREN’S NEWS After learning in unit 1 how volcanoes and earthquakes are formed due to the tectonic plate’s movements, 6º EP developed a project to express all they had learned about the topic. One of the 6º grade students made with foam rubber the different layers of the Earth (crust, mantle, core…) as part of her project to show the class why the tectonic plates move. The link for the video is available in the school webpage.
