As the illustration industry has been around since pre-Caxton monks penned illuminated manuscripts with coloured inks, there is a wealth of visual history. The solid base of the world of illustration is akin to the rocks in the description of the word regolith, and, as with all industries, a covering of dust has settled on the sector over time.
