Agfa continue with acetate production
Following our article, ‘Acetate slowly continues to disappear’ on page 26, issue II which reported on the demise of yet another (and possibly the most important) acetate product from the Kodak range of films, Agfa have been quick to react and have now issued a statement enforcing their claim of a policy of continuing to provide those products required by the customer. Currently competition for film sales is very fierce, so it is all the more refreshing to hear that a company like Agfa still puts their customers’ needs as top priority. It is, they say, for this reason that they will continue to produce acetate film in both medium and fast speeds. Although acetate is slightly more expensive than polyester, as pointed out in the aforementioned article, Agfa’s equivalent to Kodak’s 7460 acetate film at £4.21, is, according to Agfa, still cheaper than Kodak’s 1460 polyester film which sells at £4.40. Anyone wishing to try Agfa’s acetate film or requiring further information on any other type of film from their extensive range should contact:-

The Microfilm Shop - Replacement Lamp List
The Microfilm Shop has 9 pages of information about replacement lamps for all types of microfilm equipment in their Almanac and Price List. This is an invaluable help to end users who want to order replacement lamps for their readers and reader/printers and are not able to specify the exact lamp that is required. The Microfilm Shop has pointed out that trying to keep this list up to date is very difficult with so many new machines coming onto the market. Any manufacturer or supplier who would like to let The Microfilm Shop have details about the replacement lamps to go in their equipment can be assured that this information will be immediately put in the latest edition of the Almanac.

New, improved DAO Camera
Elke Microforms of Watford have announced a new, improved version of their already well established DAO 35mm microfilm camera. The main basic difference is that they have now fitted onto it a bought-in PC with screen, that drastically simplifies both the construction and the operation of the camera. The cost savings on construction and maintenance will be passed on to the customer and the ease of operation should have the effect of cutting down waste, thereby proving even more economical than the earlier model, which was itself very user friendly. This new camera boasts all of the exclusive features of the previous model but can also, due to the sophistication of the supplied Elke software, print directly onto the aperture cards or jackets at the time of operation. It produces a list of the work done and, to make costings even more accurate, gives a count of the total number of digits used. If it is more suitable for your system, there is an option to do the indexing etc. away from the camera on another PC. There is also a built-in hopper feed facility that will take up to 100 aperture cards.

16mm/35mm Piazo Roll Film Duplicator

THE VERSATILE RB20
T h e RB20 Is a versatile yet sim ple to op erate table top d u p licator fo r th e co n v e n ie n t du p licatio n of both 16mm an d 35m m d lazo roll film duplicates. Amongst its many attributes are tw o unique features. Firstly, the exposure system which has no glass drum or tensioning belts thus ensuring high quality copy, precise film tracking and edge registration, minimum master film fatigue and greatly reduced servicing requirements. Secondly, the image development process uses only very low pressure ammonia vapour eliminating the need for the potentially hazardous connection of high pressure gas cylinders and equally hazardous pouring and loading of ammonia solution into the machine. Every duplicating cycle is automatically controlled thus permitting unattended operation. The RB20 is ideal for medium volume users requiring a fast start diazo roll film duplicator for continuous or intermittent use. Typical production speed is 6 minutes per I OCT |30m) of film dependant upon master film density and copy film type. No film splicing or splitting is required. Accurate speed and temperature controls enable duplication from a wide range of master film densities onto various colour diazo films with repeatable consistency of quality. Designed with the operator in mind the RB20 has many useful operating features so far unavailable to microfilm users. D istributed by
