Interjet

Aeromexico In total, Aeroméxico transported 243 thousand passengers in June, a drop of 86.1% in the interannual comparison. However, this figure also resulted in an 80.7% increase compared to May 2020. Source: Aerolatinnews (News Site). The airline proposed to charge the Covid-19 test in the price of tickets, since they have been evaluating the possibility of being able to provide it to their customers. The way, as they mention it, would be through IATA, recommending that the agency put the cost on flight tickets, which the passengers themselves would have to pay as if it were another tax, but IATA did not approved. Source: Ladevi (Newspaper).

The airline reported that it received a capital injection of $ 150 million USD through an investment fund with which it seeks to strengthen its operations as the sector battles the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic. They also announced that the group of investors is headed by businessmen Carlos Cabal and Alejandro del Valle, and that its current Chairman of the Board of Directors, Miguel Alemán, will continue to lead the company. Source: Aerolatinnews (News Site).

Emirates Emirates is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, and that is why it has decided to extend the temporary suspension of its operations from Mexico City to Dubai via Barcelona until August 31. Existing bookings through August 31 can be modified to fly from September 1, 2020. Source: Pasillo Turístico (Trade Media).

Likewise, it will connect through 381 flights to the cities of Morelia with Tijuana, Oakland and Chicago, and to Uruapan with Tijuana. Source: Pasillo Turístico (Trade Media).

Viva Aerobus

In order to provide more possibilities to access air transport and take care of the economy of its passengers, the airline created the ‘Zero Rate’ and launched the new payment alternative ‘YOUR Ally’. In order to provide safe, secure, efficient and reliable travel, Air Canada announces new biosecurity measures on its flights, airport contact points and on-board services, which include new processes in reservations, documentation, check-in, as well as improvements in the CleanCare + program. Starting July 1, it will replace its policy of ensuring that adjacent economy class seats are empty with a new transparent process that offers customers flexible new booking options. It has also implemented the TouchFree baggage check-in system, an industry-leading process for all domestic flights from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary airports. Source: Aerolatinnews (News Site).

IATA

Delta Airlines Delta Air Lines recorded its worst loss since 2007, warning that bookings are declining as covid-19 cases increase, forcing the airline to cut its hours again. The company had planned to add 1,000 flights per day to its August schedule, as Delta and other airlines reported a modest recovery in traffic in June and July. However, it will now add just 500 as coronavirus cases in the south increase and quarantine rules have been established for travelers to the northeast. Source: Aerolatinnews (News Site).

Mexico´s Media Overview

IATA has again called on the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean to support the aviation industry, both in providing financial support and facilitating the resumption of service. An IATA analysis estimates that airlines have consumed cash reserves of $61 billion USD in the second quarter of this year alone. Therefore, governments must urgently provide economic support, which, especially in this region, has been extremely scarce. Globally, government aid totals $123 billion USD, equivalent to 14% of total airline revenue in 2019 ($838 billion USD as a base). Source: Invertour (Trade Media).
