Greetings folks, you’re very welcome to Edition 86! With the summer drawing to a close we hope you’ve all had a really great time over the last few months despite the stop start weather. If you’re going back to school we hope you enjoy the year ahead and if you’re a parent we hope you enjoy the new found peace and quiet! In this edition we have an interview with model, food blogger and writer Roz Purcell where she discusses the success of her first book ahead of her appearance at the Red Line Book Festival in October. The secondary interview is with local musician and rising star Rocstrong who has just released his debut EP. He tells us all about how one of his tunes ended up in a major Hollywood movie and how he had to deal with the recent loss of a close friend.

As always we have our eight page Square Section as well as the latest news and reviews from movies, to cars, music and video games for you to enjoy and peruse at your leisure! Finally, our much loved colleague and number one (sorry Ed!) graphic designer Gwen Cotter is moving on this month and we all want to say it’s been great working with her. We also want to say a massive thank you for everything she’s done throughout her six and a half years with the company during which time she helped design 86 editions of InTallaght Magazine. Cheers Gwen, you’ll be missed, the very best wishes for success in your new job from all of us. Until next time readers.

NEWS GOVERNMENT STOPS GOAL FUNDING AFTER FRAUD ACCUSATIONS BY PADRAIG CONLON

RESERVOIR GETTING NEW ROOF TO PROVIDE PROTECTION FROM BIRDS NOT ISIS BY PADRAIG CONLON Irish Water is denying that they are putting a roof on a Dublin reservoir amid fears of a terrorist attack. Following the announcement that Stillorgan Reservoir is to get an €80million upgrade from Irish Water many media reports said the reason behind the revamp was to prevent it becoming a target for terrorist attacks. Irish Water however has said the Stillorgan facility is only one of two reservoirs in Ireland that is not yet covered and it was now time to get a roof on the facility. At the moment drinking water for the southside is processed mainly at the State’s largest water treatment plant at Baltimore Eustace in Co Kildare,

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL BAN THE USE OF WILD ANIMALS IN CIRCUSES BY KELLY EVANS Yes! The use of wild animals for entertainment in a circus has now been banned in Dublin due to a vote. The motion proposing the ban was put forward by Sinn Féin Councillor Noeleen Reilly.

before being piped to Stillorgan. However, after having undergone expensive treatment at Ballymore Eustace to ensure it is fit for human consumption, the water then sits in the open air in three large reservoirs in Stillorgan before being piped into homes. Head of Major Projects at Irish Water Geoff O’Sullivan said: “There’s birds flying over it all the time, with the obvious consequences there, and if a cat or dog dies, it could well end up in there. And in the summer there are times when people break in to have a swim, so there is a risk of contamination.” The water in the reservoirs is treated with chlorine and ultraviolet light before it is sent to homes, which reduces the risk of contaminants entering the system, but Mr O’Sullivan said this is no longer considered an acceptable solution.

The Animal Rights Action Network’s spokesperson, John Carmody said: “Thanks to the progressive views of Councillor Noeleen Reilly and those who voted yes at Dublin City Council to the motion, we are now steps nearer to a national ban on the use of animals in Irish circuses.” The move means circuses using wild animals such as elephants, lions, hippos, camels, horses, crocodiles and tigers will not be allowed to use public land within Dublin. The DSPCA have welcomed the news, saying that the use of wild animals “is not necessary to entertain.”

Allegations of fraud at GOAL have led to millions of euro in funding being withheld by the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Government, which supports the aid agency, is waiting for the outcome of an American investigation before handing over any more money. GOAL is accused of being involved in a bribery scandal involving humanitarian contracts in Syria. It says that the US investigation does not relate to its Irish branch. The investigation has led to GOAL and a number of other agencies operating in Syria being forced to stop their operations after the US government’s foreign aid arm, USAid, found a number of documents showing alleged bribery and bid-rigging. The enforced suspension affects about €6.2 million of the €113 million GOAL receives from USAid. The Department of Foreign Affairs response is to withhold €2.95 million in humanitarian funding earmarked for GOAL, until the US government suspends its investigation. GOAL CEO Barry Andrews says they cannot guarantee everything is above board, despite their best efforts.

maybe more, I love coming up here. I’ve been coming to The Square since it opened, I live on my own so I love to get out and about during the day. I’ll come in here and maybe mosey about and see if there’s anyone around I know or I used to work with, I have some pals from around here, I like Tallaght people, they’re very friendly. I never married and all my brothers and sisters are dead. I have a niece who lives a way out beyond Newbridge but she has her own family and business to look after I can’t be expecting her to be running up and down all the time to visit me. I have a niece in Clondalkin who comes down to visit, she’s very good to me. I used to work on the buildings, here there and everywhere, mostly all over Ireland, but I’m a long time retired now. I’m originally from Newcastle West in Limerick, I moved up to Dublin with my family when I was seven years of age and I never class myself as a Dublin man, I’m a Limerick man. I love the countryside, even to this present day I don’t know why my family ever moved away from Limerick to Dublin. Whenever I asked them why I would be told

“Mind your own business, we’re up and that’s it.” That’s the way it was with children in them times, the young weren’t told anything, you did what you were told. Nowadays they know everything and they’re told everything which is right, they should be told things, I knew nothing. I have no interest in sports at all, I love travelling, on the train or the bus whatever, I love it. I love going back down the country to where I’m from. I go down every few weeks. I love travelling around and seeing places and meeting people. I have no interest at all in looking at television or films I love doing things and making things, it keeps my head going. I love experimenting, sure see how it goes, that’s my attitude. I’ve no interest in politics either, as long as I get my pension at the end of the week I couldn’t care less what any of them have to say, it’s all mainly nonsense anyway!”

NATURAL BORN FEEDER We at InTallaght caught up with Roz Purcell this month before she takes centre stage at the Red Line Book Festival at the Civic Theatre on Saturday October 15th from 6.30-8.30pm. BY RACHEL LYNCH @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTRACHEL

She spoke to us about what we are to expect at the event and also about the success of her bestselling cook book – Natural Born Feeder. Roz is one of the most recognised faces in Ireland right now and is known as one of Ireland’s most successful models, who won Miss Universe Ireland 2010 and represented Ireland at Miss Universe 2010 in USA where she placed in the Top 10. Although modelling remains a large part of her life, she has now had an exciting career change which sees her mix her love of cooking with writing. Only a few months ago she launched her bestselling cookery book, Natural Born Feeder, which led to subsequent pop up shops and event appearances. Her trip to Tallaght will be a chance for her to speak about what she really loves and to discuss food tips with fans. Roz firmly believes in having a life of balance as opposed to extremes

ROZ PURCELL but her one non-negotiable is the use of whole foods in her cooking. Are you looking for some inspiration in developing a healthier lifestyle? Or would you like some ideas for some fancy new meals? Well then this is certainly an event for you. Roz told us exactly why the Red Line Book Festival was something that interested her “after Natural Born Feeder I’m a huge advocate of healthy eating and lifestyle and not just food, also fitness and keeping active. Being able to do demos like this is an opportunity for me to meet people who have bought my book but also encourage others to start their health food journey”. Healthy food is now a huge part of Roz’s career and she explained to us about her journey so far and how happy she is to have a book on the shelves nationwide. “Growing up I never thought I would have a book. English was not my strongest subject and I never guessed that starting up a blog about my passion would then lead to me becoming an author. I started the blog and I think within a year and a half I had gotten some attention from a publishing agent asking would I be interested in a book deal and I was so excited. It just proves though if you are truly passionate about something you just don’t know what can happen”. The production behind the book Roz says was one of the most rewarding experiences of her life and she says that the recipes inside cover all aspects from weight loss to just plain and simple good food. “There are people who have just lost weight using the book or girls who may have suffered with eating disorders and find the book really helpful in overcoming that. I think hearing the positive feedback that they are giving me about the book is probably one of the best and heartwarming experiences that I have ever had”.

GROWING UP I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE A BOOK. ENGLISH WAS NOT MY STRONGEST SUBJECT AND I NEVER GUESSED THAT STARTING UP A BLOG ABOUT MY PASSION WOULD THEN LEAD TO ME BECOMING AN AUTHOR

When discussing her greatest achievements and to be fair there have been many to date to chose from, Roz tells us that it’s her book. “People always say ‘what’s your greatest achievement?’ and I always think like sporting events and modelling but I have to say making the book was. I suppose it was years of grouping together recipes and experimenting and I get so much back from it in terms of people reading it and enjoying it”. Natural Born Feeder is a very readable book for those of you out there that struggle with cooking even the simplest of dishes but there are also tougher challenges inside for those of you that love the kitchen. Roz has said there really is something for everyone; from those on the go looking for the quick solution, to those with more time on their hands. “I’m always running in and out of the house and I don’t really have that much time. Especially when I was at the height of modelling, I was

NATURAL BORN FEEDER IS A VERY READABLE BOOK FOR THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE THAT STRUGGLE WITH COOKING EVEN THE SIMPLEST OF DISHES BUT THERE ARE ALSO TOUGHER CHALLENGES INSIDE FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT LOVE THE KITCHEN always living out of bags and that’s how I made my cookbook really achievable. I know there are the odd few recipes with kind of crazy ingredients but that’s just for people that are really into health food. I try to keep the majority of my recipes for everyday shoppers and everyday cooks. If you present something to someone that’s really unattainable then people cut it off straight away. I’m learning a lot about what my audience want, our environment now is more hectic than ever before so you do need those quick fixes”. Anyone that has followed Roz over the years will know all about her passion for fitness and her healthy eating lifestyle is a part of that just as much. She says that the two are just as important “I was up and down with food and had a negative relationship with food but one of the first things I changed was I stopped thinking of all the foods I couldn’t eat and I started thinking of all the foods

I could and there are so many amazing foods out there that you can eat. Portions are a huge thing, in terms of fruit and veg you can eat them in pretty large quantities and I try to do that with my recipes. I bulk up on the good stuff like the veg to make it a really satisfying meal and I’m not someone that loves typical salads. I love a bit of steak, I love finishing a meal and being really satisfied and that’s what I try to do with all my meals. ‘I used to find when I was on all these crazy diets throughout modelling that I would eat something I wouldn’t be satisfied and that’s when I would start picking and snacking. Food is one of the most enjoyable things in life”. With her first book proving to be a massive success we wanted to know is there plans for another in the near future? For those fans out there you may be in luck. “I’m not rushing into it, I want

my second book to be as good as the first. So I am really taking my time to perfect it so probably some time next year”. It’s been a great year to date for Roz who was also named as one of the “30 under 30” for 2016 by The Irish Independent alongside some pretty impressive names “It’s pretty awesome, the list had the likes of Brian from Chopped and a few others and they are people who are obviously really hard grafters so it was really nice to be recognised in that area and particularly for food. It wasn’t modelling it was for my passion so I was really happy about that”. All this success and recognition has come from Roz’s online food blog as she states herself. Today we live in a world where online blogging has become a massive area of success for those who love to talk about things they love. We asked Roz about how you can develop your blog and for some advice for those of you out there that dream of the same success. “I think a lot of girls say they would like to do makeup or style but you have to make sure you are doing something you are truly passionate about. I remember before, about six years ago, I started a blog when I was at Miss Universe and I never kept it up but if it’s your passion you will keep it up. Look where I am now three years later. “There are a lot of blogs out there where it is almost forced a little and they are lackadaisical about their posts and it’s not their passion. If it is something you are passionate about it then go and do it but think outside the box too. Everyone is doing style, try to be different. Try to do something that is niche, that you are concentrating on one area. “Also another really important thing is staying true to your brand. Write your mission statement and stick to it. My mission statement was that I wouldn’t actually take any money

ROZ PURCELL or any client work for the first year and a half to two years. I wanted to build it up and enjoy it and not look on it as a business but look at it as this is my hobby. Through that I built a lot of trust with my followers. Even now in my mission statement I won’t promote anything I don’t truly believe in”. With only a few months left in the year Roz says she takes every day as it comes and is relatively easy going when it comes to the future and her plans. “I’m someone that has always just gone with the flow and I’m super positive. I have small goals, but I’m one of those people that is constantly changing what I want. It’s strange because I know people say goal setting is so important and I do have goals that I look towards but I’m an every day kind of person, rather than looking at the end goal and not working hard every day. One thing I have learnt in this job is you can plan to do loads of things but one phone call could change it all and that’s the excitement of it”. Next month Roz will be here in Tallaght at the Red Line Book festival where you can come along and see her cookery skills in action with some demonstrations of her recipes. This is definitely the perfect event for those of you looking for some advice and tips on becoming a healthier version of yourself. She tells us about her excitement “I can’t wait, if people are attending and they

want certain things, tweet me because I love getting that kind of insight so definitely shoot me a line”. For more information on the Red Line Book Festival check out redlinebookfestival.ie today!

ROCSTRONG

STRONG AS A ROC Who needs the funk? The rise of Rocstrong is a lesson for anyone who has a dream. BY PADRAIG CONLON @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTPADRAIG

Two years on from our last meeting and I’m delighted to find local musician Rocstrong, AKA Andre JP Bangla, in a great place. He has just released his first EP Show Off What You Got to rave reviews, his first single Go’Head features on the latest Irish Ladies GAA and Lidl advert and he is playing sold out gigs. Did I mention that Go’Head also made it onto the soundtrack for the Coen Brother’s latest blockbuster movie Hail Caesar?! The last time we spoke he told me that winning the Hotpress BigBreak competition was “the biggest thing to happen musically so far.” Well his big break has truly arrived and it’s all thanks to his fierce work ethic and dedication to honing his craft. We start with the EP. For people who haven’t heard it yet, what’s Show Off What You Got all about? “It just shows glimpses of who I’m trying to be and who I’m supposed to be,” he says.“I think it gives a great example of the confidence that I have in what I do. I wanted it to sound badass. “I wanted that cool vibe. That slow-motion, Ray Bans on, top

I LEAVE A MESSAGE IN THAT SONG [BLOCK PARTY], IN MY CULTURE, WHEN SOMEONE DIES WE CELEBRATE THEIR LIFE. I WANTED TO DO IT THROUGH A SONG, RATHER THAN MOURN of the car down, driving vibe. I really wanted it in that song, and I think I’ve done it. Things that I see are things that I want to do.” Show Off What You Got pays homage to a lot of the influences that Andre was brought up listening to as a child - James Brown, Michael Jackson, Elvis and Madonna. But he brings a

unique energy and charisma that drips off every track. Andre began working on the EP a little over a year ago, with his longtime friend and producer, Jojo Francis. Together the pair have become a considerable musical force. He said: “I’ve worked with the same producer that I’ve been working with since the beginning, since I was 19. “He’s been working with me a long time and he’s started to know exactly what I want and the direction I want to go in. And I’m learning from him as well. “I don’t actually produce, but I’m learning. I let him know what I want and how I want things to go, and bring my ideas to him. “He’s very talented at what he does and he’s really getting my sound. I think we’ve evolved since the beginning.” But while his work is now appearing in Hollywood blockbusters, Andre has had his share of heartache along the way. His best friend and supporter John Ojo passed away suddenly, and the track Block Party is dedicated to his memory. He said: “Block Party was for my friend John Ojo. He was

with me at the beginning of this project. He was really, really into my music. He always told me to keep going, that I was going to do it. He had a nine to five job and he was always at my rehearsals straight after just to watch me and to egg me on. “I really appreciated that. He always used to talk about the future and how it’s going to be. How we’re going to be performing here, we’re going to be performing there, just wait.” He added: “Then suddenly he left us, and it was very hard to take. I wanted to do something for him. I wrote Block Party. “I leave a message in that song. In my culture, when someone dies we celebrate their life. I wanted to do it through a song, rather than mourn.” Andre is already hard at work on what will be his debut album, and admits he’s competing with himself to surpass what he’s already achieved.

THE EP WAS A LEARNING CURVE FOR ME, BECAUSE NOW I KNOW WHAT THE LEVEL IS, WHAT THE STANDARD IS. I’VE SET THE BAR FOR MYSELF AND I’LL ALWAYS TRY AND BETTER IT He said: “The EP was a learning curve for me, because now I know what the level is, what the standard is. I’ve set the bar for myself and I’ll always try and better it. “Show Off What You Got was also a competition between the Rocstrong that made Go’Head and the Rocstrong now. I wanted to beat that song and up the level again.

20 // #intallaght / TWEET US

“I think I’ll do it in the album even more. There’ll be a lot more songs and a lot more variety of showing what I can do. I don’t want to just do it through my music, I want to do it through my performances as well.” With growing international interest in him already, could he be Ireland’s next musical success story? Right now I wouldn’t bet against him. Commenting on his goals, he says: “My ambition is to get my music heard worldwide, to be able to perform on the biggest stages. I really think that there’s a lot more to come from me. “There’s things in my mind and things that I dream of doing and I know I can do them. I’m just not at that stage yet. But it’s not that I’m scared to do it. “It’s that I have to work to be as good as I want to be. I know that I have quality in me. It’s just slight rustiness that I have right now. I’ll shake it off pretty soon.” This month promises to be another exciting one for him as he plays the Electric Picnic for the first time in his career. “I can’t wait, it’s going to be amazing,” he says. “I’ve been to the festival a few times as a fan and it’s such

a great event in the Irish music calendar. I’m proud to be invited to play at it and hopefully some people who’ve never heard of me will come along and give me a listen! I promise I’m going to put on a great show!” Introducing new fans to his music is just another of the buzzes he gets from creating. “I’m all about perfecting my craft. I always want to do things better, because that to me is more important than anything” he says. “Giving exceptional value for money and giving people that feeling of when you went to your first concert, that sensation when you get goosebumps.” It’s great to hear things are going so well for him and I finish up by wishing him the very best for the rest of the year. “Thank you very much, and the same to you. Hopefully the next time we speak I’ll have even more good news to report.” So do I. Rocstrong deserves all the success in the world and is living proof that you should never, ever give up on your dream.

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR BY RACHEL LYNCH @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTRACHEL

Have you seen the previous Purge installments? No? Well don’t worry, the story is literally the same each time with a variation on just how everyone is murdered and just who is hunted. That said I’m not complaining. From day one I have been a fan of this franchise, it’s the type of horror that follows an actual plot. So what about the story this time? With a title like Election

Year you may have gathered it’s all about the government. Senator Charlie Roan is a presidential candidate who wants to make drastic changes to Purge night, so much so she wants it eradicated. Having survived the annual night as a child which took the life of her family she wishes to make the night a thing of the past. That hasn’t gone down well with her opponents who are determined to remove her from power on that one night of the year. It is now up to her head of security to keep her alive during the next 12 hours of mayhem. RELEASE DATE: OUT NOW

Well this year sees Renée Zellweger reprise her role for the first time in 12 years. This film’s plot deals with Bridget’s uncertainty over whether the father of her baby is longterm love turned ex, Mark Darcy, or a handsome newcomer. So yes, there is no big secret here, Bridget is pregnant. Breaking up with Mark Darcy leaves Bridget over 40 and single again. Suddenly, her love life comes back from the dead when she meets an American named Jack. Things couldn’t be better, until Bridget discovers that she is pregnant. Now the mother to be must figure out if the father is Mark or Jack. RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 16TH

THE SHALLOWS

THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS

BY RACHEL LYNCH

BY RACHEL LYNCH

@INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTRACHEL

@INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTRACHEL

As a lover of sharks I was both excited and skeptical of the release of The Shallows. Many directors have tried and failed when trying to pull off what Steven Spielberg did with Jaws back in 1975. Ok, so The Shallows isn’t going to rival the iconic Jaws but I don’t think the director Jaume Collet-Serra has tried to. Yes the film is set at sea and there is a shark involved but this film has a different feel to it. The leading actress, who is trying to avoid death from one of the biggest great white sharks I have ever seen, is Blake Lively who takes on the role of medical student Nancy. While Nancy is out surfing alone she is attacked by a shark and is left stranded a few hundred metres from sea on a small piece of reef. As you can probably guess this film becomes the story of Nancy versus the shark. As the predator continues to circles her in its feeding ground Nancy must try to not just stay alive but stay out of the water. Will The Shallows reach the heights of Jaws? I doubt it but it is certainly one of the better shark thrillers we have had in a long time. RELEASE DATE:OUT NOW

Did you enjoy The Notebook? Are you someone who loves a real tearjerker? Well The Light Between Oceans is one for you this autumn. We have only had a chance to see the official trailer but believe us when we say that’s enough. The film which has been adapted from the book of the same title by M. L. Stedman tells the story of a young couple, Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and his wife Isabel (Alicia Vikander). Tom is a lighthouse keeper and he and his wife live off the coast in post World War I Western Australia. After many failed attempts to carry a child the couples luck changes when one day they rescue a baby girl who has washed up on a boat. They name her Lucy and begin to raise her as their own. A few years on, after a trip to the mainland, they find out some news that turns their world upside down when they encounter one particular lady. Can they keep their perfect family together?

FANTASTIC NEWS FOR HARRY POTTER FANS AS SPIN-OFF FILM GETS A SEQUEL BY KELLY EVANS Five years since their last wizarding fix Harry Potter fans now have not one, but two, fantastic films to look forward to. Movie bosses have announced that work on a darker sequel to upcoming flick Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is under way – before the first story has even hit the screens. The first installment in the Harry Potter spin-off, starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston and Ezra Miller, is out on November 18th and will be JK Rowling’s screen writing debut. Based on her 2001 novel by the same name, the story follows Newt

Scamander, a “magizoologist” on a mission to catalogue other-worldy creatures in New York, Warner Bros said the second outing for Eddie’s Scamander will also be penned by the author and is expected to have a “darker edge”, but fans will have to hold on for two years before the sequel reaches cinemas on November 16th 2018. The prospect of a burgeoning Fantastic Beasts franchise to follow the eight-part Harry Potter series will be magical for JK, who was recently named the world’s third-richest author. With an estimated £580 million fortune, she made £14.2 million in the past year that saw the opening of her two-part West End debut, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.

SUICIDE SQUAD GETS VERYMIXED REVIEWSFROMCRITICS…BUTTHE FANSLOVEDIT BY KELLY EVANS The big-screen comic book adaptation, directed by David Ayer, has received a bit of a mixed bag from the critics, with the Daily Telegraph’s Robbie Collin giving it two out of five stars and The Guardian going one better with three stars. The Telegraph’s man described the effort as “crushingly puerile comicbook pornography”. He added: “Occasionally, the film feels like Ayer is trying to fight his way out from underneath an enormous, suffocating parachute. “The film makes you cringe so hard your teeth come loose. But it’s a slog even on its own crushingly puerile terms.” The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw saw the positive side among the negatives, writing “there’s plenty to like”, and praising Margot Robbie and Viola Davis, who is “the real scene-stealer”.

“If only Davis were involved a bit more,” he wrote. “If only we could scale down the inevitable FX-driven action finale involving slightly tiring supernatural forces, in order to beef up the dialogue and chemistry.” Forbes’s Mark Hughes had a positive take on the film, as he said: “I personally believe it’s a great film, I loved a lot of it and really liked most of the rest. It’s going to make most fans very happy – after my screening, I talked to several fans to gauge their reactions and watched how other viewers acted, and it seemed the consensus was that the film is very good, and entertaining.” There was also a mainly positive reaction from fans who caught the film ahead of its release, as well as on the tough reviews from the critics.

AN EXCELLENT POSTHUMOUS SELF TITLED ALBUM OF NINE SONGS WHICH REVEAL A TALENTED BAND LEARNING THEIR CRAFT VIOLA BEACH VIOLA BEACH BY PADRAIG CONLON @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTPADRAIG

The Viola Beach story is one of the more shocking events in recent music history, a disaster so cruel and unfair it almost defies belief. In February the up and coming young British indie-pop quartet from Warrington were on their first foreign tour in Sweden and had just played a festival when the car they were travelling in came off a bridge and fell 80 feet into a canal, killing all four members – singer Kris Leonard, guitarist River Reeves, bassist Tomas Lowe and drummer Jack Dakin – and their manager, Craig Tarry. They died before they had the chance to record a debut album, leaving so many questions and “what ifs?”. Spurred on by a desire to honour their loved ones, family and friends of the band got together to assemble an album from the recordings they had made during their short lives. The result is an excellent posthumous self titled album

42 // #intallaght / TWEET US

of nine songs which reveal a talented band learning their craft. Opening with their impressive debut single, Swings And Waterslides, with its strong guitar and drums, the track stands out due to its originality and complexity thanks to the vocals of lead singer Kris Leonard. This originality took it to No. 11 on the UK Singles chart and launched Viola Beach into the public consciousness a week after their tragic deaths. The next stand out track for me is Drunk, a spontaneous, beautiful and energetic ballad. The strange thing about this album is I expected to be really saddened listening to it, but ended up feeling quite the opposite because the sheer joy and feel good vibes from the band shine through on every song. They sounded like they really enjoyed making music. The only exception, and standout tune for me, is the very moving and emotional Call You Up which paints a picture of longing, love and passion. We’ll never know what 19-year-old lead singer Kris Leonard would have gone on to write had he lived, but Call You Up may well be the best one that he left behind. The album winds down with Get To Dancing, performed for

a BBC session, and lead single Boys That Sing closes Viola Beach, showing all the brilliance the band had to offer. Viola Beach’s name will always be synonymous with tragedy, but at least there now exists a document of who and what this band were and what they might have been. Due to an obvious outpouring of goodwill, the album has already risen to the top of the UK charts and Viola Beach now have a No. 1 album. I’m delighted to say the record is genuinely excellent and a fitting legacy to a young band who never got the chance to fully express themselves.

BON JOVI THIS HOUSE IS NOT FOR SALE BY COLM O’MUIRÍ @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTCOLM

This House is Not for Sale is the first single from the American rock band Bon Jovi’s forthcoming album of the same name. The song is the first to be released by the band following the departure of guitarist Richie Sambora, and the album will be the first to not have any influence from him. Burning Bridges was released in 2015 and although the album was released following his departure he wrote some of the songs on that album. This is a really catchy, radio friendly anthem that will please Bon Jovi fans who were afraid that the band would lose something without Sambora in the line-up. Although the backing vocals are missing his signature voice and guitar style, Phil X the new guitarist does a great job and brings his own uniqueness and blend to the song. There is a cohesion that hasn’t been there in years on Bon Jovi tracks, with Jon Bon Jovi stating that they all recorded in the same studio at the same time, something which the band had gotten away from. The new album This House is Not for Sale is due out on October 21st and I have high hopes for it having listened to this single. Although Bon Jovi have had some good tracks over the last few years they have struggled to put together a great album together from start to finish since 2005’s Have a Nice Day.

KELLY’S TOP PICKS FOR AUTUMN FASHION I’m so excited autumn has come back around again, this means I get to whip out the statement jackets and my favourite berry-coloured lippy. Take a look at what I would love to see trending this autumn season. BY KELLY EVANS @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTKELLY

of comfy trousers with this style and a cap, giving it that stylish yet casual look.

area. Blend it into the crease and apply your liner and mascara and you are good to go.

2. AUTUMN MAKEUP ESSENTIALS

1. THE STATEMENT BOMBER I’m going to let you in on my top pick for the season. Starting off with my favourite statement bomber. Embroidery pieces were not my favourite at the start but they have completely grown on me. The originality of some of these pieces is amazing. I chose this head-turning embroidered bomber jacket from River Island as a top pick. The black and white colours are really simple and with the pop of colour in the embroidery definitely makes the jacket a statement piece. €87 from River Island on Level 2. You can match this trendy jacket with a lot of the contents of your wardrobe. I would personally pair this piece up with high waisted denim jeans and some really trendy trainers or canvas shoes. Keep the look simple. This is 100% an investment piece for this season. You can go casual and put a pair

44 // #intallaght / TWEET US

Lips: Go bold with the berry shades or go soft with a nude lip and dark brown shades on the eyes. I adore the dark lip in autumn because it contrasts with the colours associated with the season so well. My top lipstick pick would be Rimmel lipsticks hands down. Kate Moss for Rimmel lipsticks in shades 8 and 30, €7.49 in Boots on Level 2.

Eyes: You can go with a nice brown smokey eye with either lipstick really. The brown smokey eye really warms the face. Using burnt oranges and dark to light browns around the eye looks really good especially this time of year when it contrasts with its surroundings. Apply the light transition shade and then apply some darker shades over that shade (dark brown/purple/orange). Using a white/cream shade apply it to the lid and to the inner corner of the eye to lighten the

Face: For foundation, your everyday foundation is best. The eyes and lips are the big deal on the face right now. Don’t take away their spotlight. I would do a warm contour and apply some highlighter to the cheekbones. A brand I would recommend for both contour and highlighting is Sleek. Their highlighter Solstice is so pigmented, I love it! I stood for 10 minutes in Boots just oohing over the swatches on my hand, I was instantly in love. €14.49 in Boots on Level 2.

TECH

THE GALAXY NOTE 7 IS ABLE TO LAST 30 MINUTES IN WATERS UP TO 1.5M IN DEPTH AND THE S PEN IS ALSO WATER RESISTANT THIS TIME AROUND SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7 BY COLM O’MUIRÍ @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTCOLM

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was officially launched on August 2nd during Samsung’s Unpacked event and the response so far has been hugely positive. The Galaxy Note 7 features the same 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen with a stunning 2560 x 1440 Pixels that its predecessor had. The phone itself is actually thinner than the Note 5 by 2.2mm which is nothing, but Samsung say will lead to people dropping it a lot less because it will be more comfortable in the palm of your hand. The fact that the Note 7 also has a curved frame will also help with this. Samsung has continued with the trend of making their smartphones water resistant with the Galaxy Note 7 able to last 30 minutess in waters up to 1.5m in depth. The S Pen is also water

46 //#i // #intallaght / TWEETT US US

resistant this time around meaning you can carry on using your phone to its full capabilities in the water. The S Pen has also been redesigned with a finer tip meaning that taking notes on your screen will be much easier. There is also no need to unlock your phone to write notes as the locked screen acts as a memo pad. The notes also look more like sticky notes than on previous models. The phone has 4GB of RAM and comes with 64GB storage, this can be improved up to 256GB with the use of the built in microSD slot. One of the cooler aspects of the phone is that you no longer have to remember passwords, instead you can use the phone’s built in iris scanner. Samsung have said that it is easier to set up and more accurate than the fingerprint reader, although that is also one of the phone’s features as well. No price has been announced for the Galaxy Note 7 however pre-orders were being taken from mid-August. The phone is due for release on September 2nd, with the phone available in three stunning colours; Black

Onyx, Silver Titanium and Blue Coral. Samsung is also giving anyone who pre-orders the phone before August 30th a free Galaxy Gear VR. Samsung looks to be on to another winner with this phone and are really setting a marker for all other phone companies, especially Apple, to bring their A game as Samsung has brought theirs.

GAME

PRO EVOLUTION EVO 2017 SOCCER 2017 BY COLM O’MUIRÍ @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTCOLM

Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 or PES 2017 is a soon to be released football game from developers PES Productions and published by Konami. This is the 16th game in the Pro Evo series and the game doesn’t feature one cover star but four of Barcelona’s biggest names. On July 26th Konami announced a three-year partnership that would allow them exclusive access to the Camp Nou Stadium and Barcelona FC. As a result of this Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Rakitic and Pique appear on the front cover along with a still of the Nou Camp taken from the game. One of Pro Evo’s most popular game modes is My Club and for anyone who pre-orders the game through the PlayStation store they will be entitled to sign an FC Barcelona player to be used in this game mode. Peter Drury and Jim Beglin are returning to provide the English commentary for the

48 // #intallaght / TWEET US

game. Pro Evo has been working on the commentary aspect of the game to make it more natural sounding and fluid to improve the gaming experience. Let’s see if it works, although nothing is as bad as the commentary in wrestling games which is atrocious and takes away from the experience. Pro Evo has added new features like precision passing, real touch and advanced instructions which is where the Tiki-Taka style and that exclusive deal could come into play. However, this year’s installment also features improved goal keeping which is said to make it harder for the players to score adding to the difficulty of the game. That along with the vastly improved visuals, better AI and corner kick strategies have improved the gameplay, presentation and leads to a better playing experience of the game. PES 2017 is out on September 15th in Ireland with the next gen versions of the game priced at €69.99 in Gamestop and current gen versions priced at €49.99. In Smyths, the next gen version is €64.99 and the current gen is €49.99. Every year the battle between FIFA and Pro Evo is one of the

most hotly anticipated with the winner generally being the gamer because we are getting two amazing football simulators. It is without question though that with this year’s installment Pro Evo definitely has closed the gap even further and could yet overtake FIFA for footballing supremacy.

NBA 2K17 BY COLM O’MUIRÍ @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTCOLM

NBA 2K17 is a soon to be released basketball video game that is developed by Visual Concepts and Published by 2K Sports. 2K17 will be the 18th installment in the NBA 2K series and following the demise of NBA Live it is now the premier basketball video game on the market. you get in this edition be sure to check out the game’s official website as they have a complete breakdown. MyTeam is a massive feature of the 2K series and this year’s version is slightly different with the three new card designs focusing on three different eras. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Paul George are the three players/ eras that you choose from. While Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are rated at 99 in the game, and rightly so, Paul George has a rating of 90, which is generous by all accounts from the 2K team. The game will feature all NBA teams and this year’s game will also include the Dream Team who were the USA’s Olympic Basketball team in 1992. The 2016 Olympic team is also playable in the game so you can pit these two powerhouses against each other to see who is the best. This past offseason has seen some huge moves between teams the biggest being Kevin Durant leaving the Thunder to sign with the Golden State Warriors. Some other big names to move teams

are Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, Al Horford and Dwight Howard to name but a few. This could lead to one of the most thrilling NBA seasons and NBA 2K17 is undoubtedly the game on which to relive all the action. NBA 2K17 is due for release on September 16th on both PlayStation and Xbox current gen and next gen consoles.

MOTOR

GOLF 2016 BY RACHEL LYNCH @INTALLAGHT #INTALLAGHTRACHEL

For me Volkswagen are one of the only brands of car on the market that are unbeatable in so many categories. One of the most popular in their collection is of course the Golf. No matter what they do Volkswagen just seem to always get it right with their Golf designs. I mean, a model from the 90s still looks well on the roads today. The Golf is a small car with a big reputation. It has built a name for being practical and sporty and this model is no different. The seventh generation Golf is bigger and includes more storage than ever, because of this it ticks the practically box without any hassle. The major selling point for me with the Golf is the exterior styling. It’s sporty and appeals to smaller families but also the younger single market too. There are so many trim levels with the Golf, starting with the Trendline which has a starting price of €20,225 right up to the Golf R which will be a big favourite with those of you that like to travel in ultimate luxury. You will certainly pay more for the R but wow, what a car. It will set you back roughly €42,890. The interior of the Golf is rather impressive. The design and layout is focused around the centre console. The screen displays everything you need to know and adds to the look. What about comfort for you passengers? Well whether it’s a two door or a four door you won’t be disappointed. Don’t be fooled by its size from the outside, as inside there is plenty of leg room. The boot? I have to mention the boot. They say it’s the small things that amuse small minds and perhaps that’s the case here but the VW logo placed at the centre of the rear of the car acts as a hidden handle for releasing the boot, it’s a clever feature and one of the many hidden extras with this car.

Overall there is no doubting it, Volkswagen have done it again with the Golf and released a great car that will fit any pretty much any lifestyle.

DUBLIN AND GALWAY ARE VOTED FRIENDLIEST CITIES IN THE WORLD – BY READERS OF CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER MAGAZINE BY PADRAIG CONLON Two Irish cities – Dublin and Galway – have made it into the top six friendliest cities in the world in the annual reader survey of Condé Nast Traveler, a major US travel magazine. Dublin is in third position, with Galway coming in sixth place. Every year, Condé Nast Traveler asks its readers to decide on their favourite cities around the globe, in its Readers Choice Awards survey. The magazine has unveiled the results of its 2016 survey – taken by some 128,000 readers – including its list of the world’s friendliest cities, where readers felt most welcome.

MINISTER HIGHLIGHTS VALUE OF STRONG LOCAL IT SECTOR TO SUPPORT FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT COMPANIES BY RACHEL LYNCH Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor T.D. joined forces with leading Irish owned IT services and networking company, Arkphire, to highlight the importance of having a strong local IT sector to support the growing numbers of foreign direct investment companies, now locating in Ireland. Arkphire, who are based in Sandyford, have been so successful largely due to the company’s ability to service the IT needs of multinational enterprises, providing a range of services from IT procurement through to infrastructure build and managed services. The 2015 IDA Annual Report cited the introduction of thirteen new foreign direct investment companies into the country. Arkphire directly supports nine FDI companies, including such high profile customers as Indeed, Lidl and UBER. This business has enabled Arkphire to achieve annual revenues of over €55 million and employing 71 people to date.

NAMA WHISTLEBLOWER SITE LAUNCHED BY TD MICK WALLACE BY PADRAIG CONLON Namaleaks.com, aims to provide a “secure and anonymous whistle blowing platform” for anyone who feels they have been unfairly treated by NAMA. This project is supported by Independents 4 Change TDs Mick Wallace and Clare Daly, former The Irish Times environment editor Frank McDonald, assistant professor of geography at UCD Julien Mercille, and equity and options trader Cormac Butler. In a statement Mick Wallace said: “Namaleaks will allow for anyone who has been unfairly treated or who has witnessed poor practice by Nama, or by any investment funds currently operating within Ireland, to securely and anonymously deliver information relating to same”. “Namaleaks is the first of its kind in Ireland, both in terms of security and anonymity”. “Namaleaks.com was created with the assistance of the US based ‘Freedom of the Press Foundation’ along with experts who work closely with whistleblower Edward Snowden. They are world leaders in creating safe and anonymous electronic systems. “Since its inception in 2009, NAMA has, to quote An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, operated as a “secret society. It is unfortunate that our Government does not want NAMA to be accountable to the people of Ireland. Much information has already come to our attention which highlights serious problems in relation to how NAMA has operated – there is little doubt but that the best interests of the people of Ireland have not always been served by this State organisation. “Despite the fact that many worrying issues regarding NAMA have been brought to the attention of the Government and the Opposition, on the floor of the Dáil, there remains, a stubborn reluctance to hold NAMA to account, or properly address the serious concerns through a Commission of Investigation. There are several ways to contact Namaleaks. com, depending on the level of security and anonymity you require. You can communicate and deliver information/documents via encrypted email or encrypted mobile text.

WRITE BESIDE YOU! Local author Carolann Copland continues to share her insights on writing in the run up to the Carousel Aware Indie Book Awards in October. I’m shocked! Last month I wrote in InTallaght Magazine about getting your entry ready for next year’s CAP Awards. Some of the feedback I got on that piece was that writing was such a solitary past time. Really? In the years since I took up writing, I have made more friends than I can handle. Writing is not something that I could manage alone. I need my writer friends around me like a comfort blanket. I’m a member of two writing groups and I know that my novels would never get to the finishing line without the push and the pull and the moulding that comes from my writing colleagues. With the right group beside you, you can learn what feedback to take on the chin and use it to make your writing stronger, or what feedback to reject when you feel strongly enough about something you’ve written. Learning from other writers is good discipline as you’ll be listening to the wise words of your editor when publication time comes around, and then you won’t be new to the process.

For me, there is nothing as inspiring as hearing from other writers and listening to others criticize my scribbles. I look forward to my meetings with my writing groups with anticipation and excitement. The time just flies by while we are moved or amused by each other’s writing. When I turned forty, my mother handed me a booklet for creative writing classes and said “I thought you wanted to write?”, I said the words “I do” and I’ve been having this wonderfully exciting affair with my laptop for ten years now. I started with an adult education class and when it finished we continued to meet as a group. From there I began to attend writing courses, writer’s workshops, writing retreats, writer’s festivals, book launches, author readings and anything that remotely hinted of motivation to write. Apart from writing novels, I now run my own writing workshops in adult education centres and have put many others on the writing road to success.

If you haven’t worked with a group before it may seem terrifying, but constructive criticism can help you improve your writing far faster than you could alone. So put your brave face on and do it. Make sure the group is supportive and helpful though - no need to jump into a shark pool! There are plenty of writing groups dotted around waiting for you to join; or you could start your own. Ask at your local library and they’ll send you in the right direction. Perhaps I’m being presumptuous, but from my experience, writers who find writing a torturous struggle are usually solitary writers. Or do what I did ten years ago… start with an adult education class… See knocklyonadulted.ie for a good place to begin. The short lists for The Carousel Awards for Independent Authors writingcap.ie will be announced soon. Get writing and yours could be there next year. All you need is a good writing group, write beside you!

IT TALLAGHT SU

MEET YOUR ITTSU OFFICERS BY JESSICA WALL EMAIL SUPRES@ITTDUBLIN.IE

My name is Jessica Wall and I am IT Tallaght Students’ Union President. I am from Tallaght and I studied in the college for 4 years from 2011-2015. I completed an Honours Degree in Business Management and it was my experiences over those 4 years which led me to wanting to run for the position of Students’ Union President. I was elected by the students of IT Tallaght as President for the academic year 2015/16 and after a successful year I decided to re-run for the position and the students of IT Tallaght re-elected me for the academic year 2016/17. I have now just begun my second term as Students’ Union President and I am currently preparing for the year ahead with the rest of the team. My office is located in the Students’ Union building, where I have a strict open door policy for students to pop in and have a chat at any time. Last year, myself and the team introduced many events and campaigns that have never been done before in the college and overall it was a very successful year. One of the main points on my agenda for the upcoming year is to introduce a website for our Students’ Union as this is something we currently do not have. On this website, we hope to include information that can help make life easier for the students. This website will provide everything from information regarding clubs and societies, upcoming events, campaigns and education and welfare related material. I also intend to work closely with businesses in the local area to help engage students in the Tallaght community which is very close to my heart. We have a great team here in the Students’ Union this year and I am really excited to have Aisling and Saoirse working alongside me, whom I have

no doubt will excel in their Education and Welfare positions respectively. We also have Part-Time Officers, Ammar is our Equality Officer, Sally-Anne our Ents Officer and Hugh is our Clubs and Societies Officer. Pauline, our Secretary, will have 17 years of experience this September and we couldn’t be more delighted to have her in the Union. She is dedicated to helping students and that is what we are all about. We will have a large number of first years entering the college from September 9th. We have Freshers Week which will run from September 26th until the 30th. We have been busy planning this week throughout summer and we hope it will give new students a taste of college life here at IT Tallaght. During this week we also have Clubs and Societies sign up days. Being part of the wide range of Clubs and Societies available is a great way to take a break from studying, meet new friends and also try something new. We have been working hard here to ensure this year is one to remember for the students. I hope students will get involved in activities on and off campus as I believe it is important to find a good balance between your education and your college experience. A lot of what we have been up to will be seen through InTallaght Magazine or alternatively you can see our Facebook page for more details of ongoing events (facebook.com/ITTallaghtSU). If anyone has any questions about the college or the Students’ Union, please don’t hesitate to contact us. My final message is to students, get involved and enjoy every minute of your experience here. We will be with you all the way to give a helping hand at all times. We look forward to meeting you all. Saoirse Byrne Carter (Welfare Officer ITTSU) Pauline O’Reilly (Secretary ITTSU) Jessica Wall (President ITTSU) and Aisling Cusack (Education Officer ITTSU)

My name is Aisling Cusack and I’m the Deputy President for Education in IT Tallaght Students’ Union. I first began this job over a year ago and in March of this year, in the ITT SU Elections, the students of IT Tallaght re-elected me to hold the spot for another term. After a hugely successful term in Office with the team last year, I’m excited for what is going to come throughout the coming academic year. We’re hoping to continue being innovative in our ideas for trips, campaigns and events this year. There have been so many highlights of the past year, including major successes in student politics, national achievements and local academic successes of which I have fought for but one of the fun high points was taking fifty students to Lisbon, a trip I’ll never forget! Last year, we introduced an Upskill Week where students could improve their interview skills, CVs and focus on upskilling themselves. This year we are going to see a return of this kind of campaign that focuses on students finding employment once they graduate. At the beginning of the year, we plan to recruit class reps and student tutors so that students who are struggling with any aspect of their studies may be able to find a tutor to help them along the way. I plan to keep on learning, fighting for students, representing them both individually and in their thousands and ensuring that our students are treated fairly and given the best opportunities to excel in their education. I’m super excited for students to come back and new ones to start in September and I’ll be available to give a hand with anything anyone needs. My office is in the SU building and I’m never hard to catch.

My name is Saoirse Byrne-Carter and I am the new Welfare Officer in IT Tallaght Students’ Union. I have just completed a four year Honours Degree in Business Management and will graduate in November of this year. Since securing my position in the Students’ Union I have already met so many amazing people and experienced so much. I have been part of a team who have worked tirelessly in setting up IT Tallaght’s first ever Mental Health Society which is due to hold its official launch during Fresher’s Week of this year. This was an aim of mine for the coming year and I am delighted to see it up and running and ready to go before the students return to college in September. As Welfare Officer, I want to ensure that the students’ time in the college is as stress-free as possible. I will aid students with any issues regarding sexual health, college fees, financial difficulties, mental health, and securing grants along with any other issues that relate to the welfare of a student. Throughout the year, I intend to run a number of campaigns. Mental Health Week, SHAG (Sexual Health and Guidance) and Drugs and Alcohol awareness campaigns will be held throughout the year as well as a Disabilities Awareness Week and Consent Workshops. I have a strict open door policy and I urge students that if they have any issues no matter how big or small throughout the year to call over to my office, give me a call or send me a message. I will always be available as a listening ear and someone you can talk to.

SPORTS NEWS

LEINSTER V GLOUCESTER BY PADRAIG CONLON Leinster made a victorious return to Tallaght two years after their last visit for a pre season friendly with Premiership side Gloucester last month. Tallaght Stadium saw the province run in four tries as they defeated their English opponents 26-24 to record their second win on the bounce as they prepared for the battles that lie ahead. They played some excellent attacking rugby in conditions that weren’t ideal for a running game as torrential rain lashed the pitch for most of the second half. Manager Leo Cullen emptied the bench to ensure everyone got some much needed game time.

60 // #intallaght / TWEET US

Some bright performers for Leinster were Adam Byrne on the wing who scored a fine try, Garry Ringrose at centre and captain on the day Jack Conan at number 8 looked to be in flying form before he had to be withdrawn with an ankle injury. Before the game there was a minutes silence for Tallaght Rugby legend Philip Preston who sadly passed away in July. Philip’s contribution to his local club will never be forgotten and it was a lovely gesture from Leinster to acknowledge his immense work in helping promote the game of rugby in this community and introducing so many young people to the sport.

SPORTS NEWS OLYMPIC REPORT BY PADRAIG CONLON I suppose it’s fair to say Rio 2016 won’t go into the annals of great Irish sporting success stories. Our boxers, who were heavily tipped to bring home medals, failed to get one between them though Micahael Conlan, Katie Taylor and Joe Ward can count themselves extremely unlucky to have been on the wrong end of some very strange decisions from referees and judges alike, Conlan especially. We also had the shame of having a boxer sent home for failing a drugs test. Then as if things couldn’t get any worse we had the ticket scandal and the President of the Olympic Council of Ireland ending up in jail in connection with the investigation into said ticket scandal! But here at InTallaght we much prefer to look on the bright side and some of our athletes performed outstandingly. It was on the water that we won our medals this time round with Annalise Murphy bringing home a silver in sailing and the O’Donovan brothers in rowing also winning silver and providing some of the best interviews of the games. For Murphy it was sweet redemption after she came very close in London 2012 to winning a medal. Speaking to RTÉ after winning her medal, she said: “It’s amazing for Irish sailing. We haven’t won a medal since the Moscow Olympics so hopefully I can inspire a new generation.” Brothers Paul O’Donovan and Gary O’Donovan from

Lisheen in rural west Cork won the first ever Irish rowing medal at the Olympic Games and also won the hearts of sports fans around the world with their down to earth attitudes and hilarious interviews. Paul described what happened after the win: “I had to go and do this doping control thing so I was there for an hour or two trying to take a pee into a cup for them after about ten litres of water.” Gary joined in with: “He was busy there and I was running around having a great time, signing autographs and taking pictures. When told that the whole country had gone “O’Donovan mad” Gary responded: “A pity we’re missing the whole thing out here.” Paul agreed, saying: “They’re all in the pub back home and Skibbereen’s after closing everything down and having a national holiday and we’re missing it all.” Asked what it’s like to win a medal with his brother, Paul said:“Ah, it’s good, yeah. We are almost like the same person now at this stage,” he said. “We spent so long together the past year and people think in interviews we are great craic. We are just excited that we have other people to talk to apart from ourselves.”

@soundmigration Whats the tally so of Irish #Olympics medals versus Irish #Olympics arrests? #PatHickey

@agentathcliath What a good ol Irish Olympics this is: The head of OCI gets arrested for alleged corruption, and we get cheated out of a medal. It’s perfect

@swearimnotpaul Also, if we get a photo of the O’Donovan Brothers and Annalise together, it really has to be headlined: IRISH WATER #Olympics
