Association Update

Debbie Martinez, Southern Region Branch Manager, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, after a brief illness.

When she was hired by Associate Member JM Wilson in 2009 to build the company’s presence in the Southeast, she had an ambitious plan to grow the business and open a branch office in that territory. Within 5 short years, she achieved that goal. As the branch manager, she put her team into place. The office quickly grew under her development and leadership.

Debbie was held in the highest regard by the employees and many others with whom she worked in our industry. She set an example that will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Her JM Wilson family misses her terribly, and we send our condolences to her family.

Kyra Garrison celebrated her one-year anniversary with the Insurors of Tennessee on January 3. Kyra serves as the Marketing Assistant for the association and performs a wide range of duties in support of the marketing efforts of the association, event planning and coordination and marketing communications. She said in a recent social media post, "Wow, it's hard to believe I have been with IOT for a year now! It has been an amazing opportunity. I have gotten to meet so many outstanding people and put my skills to use for an association that cares deeply for its members."

To further strengthen her marketing knowledge and capabilities, Kyra is starting work on earning an M.B.A. in marketing from her alma mater at Middle Tennessee State University. We are very supportive of Kyra in this effort as she continues her duties with the association as it will only build upon the positive impact, she has on our association going forward. Kyra’s creativity, enthusiasm and can do attitude are very much appreciated by her colleagues on the association staff, board members and the membership. Keep up the great work Kyra!
