The Preparation of the Church for the Rapture - Revelation - Part XXV

Summary of the presidents message

The Sunday Bible School on November 10, 2024 was held live, directly from the Communications Center of Radio and TV Web Maanaim, Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, with the participation of pastors Gedelti Gueiros, Gilson Sousa and Josias Junior.

Message from pastor Gilson Sousa:

We greet all our brethren with the peace of the Lord Jesus! We are starting Sunday Bible School. The subject to be pre-

sented is the book of Revelation: the message of the Holy Spirit resonates in the midst of the Faithful Church, in relation to the prophetic markers that are being fulfilled in our day, in the preparation of the Church for the rapture.

Pastor Gilson Sousa presented the answers given by various brothers to the questions posed, as well as various experiences and testimonies relating to Sunday School.

Message from pastor Gedelti Gueiros:

I greet everyone with the peace of the Lord. Let’s answer the

questions posed.

Question

[Answered through video]

Reading Revelation, chapter 2, verses 13 to 15, what contaminated and mischaracterized the true faith in the Church of Pergamos?

Answer:

• Satan’s throne – human government instead of the government of the Holy Spirit.

• The doctrine of Balaam - idolatry and sexual immorality.

• The doctrine of the Nicolaitans - material kingdom instead of the spiritual kingdom.

“I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus

you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.” Revelation 2:13-15

Question

[Answered through video]

Reading Revelation, chapter 2, verses 14 and 15, identify the greatest mistake made by the Church of Pergamos, which allowed the Salvation Project to change direction.

Answer: : Following the false doctrines of Balaam and the Nicolaitans, who changed the direction of the project of salvation by grace to a project of salvation by works.

“But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.”

Revelation 2:14-15

Question

[Answered through video]

Reading Revelation, chapter 2, verse 16, what is the word of the Lord for the moment, in order to combat the errors imposed on the Church in Pergamos?

Answer: The Revealed Word, which is the sword from the mouth of the Lord - like a two-edged sword - that gives discernment between what is of the Holy Spirit and what is not. The Word that came to separate what is reason from what is revelation.

“Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.” Revelation 2:16

Question

[Answered through video]

Reading Revelation, chapter 2, verse 17, what is the operation of the Lord, at that time and today, that serves as the remedy for not being hit by this action of the adversary?

Answer: the operation of the Lord is in listening to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written

which no one knows except him who receives it.” Revelation 2:17

1st Action of the enemy - Satan’s throne - vs 13.

2nd Action of the enemy - The doctrine of Balaam (idolatry and sexual immorality) - vs 14

3rd Action of the enemy - The doctrine of the Nicolaitans - vs 15.

-Operation of the Lord that serves as the remedy for the church not to be hit by this action of the adversary:

- At that time the operation of the Lord was to combat, with a sword from the mouth of the Lord, the false doctrines that

had entered the church.

- Today, the Lord’s operation is to combat, with the revealed Word, those who bring into the church the same false doctrines that entered the church in Pergamos.

The subjects we are studying are very important and profound. There is a lot to be said. We are talking about the historical and prophetic study of the church in all its ages.

What strikes us is that we are within this prophetic context. What happened during that time? What were the deviations? Where have we gotten today?

The second question posed asks what contaminated and mischaracterized the true faith in the Church of Pergamos. What mischaracterized the faith? There were several mistakes. But the biggest mistake was the one that has always happened: wanting to change

what is of the Spirit to enter into the flesh. The plan for the church from eternity was salvation by grace.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” Ephesians 2:8

Salvation comes through the Spirit. If it’s not by that means, it’s worthless. In the church at Pergamos, all the adversary wanted to do was mischaracterize the plan of salvation. The adversary began to put everything that was of the law. Balaam wanted worship to be of the flesh. It was a man based on his own wisdom and understanding. There was no longer any need for the Holy Spirit. If there is no need for the Holy Spirit, there is no need for grace either. So worship would be based on man himself, on his reason. But the point is that grace is the foundation of salvation for the life of the church.

It had to be understood that the law was an aid to understanding man’s limits. In grace, it would be the Holy Spirit who would work the transformation in man’s mind. In the project of salvation, man is moved by the Holy Spirit, and not the other way around.

Religion has changed that. In religion, man is the one who tries to move the Holy Spirit. When that is taken away, there is no longer the grace of God. He will look to his own wisdom, to his own reason for what he should do. Since man is limited, he will seek these resources in philosophy.

Thus, the whole battle in Pergamos was linked to the removal of the central doctrine of the church: salvation by grace. Thus, when the change to salvation by works occurred, man turned to philosophy. Philosophically, everything was fine. Therefore, man now begins to be divinized and God becomes humanized.

All we saw in Pergamos was the purchase of the blessing for money. Religious people want to hear all about religion. But they don’t want to hear anything about God’s salvation. The next letter is to the church in Thyatira. The filth of Pergamos goes to Thyatira. The unfaithful church would now live out what had been denied. It was a total denial of the project of salvation and eternal life.

May the Lord bless us.
