Greetings, Thank you for your interest in the Institute for Family-Owned Business (IFOB). Over nearly three decades, IFOB has supported, strengthened and empowered family-owned businesses throughout the state of Maine. Founded by business leaders who sought local resources to help with succession planning and other challenges unique to familyowned businesses, the Institute has become a comprehensive resource for first-generation and multi-generation businesses of all sizes, offering continuing education programs, networking opportunities and consulting services. Our strong economy starts with family-owned businesses. We have two types of memberships, family-owned businesses and our associate partners who provide services to the families. We hope that you will read this short, but very informative, booklet about the Institute and all that it does to help and promote successful family businesses in Maine. You can also visit our website at www.FamBusiness.org for more information, or contact me today. Best,

CATHERINE WYGANT FOSSETT, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Catherine@FamBusiness.org | (207) 798-2667

TESTIMONIALS “Being a part of the IFOB has been a huge resource for me and my personal growth and also for Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream. I know I will take at least one piece of information that I can relay to the rest of my family from every program/event that I attend! With IFOB, the networking opportunities and knowledge base are spectacular.” —LINDSAY SKILLING, CEO, GIFFORD’S ICE CREAM

“Anyone involved with a family-owned business would benefit by being a member of the IFOB. You will meet other family business owners who have had many of the same challenges, and you will find the right expertise to successfully guide you and the development of your company.” —ADAM LEE, CHAIRMAN, LEE AUTO MALLS

IFOB presented its second BerryDunn Lifetime Achievement Award to the late Harry Fraser, President of the H. G. Fraser Group, LLC, for his many contributions to the growth and development of the IFOB. Fraser served on the IFOB Advisory Board and was instrumental in the transition of the IFOB from a part of the University of Southern Maine to a separate nonprofit 501(c)(3). He will be missed, and we thank him for his support of the IFOB over his lifetime.
