Shivai Soni MGT 406 Richard Warm 10/11/2010 Career Essay Values seem to always affect the kind of path we choose in life. The biggest decision our values affect is the career path we choose to follow and the way we decide to approach it. Our life is based on certain core values and these values make us who we are as a person. It is important for me to stick to my core values in order to have that satisfying life I desire. Though my core values vary, these are some of my values that drives me as an individual– Achievement, Adventure, Cheerful, Competitiveness, Courageous, Creativity, Family happiness, Freedom, Health, Power, Recognition and Wealth. Like one of my key values state I like an adventurous life, and for me an adventure comes through a challenging life. I'm the guy who likes to face a new task everyday, I hate the same kind of work piled up on me everyday. The fact that people in this category seem to change jobs sticks true to me as well. I've had my share of jobs, I love to start a new but most of them always seem to get boring and monotonous after a while. I want a job that'll keep me busy and engaged. Talking about jobs, there are so many different kind of career paths in my mind. Graduation is a little scary because I feel I will be restricted to this one job that I might not like in the long run. So here are a few fantasy jobs I would want to have– owner of a gym, own a night club, work for the purchase department at P&G, work as a FBI agent and I guess my last fantasy job would be becoming a pro basket ball player. If you look at all my fantasy jobs they deeply relate to my core values of living an adventurous and healthy life. These also relate to my career anchors of pure challenge and entrepreneurial creativity, this clear through the fact that the first two jobs are owning my own business, and the rest of them have a sense of challenge for me. The first job I would really like to work would be owning a gym. I love to workout and love the feeling of being my own boss. I believe this job would give me the satisfaction of both. I strongly believe that if I

Upon graduating from CSUMB, I will be currently working for the Dollar Tree Store, Inc. as a cashier. I hope that after the training workshop for assistant manager, I will be accepted and train in the new Marina store at the end of the year. In the book What Color is your Parachute, I learned that I could go into a kind of rejection shock, if a promotion in not in the cards.[2] As he puts it, I would have to keep going and stay motivated, because I want full exposure of the knowledge and operations at the Dollar Tree. I am achieving most of this by interning this semester. Tammi Huntsman is the manager there and I am shadowing her as she performs skills of managing. I have ordered inventory, payroll, reset the store a few times, and cashed out cashiers with her help. All skills I have acquired will help me down the line in managerial positions.

Choosing a career is a daunting task and I would be willing to bet that you have probably changed directions at least two times since you first really started to think about what you wanted to do with your life. Typically during childhood you choose something glamorous, like a professional athlete or a performer of some sort. In your adolescence, you think of jobs that will make you a lot of money, like an entrepreneur or lawyer. However, as you get older and start to learn more about your likes and dislikes, you narrow the field toward things you would be happy doing for the rest of your life. As a post– traditional student, I have had what seems like a lifetime to think about what I want to do and even with all that time, I recently...show more content...

The longer I spent in school, the more I began to feel like I would never finish and I soon became defeated. When my family went through a financial hardship and I entered the workforce for the first time in nearly a decade, I discovered my passion for teaching. In changing my degree focus, I would be taking a big risk. Middle school teachers make almost $12,000 less than a nurse and the unemployment rate is higher. While we will always have a need for teachers, the summers off would mean a lack of income for three months out of the year (100 Best Jobs). Although I would be facing a drastic change in projected income, I knew becoming a teacher would make me happy. I would enjoy going to work every day and making a difference in the youth of tomorrow would be immeasurable. Fortunately for me, there are commonalities in what employers want; among them are the ability to work within a team, quality communication skills and in an ever–growing technical world, proficiency with computers and various software (Lopez, slide 5), both nursing and teaching value these traits. Recently, I completed the O*NET interest profiler report which indicated a career in education, particularly in middle school, is the best fit for my interests and preferred preparation level. Obtaining my bachelor degree is the first step necessary toward making it happen. Many of the career suggestions provided by the profiler report

My Future Career As A Career Essay

Motivation Latter

I have always been thinking about my future, building a career, becoming a successful person and generally finding my own path in the life.

My school teachers always noted that I had good abilities in such subjects as mathematics and physics. This increased my interest in exact sciences, and I decided to connect my future career with technological area of activity, wishing to gain success in the future. And if I become successful I will pay back my parents for their warmth and loving tender, as they have been those who have been supporting me throughout my life.

For that reason I constructed a plan for achieving this long–term aim. By the plan I accomplished some small objectives: graduated from American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Upon graduation I will receive a Specialist degree, which is not recognized by foreign universities due to differences in my country's educational system. But I want to continue my education in one of German universities. Then I plan to enter one of the best universities of the world for my Master's degree. I spent much time searching, and at last I chose the Technical University of Cologne among other universities of the Germany.

The first acquaintance with your university began from collecting particular information about it. From the data I had found I managed to make some basic picture explaining why I chose it.

Your university is the biggest innovative centre

Before it was too late to decide my major, I gave a chance for myself and picked something related to my future career. Before I told my parents I had decided to be agraphic designer , I did a little research on the job. It was good, but required lots experiences to get in a decent game company like Riot. But I did not stick with one job. I also heard of 3D modeling, programming and animation were good choices for me and I liked them too. I decided to go to City Tech College for four years education in Emerging Media major and I hoped I could get a job I like to do. According to the article "As Income Gap Widens, New York Grows Apart" written by James Parrott, college educated young workers' earning has fallen 6% since 1990. And it's false that those who pursue higher education and skills can get a higher economic reword. Everything is competitive now; the value of education does not count toward our future income earning. I realize that even if I graduated from the college there was higher chance I would not have a job or a job that I did not expect and paid very low. However, I do like what I do right now in my major class. I think if you did what you want and be happy with it, it doesn't matter how low you get paid you still fulfill in your life. The Importance Of A Career

There are many decisions an individual has to make in life, and choosing a career is one of the most important decisions he or she can make. Many people struggle with choosing one because of various factors that must be considered before embarking on a career path. Knowledge of self is important because, in order to successfully choose a correct path in life, it is important for the person to know themselves and align their personalities and abilities to what they choose to do. Individuals must set goals for themselves in terms of what they want out of their education and career so that they can make informed decisions pertaining to their lives. Plans must be carefully made if people want a successful career that they feel fulfilled with. My client, Randy, has been through a process of learning about himself, has goals that have been, and will be, fulfilled, and has set clear plans on what he wants out of his career. Randy is a successful athletic trainer because he has taken thetime to plan his life out and find a job that best matches his personality and goals. Self–Knowledge Goal A keen understanding of self is important in any important decision, as someone must know themselves to understand what they want out of life. Self–knowledge means understanding self, including what the person is interested in, values, likes and dislikes, and where one's priorities lie. In the interview, Randy seemed to go through a process in which he found out about himself through

The ability to communicate and reach people on different levels is a skill that I don't believe can be taught – one simply has it or they do not. There certainly are educational models that can help develop these skills, along with diverse life experiences that can integrate and incorporate learned traits; however, if one does not possess comfortability with people, and is not equipped with particular skill sets that are natural, a career working with people may not be the best choice. Any career that I had been interested in involved helping. My real career decision was to be a high school English Teacher, although it certainly wasn't a decision with staying power.

I also really take interest in these things and I do not think I would ever regret becoming any of these three professions in my life. Choosing a Career: Reaching my pursuit of happiness

Finding a career is a long process for some people, but it comes naturally to others. Everyone ponders about what they want to be when you're in kindergarten, when your imagination is running wild and every possibility is an actuality. As I have matured, I realized what career I choose is something that I love and will enjoy doing for the rest of my life which for me is to be a physical therapist. My career choice didn't cross my mind until my senior year. Other kids would always talk about becoming a cop, a doctor, and silly things like a billionaire. I want the ability to help people who have been through an accident and help to rehabilitate them. I want them to feel safe with me and give them the attention and therapy they need. I don't want it to feel like a job, but as a reward or gift I can give to people. I have a system that I want to follow to reach my goal. First, I have to graduate from high school. I want to get my basics done first which should take about two years at Amarillo College. I have a plan A and a plan B. My first choice is to move in with my brother. Buy a house with him, and help pay the rent while I work at the same time. My plan B is to stay with my parents and drive to Dumas or to Amarillo to take my classes. I want to work at the same time so I can have the extra money to pay for my bills. I'm paying for my school myself, but I will very likely get help from my parents and my brother. Once I finish with my basics, I will then transfer to West Texas A&M or to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. As much as I want to graduate and move far away, I know that it's not very beneficial to me financially. I want to take things slow and get my life together. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which includes identification and evaluation to problem solving.
