Our outdoor adventure residential programmes deliver stimulating and inclusive experiential learning to generate personal growth for a range of participants. At our 11 Inspiring Learning centres in the UK and four in France, we welcome over 200,000 people every year from schools, a diverse range of groups and businesses to experience a wide variety of adventurous activities in beautiful natural environments. Using supportive, challenge-by choice practices, we encourage learners to build skills which positively impact upon their emotional well-being, self-perceptions, social and personal capabilities.
We actively boost people’s self-confidence through focusing on what can be achieved by positive thinking and working with others. Resilient behaviours are also developed to help them become more adaptable and deal with stress. For schools, our unique Confidence Tracker tool provides valuable evidence of learning outcomes following the programme and is designed in line with the Ofsted Framework. This tool reminds the young people what experiences have made the them feel more capable, providing the stimulus to create better confidence habits at home, within their studies and in important areas of their life such as relationships.
Our locations vary from coastal to countryside, with over 6,000 beds across our estate. Accommodation options include traditional dormitories, eco pods and adventure lodges with exclusive use options available. Each centre has its own unique personality, so there’s an option to suit groups of any age and type.
Bringing joy to the school holidays for over 40 years.
Our award-winning Camp Beaumont Day Camps deliver flexible, affordable and educational childcare, a wealth of activities and ‘whole-person’ learning throughout the school holidays. With four decades of experience, each carefully crafted, age appropriate programme offers both creative, active and inspiring activities which allow a team of dedicated and passionate individuals to find the potential in every child.
Our rapidly growing geography started in Central London but now spans eight counties across London and the South East, and we’re proud to partner with some of the best located schools with exceptional facilities, many of whom we’ve worked with for decades. With 70 camps likely in 2023, we are allowing even more children to enjoy inspiring adventures throughout the school holidays.
We also work with a number of Local Authorities to offer Holiday Activities and Food provision for parents eligible for Free School Meals blending core activities with nutritional education and a hot meal, as well as partnering with charities including Mail Force where we’ve provided funded places for over 1,000 Ukrainian children.

The best of UK childcare across Asia
Launching in Hong Kong in 2020, Camp Beaumont has grown rapidly across the region to operate in 14 exceptional locations across Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, with more markets opening in 2023. Offering a unique blend of UK and local team members, our English language camps make sure that every day is an adventure with a strength-based, educational focus. We provide young people a chance to learn something new, meet new friends, grow in confidence and build enduring adaptive capacity for life’s challenges. Such resilience is aligned with recurring personal qualities as self-belief, moral behaviour and relationships; recognised as key elements in the formation of young adults.
We also work directly with schools across the region to offer exceptional leadership programmes for students. These courses specifically embed key life skills into activities such as rock-climbing, canoeing and paddle boarding which are crucial for academic success and wider healthy functioning. Our programmes use stimulating, inclusive challenges coupled with reflective practice to generate resilience and personal growth. These forms of experiential learning practices are associated with lasting mental and physical well-being, improved knowledge, skills and understanding, raised aspirations and enhanced trajectories for higher studies.
All of this expansion builds on our experience working with our partner, Summerhill, in China to provide exceptional residential experiences for young people for almost a decade.
Skern = A safe harbour
Set in a stunning location on North Devon’s coast, Skern Lodge offers a premium outdoor education experience. Our highly qualified practitioners expertly facilitate bespoke learning experiences for schools, businesses, families, further and high education. The unique location offers exceptional water sports experiences both on river and sea, as well as access for cycling on the renowned Tarka Trail.
Established in 1976, Skern Lodge use carefully constructed experiential learning in breath-taking settings to optimise exposure to adventurous challenges whereby participants feel both invigorated and secure and cared about. Skern means ‘safe harbour’ which is a fitting name for our approach. This growth-oriented methodology is factored into every learners’ experience, from developing personal and social skills for school-children to support their classroom learning, to providing tailor made geography and environmental fieldwork. Our experienced and enthusiastic staff bring the natural world to life integrating curriculum learning and assessment into activities; providing full tuition at all levels from Key Stages to A Level.
At university level, our outdoor adventure residential programmes can be specifically linked to subject delivery, for building academic skills, and to heighten the adaptive capabilities of students making transitions into higher education. This includes fostering meaningful peer relationships, connections with tutors and helping to balance student expectations with those of their university.
No two courses at Skern Lodge are the same. We work in partnership with each client to design a programme that meets their aims and objectives and most importantly the needs of their learners.
Development with a difference.
Skern Training & Skills (STS) is an established and trusted name in professional skills training and development. Operating nationally, our experienced team of outdoor learning specialists provide high quality, impactful apprenticeship training and work-based upskill programmes.
In an ever-changing marketplace, we realise the importance of blending exceptional apprenticeship training within agile business needs. Therefore, we offer both end to end apprenticeships in leadership, hospitality and agriculture and bespoke apprenticeships designed, managed and delivered in partnership with businesses. This ensures our apprentices are able to acquire accredited vocational skills and behaviours within a national educational framework and align their training needs to the culture, vision and values of their particular workplace, maximising their capability to succeed.
We deliver fit for purpose vocational training through a variety of learning modes. This includes experiential leaning within an immersive outdoor education residential at one of our 11 UK based adventure centres, personal tutorials, face to face teaching and e-learning. To compliment apprenticeships, STS also provide a range of stand- alone courses such as first aid at work, safeguarding children and national governing body awards in a variety of land and water based outdoor activities. Our learners undertaking end to end apprenticeships are also able to access additional learning support and functional skills training in English and Maths.

Our partnerships
Commissioned research by Inspiring Learning has identified a group of children aged 12/13 years of age referred to as ‘the forgotten middle’. These are individuals who are neither high performers nor learners requiring additional support, who deserve a chance to be recognised, shine and grow in the challenging world we now live. The Inspiring Learning Foundation (ILF) has been established to create personal and social developmental opportunities for this silent majority using the medium of fun, outdoor adventurous activities, environmental studies and the arts.
A 4 day residential programme called ‘Building Blocks to Success – transformational leadership programmes for hidden gems’, aims to empower specifically targeted individuals to follow a positive trajectory of healthy growth. Evidence of positive development will be evidenced through changes in the children’s self-perceptions of their acquired skills such as communication, environmental awareness and sociability. These skills underpin their capabilities to adapt to change and pursue ambition with new-found confidence.
Following their experiences at Inspiring Learning adventure centres across the country, they will be supported to connect with local and national organisations to build upon their new-found passion for learning and self-development and guide them towards discovering their place in the world.

Camp Beaumont’s charity partner since 2021, Spread a Smile bring joy and laughter to seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families during long hospital stays. Working together, we help to raise awareness of the incredible work they do as well as raising money through various fundraising activities both within our teams and with our customers.
