38 So Pharaoh said to them, “The spirit of God is in this man. We can’t find anyone else like him, can we?”
39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “God has made all this known to you. No one is as wise and understanding as you are.
40 You will be in charge of my palace. All my people must obey your orders. I will be greater than you only because I’m the one who sits on the throne.”Joseph Is Put in Charge of Egypt
41 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I’m putting you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.”
42 Then Pharaoh took from his finger the ring he used to give his official stamp. He put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes made out of fine linen. He put a gold chain around Joseph’s neck.
43 He also had him ride in a chariot. Joseph was now next in command after Pharaoh. People went in front of Joseph and shouted, “Get down on your knees!” By doing all these things, Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of the whole land of Egypt
44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh But unless you give an order, no one will do anything in the whole land of Egypt ”
Genesis41:38-44
1 Moses, the servant of the Lord, died After that, the Lord spoke to Joshua, the son of Nun. Joshua was Moses’ helper. The Lord said to Joshua,
2 “My servant Moses is dead. Now then, I want you and all these people to get ready to go across the Jordan River. I want all of you to go into the land I am about to give to the Israelites. 3 I will give all of you every place you walk on, just as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will reach from the Negev Desert all the way to Lebanon. The great Euphrates River will be to the east. The Mediterranean Sea will be to the west. Your territory will include all the Hittite country 5 Joshua, no one will be able to oppose you as long as you live I will be with you, just as I was with Moses I will never leave you. I will never desert you. 6 Be strong and brave. You will lead these people. They will take the land as their very own. It is the land I promised to give their people of long ago.
7 “Be strong and very brave. Make sure you obey the whole law my servant Moses gave you. Do not turn away from it to the right or the left. Then you will have success everywhere you go. 8 Never stop reading this Book of the Law. Day and night you must think about what it says. Make sure you do everything written in it. Then things will go well with you. And you will have great success 9 Here is what I am commanding you to do Be strong and brave Do not be afraid Do not lose hope I am the Lord your God I will be with you everywhere you go. ”
Joshua1:1-9
1 The Lord is my shepherd He gives me everything I need
2 He lets me lie down in fields of green grass. He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths for the honor of his name.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid. You are with me. Your shepherd’s rod and staff comfort me
5 You prepare a feast for me right in front of my enemies You pour oil on my head. My cup runs over.
6 I am sure that your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. And I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Uncle Cecil Has been the most prominent male figure in our lives since moving to England in 2005
He was the first person we met here and filled the role of mentor, teacher and father to us all. He stayed a pillar of support for our family and his guidance helped us all navigate life in this country, showing us how to stand up for ourselves and our rights And ensuring that in the middle of summer we had a jacket with us because you can "never trust this weather" If Uncle Cecil heard one of us express interest in anything, he would have a book about the subject for us the next time we met, making us feel heard, and understood from when we were little kids He will forever have a place in our hearts

Cecil Ross was the dynamic force behind the Tooting Youth Project, a community hub in southwest London that transformed the lives of hundreds of young people in the 1970s and ‘80s. Born in 1938 to parents John and Lillian in Georgetown, Guyana, and one of seven children, he came to England aged 25. Settling in London, he got a job with the Post Office, where he displayed his natural leadership talents by serving as a shop steward. ecil obtained a BSc in sociology after securing leave from work to
The 1970s were a difficult time for black youngsters who faced discrimination on several fronts, leading to high rates of boys dropping out of school or being expelled, pupils wrongly being labeled “educationally subnormal”, poor job and housing prospects and police victimisation. Under Cecil’s leadership, the Tooting Youth Project became a haven, not just for young people to hang
out in but to actively change their circumstances, particularly through education. Guided by a philosophy of “agitate from a position of influence”, he worked across local and national services and agencies to bring about genuine change. These included links with the Manpower Services Commission and partnership with Roehampton Institute of Higher Education.
study at Ruskin College, a move which was to change his life for ever. With the help of Gavton Shepherd, an old pal from back home, he got a job working with youngsters at the Ladbroke Grove Adventure Playground.
Gavton, a youth worker with anti-racism body Wandsworth Council for Community Relations, encouraged Cecil to apply for a post at a venture it had had just launched in Garratt Lane, Tooting. This was the Tooting Youth Project and Cecil began as its senior youth worker in 1973.
By 1976, the Tooting Youth Project had created a lively evening timetable, offering maths, English and science tuition, classes in photography, drama and dance as well as a film club, current affairs discussion group and mentoring programme.
Cecil, who sat as a JP, would also take members to the House of Commons and encourage them to learn from
the various debates taking place. Uniquely, there were trips to Guyana, Ghana, Jamaica and the US, while individuals were also introduced to bodies like the Voluntary Services Overseas and the Prince’s Trust. Many youngsters and former colleagues testify to the positive influence Cecil had on their lives, applauding his dedication, ethos and spirit.
Modest and never seeking the limelight, he nevertheless gained recognition with an MBE and being made a Freeman of the City of London. In the mid-‘90s he began work with the Croydon Youth Offending Team and continued to be active in the community long into his retirement. He lives in southwest London and remains in touch with former Tooting Youth Project members and workers.
