gni or the fire element is symbolic of vigor, energy & power. Having both the power to stimulate & destroy it represents our sensuous lives.

As fire always rises in the upwards direction, Agni motivates us to spiritually rise upwards seeking divinity and material abundance.

Agni solemnizes worship and rituals.

As sun it gives heat, as fire it cooks, as lightning it dazzles. Agni seated in the naval chakra illuminates us.

he Earth element is the base upon which man experiences the material nature of the universe.

She takes the form of a nourishing mother who supports our very beings.

It’s chakra is located at the base of the spine. Prithvi upholds man’s form.

From her womb plants and rivers originate.

Prithvi is known for its hard, fertile and supporting nature. Envisioned as mother, Prithvi feeds all sentient beings. Potency and fertility are her characters.

ir is the great mover which is the carrier of emotion & poetry.

It is Vayu which pulsates life in us in the form of breath. Breath is our companion through life. Blowing over fields and mountains alike it keeps our lives perpetually moving. It teaches us to not be confined but move freely.

Corresponding to the heart chakra Vayu also influences our moods. It refrains us from being static and asks us to be forever on our soul’s journey.

kash or space is the openness in which all exists. Clouds, seasons come and go but the sky remains, therefore akash teaches us to rest in meditation.

Boundless, vast and limitless it urges man to reach for ultimate divinity. A sage or meditator merges his or her consciousness in the all-pervading ether. Seated in the crown chakra Akasha is the highest among the tattvas. All knowledge descends upon mankind from Akasha.

al or the water element is the compassionate quencher of thirst.

Waters cooling, refreshing and replenishing effects cleanses and purifies mankind. Flowing freely in the form of rivers, streams and descending as rain, it also rests as the magnanimous ocean. Jal is necessary for the very survival of plants, men and animals.

Corresponding to the sacral chakra it teaches us lessons in fluidity and love.
