瞭解成人發展的界定  認識老化的定義及相關理論  辨別不同思維典範與成人發展之關 係  認識成功老化之概念  瞭解成功老化之預測因子  反思個人對成人發展及老化的觀點

社會年齡 (social age) ◦ 自身及他人對其身份及地位下所期許的角色及行為



功能年齡 (functional age) ◦ 生物 / 心理 / 社會年齡綜合 ，整體運作功能在年齡常模中的相 對位置

政策年齡

65 歲老人

思維典範與成人發展 機械論 (Mechanistic paradigm) (S-R) ◦ 人視為機器，整體是部分總和 ，可分開來探究或解 釋 ◦ 人是被動的有機體 ，所有行為均在回應環境的刺激 (stimulus- response relationship)

有機體論 (Organismic paradigm) (S-O-R) ◦ 人是複雜的生物系統，整體大於部分總和 ◦ 人是主動參與者， 個人發展朝向特定且有順序的目 標 (universal & orderly)

情境論 (Contextual paradigm) (Riegel, 1976) ◦ 從情境脈絡來解釋人的發展 ◦ 每一變化有其獨特生物社會心理文化的結合與脈絡 ◦ 人與情境互為主體性，均是不斷變動互為影響，共創 發展

思維典範所造成的爭論 發展是先天 ( 基因 ) 或後天 ( 環境 ) 所決定  發展是連續性或是階段性  發展是量上的改變或是質的改變  發展是可測量的或不是  發展是可預測的或不是  發展是可掌控的或不是 

老化 

定義 ◦ 個體成熟後，身體結構或功能的改變過程 。



種類 ◦ 初級老化 (primary aging) ◦ 次級老化 (secondary aging) ◦ 三級老化 (tertiary aging)

初級老化 (primary aging)    

正常老化 (normal aging) 與年齡、基因有關 每一個體速度不一 可能的變化 ◦ 可觀察到的 (observable)  頭髮  動作  聽力等

皮膚 視力

◦ 無法觀察但可感受到的 (perceived)  適應力  溫度  免疫系統修補能力等

次級老化 (secondary aging) 



生活經驗的結果或 / 與初級老化交互作用 在個體的組織或器官所造成的改 變 原因與現象 疾病 (disease)  心臟病、失智症、關節炎、白內障等

不用 (disuse)  運動

誤用 (abuse)  抽菸  營養不均衡  肥胖等



常交互影響，加深次級老化的現象

三級老化 (tertiary aging) 

生命最末期在生理、認知、社會等各 層面功能呈現衰退現象，與正常老化 不同  現象 ◦ 對疾病抵抗能力低 ◦ 個體的修復能力低 ◦ 對外界 ( 人、事、物 ) 興趣降低

老化理論 - 生物學方面 

程式論 (programmed theories) 老化是發展既定的程式變化 ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦



個體身體發展訊息存在於基因 基因發出訊息指揮個體的改變 生命初期訊息程式已建立，並開始運作 不同發展階段，程式訊息促使特定基因運作或停止

耗損論 (wear-and tear theories) 生活會逐漸傷害生物系統，影響組織或器官 功能的發揮，傷害累積到對功能出現損壞時 ，才發覺 會限制生物系統自我修補能力

程式論 (programmed theories) 

程式錯置 (program displacement) ◦ 早衰症 (pre-geria) ◦ 韋爾納證 (Werner’s syndrome) ◦ 唐氏症 (mongolism)



程式設定 ◦ 海富利克限制 (Hayflick limit) 細胞分裂次數決定生物學極限



程式破壞論 (program destruction) 程式結構自行破壞導致基因活動的改變 ◦ 免疫系統的自我破壞

生物學老化理論應用 遺傳性之長壽基因、 先天性之生物時鐘學說， 後天之自由基、線粒體分子破壞

生物學老化理論因應 從事基因研究、優生學研究，克服或 延緩老化 研究自由基之破壞，增加抗氧化食物 生活方式之選擇，適當食物營養與身心 運動、 日常自然抗氧化物之攝取 由年輕時開始從事預防性之身心保健工 作，以減少老 年期許多退化疾病

老化理論 - 心理學方面 認知理論 個人之認知變遷，比確實之客觀變遷對個人行為具更 重要影響 

ABCDEF 理論— belief ( 如 : 退休 ) ，個人認知察覺，造成完全不同結果

老人認知功能 老人記憶能力、反應時間、基本資訊處理與解決問題 能力出現衰退， 其他認知功能平穩的，有些能力更好，如 : 世界觀之 智慧與知識 流體智力↓，晶體智力↑

自我概念 自己對自己看法，包括 : 人格、自尊、身體我、自我 期許、社會我等 老年期，退休、喪偶等，社會角色沒有再代替或補充 ，造成適應問題。 老年期之”無角色理論“（ roleless role, Burges,1960; Blau, 1981 ）

學習理論

心理學的老化理論 ◦ 瞭解老人自我概念、社會關係、思考過 程、認知功能、個性、情緒、學習狀況 等 ◦ 將有助於設計適合老人族群之心理保健 、社會工作、家庭諮商、團體治療、社 團活動、身心保健防治工作 ◦ 有助於老人晚期之生活適應與心靈修養

社會學的老化理論 撤離論 (disengagement theory) (Cumming & Henry, 1961) 一定年紀需從社會角色或跑道退出，交棒是成功

老化必經過程

活動論 (activity theory) (Havighurst, 1963) ，促進適應

有機會參與社會活動、貢獻所能，可增加生活滿意

角色理論 (role theory)

出生起發展角色 (1) ，退休前主要扮演功能性的角 色 (2) ，退休後逐 漸被情感性角色所取代 (3) ，若能認知、接受則有 助適應

持續論 (continuity theory) (Neugarten, 1968) 隨年齡出現持續 化

人格及行為特質是環境與社會交互影響所 塑造， 動態改變，能隨改變調適生活，則能達成成功老

社會學的老化理論 ◦ 瞭解老人族群之社會結構、社會角色、 社會功能與社會期待 ◦ 對於老人社會理論之分析，有助老人社 會政策、社會福利、醫療保健、社會安 全、勞動政策與人口政策之研討、發展 與實務推動操作

社會心理學老化理論 



瞭解許多正常的與有害的與年齡有關之社 會現象，來解釋老人在其生命過程變遷運 用的正常影響 學習依賴理論 (learned dependency theory) (Baltes,1996) ◦ 認為老年之依賴並非老化與衰退之必然結果， 大部份要歸因於社會境遇之影響



社會情緒選擇理論 ◦ 認為老人的社會網絡與社會參與減少，應視為 老人內心自動之資源再分配。老人不是簡單對 社會環境反應，更是主動安排經營他們內心主 觀的社會世界（ Baltes &Carstensen, 1999 ）。

人類學的老化理論 ◦ 對原始社會與現代社會之分析，瞭解老 人生活特性、種族社團、親屬關係、與 瞭解殘障老人的文化差異 ◦ 可改進目前之家庭與社會制度，增進不 同年代間之彼此互助與彼此互賴之社會 體制 ( 代間 ) ，使老人族群在晚年時可 面對經濟需求、醫療需求，獲得保健照 顧適當供應

成人發展與老化 是過程，非只是結果，終其一生經歷的過程 每一年齡階段變化都同等重要，持續累積的影響 發展的過程中呈現的變化 ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦

有增加也有減少 (loss & gain) 是多面向的，包括量性與質性的變化 每一個個體變化路徑 (path) 不逕相同，獨特個體 依主動參與程度，具有不同程度可塑性 變化具有持續性，非跳動的 與所處歷史脈絡、社會情境或文化特質息息相關 生命全程受環境或生物因子的影響在不同階段會有不同影響

發展學可從人類學 / 社會學 / 生物學 / 心理學 / 社會 心理學等多元 觀點來探討

成功老化 (sucessful aging) 

50 歲前相關的預測因子 ◦ 可控制的因子  酗酒、抽菸、婚姻穩定度、運動、 BMI 、調適能力、 教育。

◦ 不可控制的因子  原生家庭社經地位、家庭凝聚力、兒童期氣質、 50 歲時生理健康、憂鬱等



50 歲後相關的預測因子 ◦ 可控制的因子  酗酒、抽菸、婚姻穩定度、運動、 BMI 、調適能力、 教育

成功老化 Biomedical model :

◦ 慢性病症診斷數 (number of diagnosed chronic conditions) ◦ 身體功能 (physical functioning , ADL score) ◦ 心理疾病 (psychological morbidity, GHQ-12 score).

Broader Biomedical model :

◦ 前述各項 ◦ 過去一個月社交活動領域 (Number of areas of different social activities in the past month)

Social Functioning Model :

◦ 社交活動次數 the number of social activities, ◦ 生活支持領域 (areas of life supported/helped with) ◦ 與親友見面的頻率 (frequency of face-to-face social contacts with relatives and friends).

Age-friendly environment 8 topic areas as defined by WHO Outdoor Spaces & Buildings Does the natural and built environment help older persons get around easily and safely in the community and encourage active community participation?

Transportation Can older persons travel wherever they want to go in the community, conveniently and safely?

Housing Do older persons have housing that is safe and affordable and which allows them to stay independent as their needs change?

Age-friendly environment 8 topic areas as defined by WHO Respect & Social Inclusion Are public services, media, commercial services, faith communities and civil society respectful of the diversity of needs among seniors and willing to accommodate seniors in all aspects of society?

Social Participation Do seniors have opportunities for developing and maintaining meaningful social networks in their neighbourhoods?

Are the needs and preferences of seniors considered in planning by a diverse range of agencies and institutions?

Age-friendly environment 8 topic areas as defined by WHO Communication & Information Are seniors aware of the diverse range of programs and services available within their community? Is information readily available, appropriately designed and delivered to meet the needs of seniors?

Civic Participation & Employment Do older persons have opportunities to participate in community decision making?

Do older persons have opportunities to contribute their experience and skills to the community in paid or unpaid work?

Community Support & Health Service Do older persons have access to social and health services they need to stay healthy and independent?

A good marriage before age 50 Ingenuity to cope with difficult situations Altruistic behavior Stop smoking Do not use alcohol to the point where your behavior shames you or your family Stay physically active. Walk, run, mow your own grass, play tennis or golf Keep your weight down Pursue education as far as your native intelligence permits After retirement, stay creative, do new things, learn how to play again
