Introduction We are delighted that you will be attending the virtual Global Executive Retreat 2020 to learn in the company of over 70 of your peers from Europe and North America. The Global Executive Retreat this year has the theme ‘Navigating Uncertainty’ - a poignant theme for our troubled times and one which reflects that we are still in the midst of a global health and economic crisis, as well as heightened attention around equity and inclusion in the context of the Black Lives Matter movement. One impact of the health crisis is that the Global Executive Retreat 2020 will be delivered virtually in two sessions - each of two and a half hours on September 22 and 23. The event will cover broad topics within the ‘Navigating Uncertainty’ theme that will help us develop and support our companies and professional careers in this most uncertain time, and we are honoured to host Dave Ulrich, Tanuj Kapilashrami and Michael Arena in the program. As in previous years, we still aim to create unique opportunities for senior peers to truly get to know each other and deepen relationships during the Retreat, even though these conversations and connections are virtual. Day One - Tuesday September 22 How Analytics and Technology are Driving a more Human, Inclusive and Innovative Employee Experience at Standard Chartered Tanuj Kapilashrami is the Global Head of HR at Standard Chartered, which is one of the largest financial institutions in the world and one of the most important retail banks in Africa and Asia. The company has over $15billion in revenues, operates in 60 markets with 85,000 employees and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. In her session Tanuj will share her practitioner’s perspective on how people analytics supports decision making at Standard Chartered, and how in combination with digital technologies, is helping to craft a more human, inclusive and innovative employee experience that help shape future ways of working.

Day Two - Wednesday September 23 The Human Experience of Work in a Post-Pandemic World The global pandemic has changed the way that we all work for the foreseeable future possibly forever. This brings with it a different way of managing employee experiences and using data to drive our human decisions in the workplace. In uncertain times, making these choices and navigating the business landscape is as important as ever. This session will focus on discussing this future in both of these areas - the ‘new’ employee experience, and the use of people and experience data to drive decisions in a ‘postpandemic’ world. Jonathan Ferrar and Volker Jacobs will open with some thoughts on the future - taking lessons from Day One and bring their own ideas and practices from Insight222 and TI People respectively. The remainder of the session will focus on breakout discussions with your peers to discuss:
• What are the key employee moments in a post-pandemic world? • How are employee / manager / leader experiences different in a post-pandemic world? • How is people data going to help aid decision making in the ‘new’ world?

Day Two - Wednesday September 23 Michael Arena Masterclass: Adaptive Space - Shifting Between Virtual and Physical Work Arrangements To edge out the competition in today’s disruptive environment, you need to ensure that your company is agile - that it can respond to change instantly and effectively. This is even more true in the context of virtual work. Based on hundreds of interviews and multitudes of organisational network studies, this session will focus on how to position your company for today - and for the future - by enabling creativity, innovation, and novel ideas to flow freely among teams, across departments, and throughout the company. In this Masterclass, Michael will focus on:
• Providing an overview of social capital and adaptation • How network analysis can enable organisations to generate, incubate and scale ideas • A perspective of the future of work in a virtual working environment.
