Introduction We are delighted that you will be attending the Global Executive Retreat to learn in the company of 50 of your peers from Europe and North America. The Global Executive Retreat this year has the theme ‘NextGen HR’. This is a provocative theme, implying that HR professionals and functions are moving to another generation. As a profession, HR is relatively young compared with Finance or Legal, and so the idea that HR is maturing from its teenage years and branching out is a metaphor for life itself. Imagine a person leaving their parents’ house, or moving on from college to establish themselves in the world, finding their feet and discovering all the opportunities to add value and make an impact. Human Resources as a profession is going through that transformative stage currently - so at the Global Executive Retreat we will move and explore this NextGen HR phase. The event itself will consist of four broad topic areas that will help us develop, and move our companies and professional careers forward:

• Firstly, we will hear from Chief Human Resources Officers about their next steps in this NextGen world; • Secondly, together with John Boudreau we will learn and explore the ‘Reorganisation of Work’ and the implications for our companies and ourselves in a deep, reflective ‘Think Tank’;

• Third, we will make new friendships and deepen relationships as we learn about what is possible from each other;

• Finally, we will reflect on our own skills and push ourselves to new levels of learning for greater influence and action.

In this program overview we outline further detail about each of these aspects of the Global Executive Retreat as we push ourselves to think about NextGen HR.

Day One - Tuesday 24 September CHRO Panel and Dinner After informal drinks starting at 17.00, we start the formal activities at 18.00 with a Chief Human Resources Officer ‘panel’. This will take the format of a ‘husting event’ (for those of you that closely follow politics*). Each Chief Human Resources Officer will outline their NextGen HR thoughts in a short (5 minutes) speech. This will allow us all to get a good flavour of the future. A Q&A session will follow to allow participants to ask any, or all of the CHROs anything about the future and how they feel they, or the HR profession overall, is equipped to deliver value and create more impact. This session will be facilitated by Jonathan Ferrar to ensure that it doesn’t become too raucous, like some real-life hustings. No heckling allowed! While the messages are clearly serious for us all as HR professionals, this panel is a fun session to open activities and create a space for further conversation over dinner, which will follow at 19.30.

*A hustings is a meeting at which candidates in an election address potential voters.

Day Two - Wednesday 25 September Think Tank: Reorganisation of Work and Implications for HR Dr John Boudreau, University of Southern California Co-facilitated by Al Adamsen, David Green, Jonathan Ferrar and Volker Jacobs John Boudreau will talk about the Reorganisation of Work and the Implications for HR, bringing new learning from his recent book Reinventing Jobs. In summary, the Think Tank will cover four key topics:

• What is the Reorganisation of Work - what was it like, what is it like, what is it going to be like? • What is your ‘World of Work’ looking like and how will it change in the future? • What are the implications of all the changes for HR as a function, and for NextGen HR Executives? What do these implications mean to ‘NextGen’ functions like Analytics, Digital and Employee Experience?

• What are the steps that you can take now to prepare for the next 6, 12, 24, 60 months? What are the ways that Analytics, Digital and Employee Experience will deliver value over these timeframes?

The objectives of the Think Tank are to:

• Drive new learning about how the world of work is being reshaped. • Learn from case studies how HR NextGen functions and executives are creating more value in this new world. • Learn from each other how your organisations are tackling new challenges in Analytics, Digital, Planning & Employee Experience.

• Create a personal plan for action together with your peers.

Day Three - Thursday 26 September Personal Roadmap: Influencing for Value Insight222, TI People and Deeper Signals This session is focused on building a personal plan for Influencing for Value, by working with your peers and using the pre-work undertaken by all participants before the Retreat. In association with Deeper Signals and the personal expertise of Dr Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, we have developed a personality assessment that can help Senior HR Executives focus on their influencing and stakeholder management skills. The assessment will be completed before the event and we will use the results to pair you with similar - and opposite - personality peers to drive a deeper understanding of yourself. The objectives of the session are to:

• Discuss your personality with peers. • Learn from similar people about how they tackle problems. • Build a Personal Roadmap for ‘Influencing for Value’.
