Your Role on the County Board

Your Role on the County Board

Two main areas of focus:

1. Nominate fellow members to be placed on the annual election ballot.

2. Act as a liaison between the membership and Pioneer Electric.

1. You are our eyes and ears in your neighborhoods and communities. We encourage you to have fellow members reach out with concerns or help make us aware in certain situations.

2. Ask questions and relay information to help the membership understand decisions being made.

County Board vs. Board of Trustees

County Boards:

Typically meet 3 times a year

There are 3 county boards made up of 36 co-op members, 3 from each geographical area. Each member is elected to a 3-year term and can serve up to 7-consecutive terms

Board of Trustees:

Employs President/CEO

Establishes company policy

Provides organizational direction and oversight

Participates in education, training and conference opportunities

Meet for full-day meetings once a month, attend county board meetings + as needed meetings

Each of the 9 members is elected to a 3-year term, can serve up to 7-consecutive terms

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 or older

• Must be a current member of Pioneer, living in a home served by the cooperative

• Must be in good standing financially with the cooperative

• Must have a genuine desire to serve the best interests of the entire membership

• To ensure the diverse membership of Pioneer Electric Cooperative is represented on the Board of Trustees and the county boards, the nominating committees consider various factors that could impact an individual’s capacity to serve.
