SPRING 2024
Description
Potter’s Madina is a community of 200 apartments designed specifically for potters. It includes painting studios and pottery-making workshops where residents can learn and earn money. We chose to build it in Third Ward, close to Texas Southern University, to be part of the vibrant culture and offer educational opportunities. Potter’s Madina will have special ovens that use heat from the Earth to fire pottery. These ovens are eco-friendly and show our commitment to sustainability. They’ll be the centerpiece of our community, blending art with environmental consciousness.

Description
A prompt to design an Aluminum recycle center + a Multimedia center. Response was a concept of ‘Fragmentation’ redefines architectural design with ten pyramid-like modules harmoniously merged into an island’s landscape, creating an innovative recycling center that blurs indoor and outdoor spaces. Inspired by the surroundings, these modules interconnect through covered walkways, each featuring a central courtyard and unique roof designs for ample natural light. What distinguishes this project is its adaptable approach, utilizing flexible fragments to optimize spaces and blend materials creatively, from glass facades to exposed frameworks, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.

Description
The project’s concept is to create an open-closed design idea that combines the best of both worlds. The building is intended to have a partially open facade, allowing for natural ventilation, light, and views, while still maintaining privacy and security through the use of polycarbonate panels. Concrete is the primary material used for the building’s structure, providing a sturdy and durable foundation for the design. Polycarbonate panels are used for the facade, allowing natural light to pass through. These panels also provide thermal insulation, reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling. The incorporation of green walls and a rooftop garden adds a natural element to the building, promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for occupants.

Description
I designed the city of cubes which is a house+ that optimizes private space while creating a system of shared spaces. City of cubes takes the shape of the ground floor in La borda and applies as different side profiles.
The overhangs create a shaded space at the bottom where the most private area will be and then will become more public at the top where overhangs and rooftops will be utilized as different gathering areas. The design aims to minimize flooding effects by having minimal amount of cubes at the bottom and the cubes would increase as they go up. The building will have an opening at the front and the back facing the bayou in order for the water to take its way to the bayou without much effect to the walls.

Description
A wooden waffle shed system structure inspired by the Trail House by Studio Anne Holtrop and the Duchess County Residence by Allied Works Architecture. The design inherits the curvature of boundaries of the Trail house and adapts to the site by curving around the trees and sculptures. While it follows the system of infinity path from the Duchess Residence to cultivate the experience by focusing on the inside boundary. The curvature of the Trail House also reflects on the pathways and a circular field is formed of concrete flooring.
