Pero el “Bikini” dejó de ser el referente de esos hechos para convertirse en el nombre de la prenda más sugestiva de la moda. Así fue como los primeros diseños en papel de una ropa diminuta pasaron a la tela y de la tela a las primeras modelos que escandalizaron a la sociedad de la época. Y antes de que el “boom” del bikini explotara, Louis Reard, un ingeniero mecánico, contrató un avión para hacer publicidad aérea del bikini con un éxito arrollador. Whether or not this is true, Jacques Heim was the person who named this unusual bathing suit “bikini” in the twentieth century after Bikini Atoll, one of the many reefs in the South Pacific’s Marshall Islands. This place is known for being an ideal reef for scuba diving due to its natural richness and also is famous because during the 1940’s, the United States used it to test nuclear bombs. Nevertheless, the word “bikini” put aside those facts to become the most suggestive garment in fashion. That is how the first sketches of small garments became clothing and from there to the runway models that shocked the society of those days. Before the bikini took hold, Louis Reard, a mechanical engineer, hired an airplane to promote the bikini with great success. Back in those days at Cannes, you could see the airplane and read in the sky “bikini… the smallest bathing suit in the world”. The opening act of the Riviera Maya Underground Festival will have the presence of the representatives of the Mexican Filmmaking Institute, the Government of Quintana Roo, the Filmmaking Commission of Quintana Roo, the city council of Solidaridad, the Riviera Maya’s trust fund, the members of the grading jury and the Organization’s Committee. After the protocol act, a film will be shown and after that, the Mexican group Mezcalites will perform.
