Diplomatic Visitor Bio Mr. Phil Parkerson Public Diplomacy Officer, retired Director for International Education Miami Dade College

We are pleased to have Mr. Phillip T. Parkerson with us in class. First and foremost, Mr. Parkerson is an indispensable resource of information and it is an honor to have him join us today. He has devoted his professional life to a career in public service serving in worldwide posts ranging from Press Attaché at the U.S. Consulate­General in Sao Paolo, Brazil and at the U.S. Embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay; Cultural Attaché in the U.S. Embassy in Quito, Ecuador; Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela and La Paz, Bolivia. Additionally he has served as the Assistant to the Deputy Director and the Planning and Coordinating Officer at the U.S. Information Agency in Washington, D.C. It should be noted that aside from his incredible diplomatic posts, Mr. Parkerson has written a book titled Andrés de Santa Cruz y la Confederación Perú­Boliviana and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Today, he is serving as the Director of the Office of International Education at Miami Dade College. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Parkerson to our class.
