OCTA Research TUGON NG MASA (TNM) Nationwide Survey on compliance with
Minimum Public Health Standards and Other Probes (January 26 to February 1, 2021) OCTA Research is pleased to share some of the findings from its recent TUGON NG MASA (TNM) survey regarding Covid-19 in the Philippines. The survey respondents were asked about their compliance with minimum public health standards. We have also included other probes on Covid-19 for your reference. The Tugon ng Masa (TNM) National Survey is an independent and non-commissioned poll conducted by OCTA RESEARCH all over the country from January 26 to February 1, 2021. The TNM survey utilizes a multistage probability sample using face-to-face interviews with a sample size of 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above. The survey utilizes a sampling design that allows for a 95% confidence level with a ±3% margin of error. For any clarifications or questions about the TNM survey, kindly contact Dr. Guido David, OCTA Research Fellow at 09178073343 or via email at octaresearchphilippines@gmail.com.
While majority of adult Filipinos comply with the minimum Public Health Standards set by the DOH, less are able to observe social distancing Nine out of ten Filipinos use face mask and practice regular cleaning of hands using water and soap or alcohol/hand sanitizer to avoid contracting COVID-19. The use of face mask and regular cleaning of hands using water and soap or alcohol top the measures Filipinos practice to avoid contracting COVID19, with 91% and 90% of Filipinos practicing each, respectively. This is followed by the use of face shield (82%), followed by observing physical or social distancing (67%) and staying at home when it is not necessary to go out (60%). On the other hand, only a quarter of Filipinos (25%) avoid domestic travel while only a fifth (20%) consult a doctor or healthcare provider when not feeling well. Physical and social distancing, and staying at home are practiced more in the National Capital Region compared to the other areas, see Table 1.
