for student satisfaction. 91% of final-year undergraduates at Kent agreed that their overall university experience has been very rewarding. In response to the 2012 National Student Survey, the University of Kent’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Julia Goodfellow, expressed her delight in Kent’s continual academic achievements. She said: “I am pleased that our students rate their experience at Kent so highly… it also confirms that our continuous investment in teaching and research, undergraduate support, and residential and study environments, is recognised and valued by our many students.” Since its establishment in 1965, the University of Kent has continued to develop and thrive academically. In the 2012 Guardian newspaper
University League Table, Kent placed 22nd overall in the UK, progressing from 27th in 2011. In The Sunday Times University League Table, Kent rose nine places to 28th. In previous years, students have twice voted Kent as the top university in London and the South East, according to the NSS. Approximately 25% of the student population are international. Kent attracts a diverse population of students and is ranked as one of the top 400 universities in the world. India Mae, an undergraduate student in her second year of Forensic Science at Kent agrees with the latest statistics and believes that Kent “should definitely be highly ranked.” Coming from France, she “was worried to be put aside” but feels that “as the
European university, Kent do all they can to accommodate everyone, especially the international students.” Even first year undergraduate students are already impressed with Kent and the “great” facilities. Simran Judge, also studying Forensic Science, describes the student atmosphere at Kent as “outstanding” and has “really enjoyed” her first few weeks at Kent. Like many other students, she agrees that “Kent really does deserve its amazing ranking”. Shoked Soans, currently studying Physics, said: “from what I've seen from Kent so far, the teaching is brilliant and the teachers always have time to help you. Hopefully with all the new recognition we can help make Kent even better for future students.”
kent excels in national student survey
IN the 2012 National Student Survey (NSS), the University of Kent has been ranked fourth out of all publicly funded, multi-faculty higher education institutions in the UK for student satisfaction. Over 300 universities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland took part in the survey, demonstrating the increasing excellence of the University of Kent, often referred to as ‘the UK’s European University.’ The Open University placed first for overall student satisfaction, followed by Oxford and Cambridge who came joint second. The NSS confirms Kent as an advancing university, beating the majority of the high-status Russell Group universities
