I’m starting to see results and improvements and it’s exciting and motivating,” she said. Stroller Strides suggests new moms wait until baby is 6 weeks old and the doctor has signed off on vigorous exercise before beginning. Older children can ride along with mom on a bike or scooter, said Suzy Stenehjem, owner of InHer Strength Fitness LLC and the Phoenix/Scottsdale franchise.

s children run in a soccer field at Anthem’s community park, a circle of moms stretch on yoga mats next to strollers. One woman yells “30 seconds… 20 seconds… 10 seconds… Great job, ladies!” Moms are working out the best way they can—with children in tow—as members of Stroller Strides fitness group. An international fitness program geared toward new moms, Stroller Strides incorporates strollers, exercise tubing and the environment into a 60-minute full-body workout. The Anthem class meets at the community park Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. Moms of all fitness levels can join in the interval training, which includes a walking and running loop and muscle-toning

The group gives moms a much-needed opportunity to socialize through play dates and mom’s-night-out events throughout the month.
