Generating Knowledge 32 32 The Innovation Forum Under the guidance of experts, this space was again used to create an up-to-date picture of the latest trends and advances in ICTs. The aim was to foster collective reflexion and generate knowledge on potential education applications. This academic year featured editions on mobile learning (m-learning), touch technology and immersion worlds.

Over 300 people have attended the Innovation Forum since its beginnings. It has become a meeting point for reflection on technology and education for the University. Over 1000 monthly visits confirm that the site Forum Innovation is an important reference in internet, on the latest trends and developments in ICT.

Scene from the 9th Innovation Forum. Immersive spaces. This edition was held entirely in Second Life with 40 participants from the UOC and elsewhere taking part using avatars. The session took place at the Illa de Barcelona Virtual—a marketing agency specialized in the use of virtual worlds and creating 3D environments—and featured the distinguished speakers Paul Fleming (president of the Fleming, Torra & Associates consultancy firm), David Maniega (director of the UOC’s Open Innovation Office) and Vicent Partal (director of VilaWeb).
