ABBEYDALE PICTURE HOUSE

WHAT IS IT? ABBEYDALE Picture House is a Grade II listed cinema/multi-use event space.

Opened by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield on 20 December 1920, the Picture House was the largest and most luxurious cinema in Sheffield, often referred to as the ‘Picture Palace’ because of the luxurious cream and gold colour scheme, and dark mahogany seats trimmed with green velvet.

The Picture House also boasted many intricate decorations and carvings, a mosaic floor in the foyer and a glass canopy with a marble pillar to the outside of the building.

Our friends at CADS (Creative Arts Development Space) took on the lease of the building in 2017 and cleared behind the screen to get the amazing Fly Tower back into use. The Picture House is a beautiful space for gigs, performance, screenings, video/ photoshoots and for weddings!

APH is run by CADS who are a charity and community organisation. The venue is multi-purpose, hosting a wide range of community focused events. The charity’s aims mean the weddings are providing vital commercial income for the building.

We’ve tried to include as much as possible in the wedding package so that it is easy and affordable for people. We run the weddings in a DIY relaxed style but coordinated so it stays stylish and in-keeping with the building.

We recommend suppliers who are awesome and who know the space well as it isn’t the easiest space to work with.

FLOWERS WE work with a range of local, independent florists to help bring you the best floral inspiration for your day.

MUSIC WE try to work with DJs working on the bar scene in Sheffield. Many of the suggested DJs play at Picture House Social, The Great Gatsby and Bungalows and Bears. Live music is great in the Picture House so we can also recommend bands to your taste.

BAR

YOU are more than welcome to bring in your own caterer but because of the limited facilities we suggest people we know, trust and who work well with the building.

YOU can bring your own drinks during the day – a small corkage fee will apply. In the evening there is a licensed bar with a good selection of drinks.

CEREMONY ONLY £1800 n Full day hire 10am-5pm of auditorium and cafe bar with private car park n BYO n Coordinator from Inner City n The venue is licensed for ceremonies you must book your own registrar.

CEREMONY & RECEPTION £5000 n Full day and evening hire of entire building 10am-12am including auditorium, cafe bar, fly tower reception area and private car park. n This includes set up and coordination on the day from Inner City Weddings, supplier recommendations, lighting, tables, chairs and styling items. n Please contact us if you would like to visit the space.
