Crazy times are upon us as we draw ever closer to the December 21st prediction of a world coming to an end. So much of our thoughts are being focused on what will happen come that fateful day in December. Many are ravenously devouring any and all material that has to do with the ending of the Mayan calendar. I realize that it isn’t easy when all around us our senses are being overwhelmed with what we are feeding our minds about this monumental event.

ATTENTION

FORMER SUNFLOWER MARKET PATRONS We have been flooded with calls that In Light Times has not been available in SUNFLOWER MARKETS (now SPROUTS) for the past couple of months. IT IS NOT US - We have been informed they are no longer providing publications for their customers.

How can we prepare ourselves for what might or might not happen? I am sure there are many opinions to this question; however, again, the answers are simply speculations. There are no right or wrong solutions; if we come from fear, we may find ourselves being led astray. If our thoughts are based on trust in our own inner guidance and we are coming from love, then when an event such as December 21st arrives, our reactions will have a different vibration.

We would love to be back in there; however, we are available at Whole Foods and Winco. If you would like to see In Light Times back in Sunflower/ Sprouts, perhaps your voice will be heard by Sprouts management.

We have all heard it before, fear creates fear, (fear is a destructive nature); love creates more love (love is unification with Divine Providence).

In the meantime, please call us to find out a location nearest you to pick up the latest issue of In Light Times.

Whom am I to say what we must do? I choose to trust all is within the Divine Plan. I choose to stay centered; call a timeout and not be in judgment. I realize this can be difficult; however, worry and stress is liken to the chicken that ran around saying, “the sky is falling, the sky is falling” only to discover skies of blue with a brilliant sun shining for all to see clearly.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

So, whether we are on the bandwagon or doing our own “thing”, let us not forget, we are all in this together and we will survive whatever may transpire. So, as we enter the holiday season, it important to be grateful and to find that silver lining in all our experiences. Thanksgiving blessings to one and all, In Love & Light,

November Gemstone

Pure topaz is colorless and transparent but is usually tinted by impurities; typical topaz is wine, yellow, pale gray, reddish-orange, or blue brown. It can also be made white, pale green, blue, gold, pink (rare), reddish-yellow or opaque to transparent/translucent. Orange topaz, also known as precious topaz, is the traditional November birthstone, the symbol of friendship, and the state gemstone of Utah. Affects the Sacral chakra (2nd), to the Solar Plexus (3rd).

Topaz is known as a ‘stone of true love and success in all endeavors’. It can promote individuality and creativity, while providing for confidence in trusting ones decisions. It acts to replace negativity with love and joyfulness. is the ‘crystal of potency’, and quite instrumental in visualization (for healing and/or attracting), in meditation, and in projection. It can be used to manifest health and correct disorders in the body. White Topaz or Colorless Topaz key words are: spirituality, psychic gifts, and mental clarity. Its element is Fire, and the chakras affected are the Crown 7th, Etheric 8th – 14th above the head. Each of the other vibrations of color has slightly different key words and affects various other chakras. Such as Golden Topaz (Imperial Topaz) key words are: Manifestation of personal intention, will and desires. Element is still Fire, and the affected chakra is the Solar Plexus. The Blue Topaz key words are: Enhancement of mind and communication. Element is Fire, and the chakras affected are the Throat (5th), and the Third Eye (6th). RESOURCES: Zolar’s, “The Book of Stones”, Wikipedia, “Love is in the Earth”

Imperial topaz is yellow, pink (rare, if natural) or pink-orange. Brazilian Imperial Topaz can often have a bright yellow to deep golden brown hue, sometimes even violet. Many brown or pale topazes are treated to make them bright yellow, gold, pink or violet colored. Some imperial topaz stones can fade on exposure to sunlight for an extended period of time. Blue topaz is the state gemstone of Texas. Naturally occurring blue topaz is quite rare. Typically, colorless, gray or pale yellow and blue material is heat-treated and irradiated to produce a more desired darker blue. Mystic topaz is colorless topaz which has been artificially coated, thus giving it the desired rainbow effect. Metaphysical Meaning: Topaz is known as a ‘stone of true love and success in all endeavors’. It can promote individuality and creativity, while providing for confidence in trusting ones decisions. It acts to replace negativity with love and joyfulness.

White Topaz

It is said to be one of the stones in the breastplate of the high priest. The energy of the topaz acts through the laws of attraction and manifestation. This mineral

Change Your FREQUENCY While staying at a hotel, I signed up for wireless Internet service. To my disappointment, the service kept going on and off. A call to tech support did not help much. Finally the technician concluded there must have been some interference near my room. He suggested I change rooms. So at 1am I packed my gear and trudged to another hotel room.

may attempt to avoid such situations, if you find yourself in a position where you have to attend, you can seize the moment to practice vertical rather than horizontal movement.

that person as an angel who has come to help you find inner strength. You have a spiritual contract with that person to assist you to build soul muscles. If you can choose to thrive

I’m not suggesting you never change relationships, jobs, or hotel rooms, or that you have to attend gatherings with energy vampires. Sometimes a move is indicated, and “no” is the most helpful response. But there are times when changing your mind is far more effective than changing your position. Ultimately your mind is your position.

I logged onto the wireless service and found that the reception in this room was no better. Stymied, I scanned for other wireless services in the hotel and found there was another one available. I logged onto it and it worked perfectly. So I didn’t need to change rooms after all. I just needed to change my frequency. Many of us are tempted to change jobs, houses, or spouses, and sometimes that works. Yet it’s not unusual that when you get to your new situation you find it to be simply a repeat of the old one. In many cases you didn’t need to change the situation. You just needed to change the point from which you were looking at it. More often we need to make a vertical move rather than a horizontal one. Instead of moving to the side, move up. Dr. Michael Ryce offers a workshop called, “Why is this Happening to me Again?” He cites this example: “You fly away from New York to get away from a relationship that isn’t working, and the person who meets you at the airport in Los Angeles finishes the sentence that the person you left in New York started.” The world we experience is not created by people or situations. It is created by our thoughts. The most powerful place to start changing the world is in your mind. If you try to change your world without first changing your mind, the world will not change. When you change your mind, everything changes. We are entering the holiday season, which often brings up lots of juicy m a t e r i a l f o r s p i r i t u a l g ro w t h . You might face family and social gatherings with people who annoy, insult, or drive you crazy. While you

some delicious and others horrid. You get to experience the station or URL you tune in on. If a bad show comes on, it will do you no good to yell back at the station or curse the web page. You have the option to choose another frequency. An old Microsoft tagline is quite appropriate here: Where would you like to go today?

The most powerful place to start changing the world is in your mind. If you try to change your world without first changing your mind, the world will not change. When you change your mind, everything changes. To illustrate: A woman called into my radio show, “Get Real on Hay House Radio” (www.HayHouseRadio. com) and reported she had to go to a weekend family meeting with members who bug her. I suggested, “Before the weekend, sit quietly for a few minutes and make up your mind that your only goal for the weekend is inner peace. No matter what anyone says or does, you will stay centered in your calm inner space. Completely withdraw any power you have given your relatives to make you unhappy.” That might be a good practice for all of us to adopt. If you can hold your inner peace in the presence of someone who has regularly irked you, you earn your spiritual graduation diploma. Consider yourself in a seminar called, “Happiness before all else.” Reframe

in their presence, no matter what they say or do, they will likely spin out of your orbit. If they don’t, you won’t really care because you have mastered the lesson they have come to help you learn. “A Course in Miracles” tells us, “The holiest spot on Earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love.” Think of life as a big radio tuner or Internet browser. There are millions of stations or web pages to choose from,

Your problem may not be, as the tech support fellow told me, interference from somewhere outside your room. Your problem might be interference from illusion. The answer to interference from illusion is not to substitute one illusion for another. The only answer to illusion is truth. Reality doesn’t move illusions around. Reality sees beyond them. The secret to a great holiday season may be what you have heard millions of times from your favorite radio and television shows: Stay tuned.

By Daniel Rechnitzer

As Daniel Rechnitzer considers the concept of Whole Brain Intelligence, he explains how becoming all-knowing can help us in our role as coaches.

I

t is January 1, 2017, New Year’s Day. I sit and reflect on the year gone by. I am in awe of what has transpired around the world – industries have gone through major flux, having to reach new levels of accountability. But one industry stands tall – the coaching industry. It too has undergone massive transformation, like an adult becoming wiser and learning who they really are, learning what is true.

A grin stretches across my face as I am reminded of my own journey, when I began to discover all that I am… It was the time I first saw Whole Brain Intelligence in action, when I learned what is truly possible for us. It was June 1997, I had just sat down to relax when I was startled by the phone ringing. It was a dear friend of mine with an invitation not to be missed. He had been telling me about a couple who had “abilities” – they could see things about a person, know who they were at their core, they were “amazing”, he said, and they were in town tonight. I decided to embark on this adventure and head out to meet them, to see what was behind these stories. I am so glad I did. It was 7pm – we had arrived on time. The room was filled with people. Electricity was in the air; everyone was smiling. It was so contagious that I couldn’t help smiling too. I was invited by an older woman to experience a treatment – she was the one my friend had told me about. How could I refuse a first-hand glimpse of what these people were capable of? I lay down on the massage table, ready and open. She needed to calm me, because I was top-heavy with adrenalin and fear. She spoke softly and calmly, making me feel safe and finally at ease. She placed her hands gently upon my head, sitting behind me. She began talking, remarking about things that were incredibly familiar to me. We had only met for a few seconds and she began recounting my entire life story, revealing to me the reasons why I was feeling stuck in my life, why my back was aching and why I was avoiding a deeper commitment in my relationships. Incredibly, it was all true – every word she spoke. We had barely met, uttered only a few words to one

PAGE 8 • NOVEMBER, 2012 • IN LIGHT TIMES

another, but she spoke about me as though she had participated in every moment of my life – as though she had been watching me since birth. How was she doing this? Was this even possible? It was as though she had tapped into the truth about my life: who I was, how I was living, what my struggles were, all my key frustrations and – best of all – the answers to resolving them.

But it wasn’t until this investigation took me to meeting my wife Sonja…beautiful inside and out, that together we were able to take this realm of Whole Brain Intelligence to a profound new level of understanding.

Some discoveries on our journey

Home truths

We were shown that Whole Brain Intelligence is a unique configuration of the brain, currently quite rare and, in fact, the epitome of brain function. It is where both hemispheres of the brain begin resonating in unison to bring in information beyond what people already know. Like an antenna, the brain actually perceives frequencies of information, similar to a radio picking up on signals, but from everything: people, places, situations and, most importantly, from a sublime consciousness within – the SuperConscious.

But what was particularly startling for me was how she spoke. She wasn’t using her own words, they were my words, my very thoughts – the precise sentence structure, word for word, the exact phrasing of my own thoughts. Needless to say, a paradigm was collapsing.

Our Whole Brain Intelligence gives us the unique ability to pierce the veil of what seems real, giving us clarity as to what is actually real – to read between the lines and see the hidden truths. Life mimics our thought patterns. Our wellbeing reflects our innermost thoughts, our outer universe reflects our innermost universe, and so on. It is through Whole Brain Intelligence that we get to see behind the scenes to the thoughts buried deep, the thoughts that are at the root cause of our life experiences: our marriage breakdowns, our financial struggles, illness and disease, the success or failure of our business ventures, even who we are as a species.

She told me more about how I was feeling about my parents, about school and how I was being particularly self-destructive in my life. She gave me radical insights, answers to questions that had bothered me for months. It all came so easily to her. I was amazed, to say the least. It felt as though she knew more about me than I did.

Could it be that my thoughts were no longer under lock and key? How was she accessing my mind? All this time I had thought my thoughts were private, hidden from view. Clearly, I was mistaken. What I had just experienced was extraordinary. My father had often told me about a phenomenon called Universal Intelligence (Ui), but to be faced with it like this, out of the blue… What a mind-blowing experience! My neck was healed; I had clarity and certainty about my life. I had received answers to all my questions, but most importantly something more expansive had occurred. I was shown the truth, a new paradigm where answers on any topic could be accessed. Everything changed from this point on – how could it not? Like many life-expanding experiences, I resisted this transformation at first. It was too simple and so extraordinary all at the same time. Well, what you resist persists, so despite my best efforts to conform to societal norms and practices, life had other plans for me, and many others as well. Life led me to learn more about these skills, our nature, the truth about our potential, how our belief holds us back and what really creates illness in the body…

We realized a profound misunderstanding had occurred across humanity – our brain was not standalone at all, rather it can be compared to wireless internet, connecting everyone and everything. It is just that we were not taught this in school, leading us to draw upon a standalone brain only. Our brain can only do what is expected of it. We learned that underpinning our Whole Brain Intelligence, essentially linking all human beings, is a field of frequencies, like a melting pot of knowledge and wisdom, of thoughts and intelligence known, and thoughts yet to be discovered. Like ripples over a still pond, this field relays information and insights to those using Whole Brain Intelligence, giving knowledge, wisdom and guidance – a true gift to coaches. Contained within this field are all the answers: how to experience an all-natural pain-free birth, how to move someone from depression to being on purpose in life, how to grow people from living a mediocre life to experiencing their own greatness in every moment. It is abundant in wisdom, truth and a myriad ways to protect and grow our future. Continued Next Page *

in your brain—a new train of thought. To live an inspired life your mind must cultivate empowering thoughts through your beliefs, assumptions, agreements, words, feelings, choices, and actions.

Dr. Bruce Lipton, in his book “The Biology of Belief”, describes his groundbreaking work in the field of New Biology providing powerful scientific information about how the brain works based on cell biology. Dr. Lipton is a former medical school professor and research scientist. His experiments, and those of other leading-edge scientists, have examined in great detail the processes by which cells receive information. The implications of this research radically change our understanding of life. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; instead, DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts. Dr. Lipton’s profoundly hopeful synthesis of the latest and best research in cell biology and quantum physics is being hailed as a major breakthrough showing that our bodies and our experience can be changed as we retrain our thinking.

Here is how it works: The brain is made up of cells called neurons. These cells have nerve endings called synapses and dendrites. Nerve endings release chemical and electrical stimuli to communicate with each other. This communication forms neuralpathways in the brain and is the basis for how the

When you initially learn something, the pathway is weak. Neuro-pathways that are habitually used (consciously or unconsciously) are the “path well traveled.” It is easy for your mind to follow these pathways, these routes, and they become your dominant and automatic thoughts and beliefs, which then generate your feelings—your energetic frequency. Think about when you first learned to ride a bike. You had to consciously pay attention to staying balanced, keeping your eyes on the road, holding onto the handlebars, and steering in your desired direction. In addition, your feelings probably included feeling scared, unsure, and frustrated. Then, the more you practiced the stronger your bicycle-riding brain pathways became and your feelings of confidence and certainty in your bicycleriding expertise flourished.

How does this change coaching?

The ability to draw on this field gives rise to helping people in a profound new way. The truth really does lie within and, armed with Whole Brain Intelligence, we can all access it, share it and grow from it. Harnessing this field in a coaching setting gives access to tapping into a person’s core being. The answers to their entire life journeys lay hidden beneath layers of self-doubt. A practitioner is no longer reliant on their thinking mind, but is accessing answers from the SuperConscious intelligence running through the client and connecting all of us. A coach simply holds an intention to uncover the truth about a situation; to uncover the perfect path forward. The answers arrive almost immediately, they do not need to

be thought about or considered, because they already exist, waiting to be accessed. The truth already exists within every one of us, and Whole Brain Intelligence is the key to unlocking it. It is somewhat like having Google as your brain, accessing anything – in this case, your client’s life story, belief systems and ultimate perfect fulfilling path. Daniel Rechnitzer is the author of, “The All Knowing Diary”, a treasure map to All Knowing. Like an ancient manuscript, it reveals timeless wisdom and priceless truths. Daniel and his wife Sonja founded Ui Group (Universal Intelligence), pioneering advanced courses in All Knowing, from beginner to self-mastery and practitioner levels. For additional information on Whole Brain Intelligence visit, www. AllKnowingDiary.com.

Eventually, you were able to get on your bike and ride without thinking. You were operating on automatic. A strong brain pathway had been created as though a new brain software application had been uploaded and was seamlessly operating in your mind.

When Did I Get OLD?

W

hen did I get old? It’s a question I never asked myself until recently. I was in Brasilia, Brazil. It was the first stop of a three-hour tour of the city and I was with Barb, a woman a few years older than I. And, okay, I’ll admit it, we were by far the oldest people in the group, but we didn’t think anything of it until, at our first stop, one of the guards suggested we take the lift they had for people who were unable to climb the stairs. We declined the offer in our halting Portuguese, but finally gave in because the guard was so insistent. At the second level, another guard helped us out of the lift. When we were out of earshot, I leaned over to Barb and whispered, “Barb, when did we get old?” We didn’t feel old, and we knew we were perfectly capable of walking up the stairs. But I thought about it, and decided that it might be fun to play the “old” card for the rest of the tour. So when the young people got on the tour van first and left it for us to crawl over them to the back seats, I said, “No, we can’t squeeze back there.” And we were given the good seats near the entry door…because we were “old.” Then the next day when I went to board my plane back to the U.S., I was ushered onto the plane ahead of the first-class passengers because I was “old.” But this “old” thing shouldn’t have come as a surprise to me. I remember 15 years ago when I was at my niece’s home for Christmas. Because the house was bursting at the seams with overnighters, I expected to be sleeping on the floor. Instead I was given a bed. Suddenly, with no warning, I had become “an

High Wisdom Consultations

elder.” But actually, there were warnings. First AARP wanted me. Then I started getting senior discounts at the movies and in restaurants. And young people started calling me “Ma’am.” Silly me, I thought I was still young. At least that’s how I felt on the inside. Have you ever had that happen to you? You think of yourself one way, but you get bombarded with outside feedback to the contrary? And despite the feedback, you know that how you see yourself is right. It could be as simple as starting a project because you’re confident you will succeed. Then people start telling you that you can’t do it because you’re too young, you don’t have the education or experience, no one has ever done it before, etc. You think of yourself as successful while others doubt you. You forge ahead because you know you’re right. That’s kind of how I view aging. Others may think I’m getting old, but I know they’re wrong. I learned that from my mother. When she was about my age, she told me, “You know, when I look in the mirror, I wonder who that old person looking back at me is, because inside I feel 35.” I know what she was talking about because, basically, there are two types of aging. First, there’s the type that is measured in our human perception of the physical progression of our bodies. It’s that perception that allowed me to board the plane in Brasilia ahead of first class and gets me the senior discounts here. But there’s the other type of aging—the type my mother identified. It’s how we feel inside. I think that’s our true age. When we look at people and say they are old before their time, it’s because of how they feel within. When we consider someone ageless, it’s because of how they think of themselves. The same goes for success, love, beauty, happiness, prosperity, and health. It’s the image we have of ourselves that is most important. There will always be naysayers. Those who look at the outer and label it as “real.” But when we look within, we see the perfection of who and what we truly are. And when we look within someone else, we see their perfection and greatness. Imagine what a difference it would make in our own lives, in the lives of other, and in the world, if we looked to the inner to find truth. When I do that with myself, I know I never need ask, “When did I get old,” because, truly, I am ageless.

Can We ‘Imagine’ Ourselves Into a New Reality?

D

reams and imagination are the paints, the colors, used to create the portrait we call life. Choose them wisely. We do this by observing and adjusting our thoughts to align with our intention. Be willing to dream and imagine yourself becoming all you wish to be. Be open, humble, and gracious. If you live from those imaginings, as though they have already come into existence, the universe will align with you in bringing all you wish…even more. Elevating one’s ordinary level of consciousness, or what Thoreau calls “common hours,” means elevating the level of success you will be able to attract. All that now exists was once imagined. It follows that what you want to exist in the future must now be imagined. The intensity of one’s intention becomes at issue when manifesting. When I was in Beijing, China, living amongst the Tibet monks, studying at the Lama Temple, I met with Erdijanzi, a Tibetan monk 23 years old. I asked Erdijanzi how much time he spent each day in meditation. He replied, “I do not know”. After a few minutes of cross-examination I realized that in between questions the young monk went back to his Mala beads to quiet his mind. In doing so he was in essence training his brain to become present. It occurred to me that any intention set over the top of this clean slate (brain wave) must effect the quality and velocity of the intention. This process would eliminate the noise most of us suffer from in setting a manifestation into motion. As a painter, then student of architecture and landscape architecture, I learned to look at the world and see things differently. Natalie Alpert was an instructor who explained during my first architecture design studio that by the time we graduated we will have learned to look at the world through different eyes. We would actually train our brain to “look up,” as she put it. In essence, Natalie was suggesting we look through “the noise” of our environment and seek out the beautiful. I have been blessed to have manifested an amazing life using this process which includes setting a clear intention, aligning one’s behaviors, then detaching. I was raised in a Lutheran German household that included three days in

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau

church a week, choir, alter boy service and orchestra. Some of this was fairly tiresome, and we were taught that pain, effort, and being on time were a precursor to success, since these activities built self-discipline. “They” were two-thirds right. Step one and two—intend and then declare. Step three, detach…not so much. Detaching involved a deeper feeling we call faith. It means actually giving up control and allowing the universe to do “its” thing. Unfortunately, most of us, including me, tend to be self-critical; we judge, we disallow. These particular thoughts are in precisely the opposite direction of initiating a manifestation of our intention. These types of thoughts and actions are about being in ego vs. in spirit or inspired and dilute the manifestation process. Thoreau called this process advancing confidently in the direction of your own dreams. (I call it intend, declare, detach.) Carlos Castenada called this “connecting” to an intention. Wayne Dyer, a much-lauded self help lecturer and public television celebrity, was strongly influenced by Castaneda’s book, “The Active Side of Infinity”. Dr. Dyer writes in his book, “The Power of Intention” that he experienced “satori” or instant awakening when he read two sentences in Castaneda’s book. This Satori was his realization that the power of intent was not just a self-help, personal technique one does, but rather a force that actually exists in the universe as an invisible field of energy that we connect to.

What YOU

By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer (excerpt Oct. Newsletter)

Conceive Of

It’s my contention that the universe not only will, but must provide you with what you conceive of. So if you complain about what’s missing from your life—including the money that you believe to be in short supply—you’ll be offered experiences that match that energy. When you say, “I love my job, but I’ll never get rich at it,” you’re aligning with a frequency that will give you what you think. This is why, I believe, the rich often get richer…it’s certainly been true for me since I left poverty behind me some 60 years ago. By staying focused on what I intend to create, by believing that the universe is all-providing, and by knowing that I’m worthy of the unlimited beneficence of the Source of being, I just keep attracting prosperity to me. And by being unattached to what shows up, which means that I have no desire for more and more, I’m able to let it go easily.

Stay in a state of gratitude, and let the awesome yet unexplainable Tao proceed to do nothing and yet leave nothing undone. Rather than asking for more—which implies shortages and, therefore, creates a vibrational match to more shortages—focus on what you have and how thankful you are for everything that has shown up in your life. To that end, keep in mind a “happiness index” that was recently taken for different countries around the world. It turns out that Nigeria, which is one of the poorest of nations, with the least modern of conveniences, came in at number one for reports of happiness among the people there. The U.S. ranked 46 out of 50, despite having one of the highest standards of living in the world. Apparently, the emphasis in Nigeria isn’t on the mantra of the ego, which demands more, more, more. Emphasizing needing more has built within it the idea of shortage, lack, and I don’t have enough. Consequently, when you think more, you become a vibrational match to experiencing more shortage in your life…like it or not! Affirm: I am aligned with my Source in all my thoughts, and with God, all things are possible.

When coming to a human transaction from a place of spirit or being inspired, we are engaging forces that exist beyond ourselves. It is these forces that Thoreau, Max Planck, Albert Einstein, C.G. Jung, Carlos Castaneda and many others refer to when speaking on the topic of connecting to an intention and then allowing it to become manifest. Observe your thoughts, set a clear intention, align your behaviors with this intention, then detach. Whatever reality you seek can become manifest using this process. Jogging With Your Dog By Andy Zagg

Jogging with your dog can be great exercise and quality time with your best friend. It can also be dangerous for both you and your dog. There are a number of important steps to take to ensure that you and your dog both get the most out of the experience. 1. Wait until your dog is at least 6 months old before taking it out and only jog with active larger breeds. 2. Always run with your dog on a leash. 3. Take it easy. Your dog’s joints and muscles need to adapt to jogging just like yours. Ease your dog into jogging by distance and frequency. 4. Always carry water. 5. Expect the unexpected. Especially at first your dog may have difficulty staying concentrated. 6. Give your dog encouragement. I have seen so many dogs who come up lame after only 2 or 3 times out on the trail and I’ve seen numerous owners with broken bones and scrapes. It is important to start slow and get accustomed to jogging with your dog. If you do you may end up with the best workout partner you’ve ever had.

et beds are a necessity for any pet lover. There’s a misconception that if your pet sleeps in your bed, they don’t need pet beds. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Think for a moment about the last time you walked around your house without your socks on. If this happened during the winter months, your feet were sure to be freezing. When you leave for school, work, or any other activity during the day, your dog is left in your home. During the day, your dog will lay down on the floor. The same cold floor that caused your feet to freeze is the daily resting place of your dogs. This chilling possibility is removed, when

Useful Pet Travel Tips By George Chao

S

o you are getting ready to go on that long-awaited and much-deserved vacation. If you are a proud pet owner, you have taken your pet into consideration while you planned your vacation. Or have you? Below are a few pet travel tips you may want to consider.

✪✪ Should you take your pet with you when you go off on vacation? Consider how old your pet is. He or she may be too old to travel. If you are going on a long journey or flying, your pet may not be able to handle the stress brought on by traveling long distances and long hours. It may be better to leave your pet with a friend or arrange for a professional pet caretaker to take care of your pet while you are on vacation. ✪✪ If you decide to take your pet along, ensure that your pet’s health is good and that he can travel. A week or two before you go on vacation, take your pet to his veterinarian for a thorough check up. You want to make sure that your pet is in the best of health when you travel. ✪✪ When traveling by car, make sure your pet has a collar on at all times. The collar must have your pet’s name, your name, your address and phone numbers. Keep in mind that when you travel with your pet in a car, they can easily run off while your back is turned. If your pet is wearing a collar with all the right information, whoever finds him can easily contact you for your pet’s safe return. If possible, have a microchip embedded in your pet as this is one of the best ways to have a link to your pet if he ever gets lost. ✪✪ Ensure that your pet’s carrier or crate is big enough for your pet. Keep in mind that your pet dog may have a hard time traveling in the car in a crate, and if your pet is a cat, your cat must be in a cage while you travel by car. If you are traveling by plane, you will be required to place your pet in a crate. Make sure to get a crate that is airline approved and is of the highest quality. ✪✪ Before leaving with your pet, groom him. Make sure their claws are clipped and his fur trimmed. Pamper your pet before you embark on your vacation. They will be much happier traveling if he has been groomed and is clean. ✪✪ Bring plenty of water and dried food for your pet while you are both on the road. Bring one of those traveling containers that you can use to store food and keep them cold.

(Whitman had the first two in abundance; but the third, one could argue, was not his forte.) Tao is the energy of life, and so it encompasses both the practical and the mystical. The key is to find the balance between them, and this is the authors’ objective in The Tao of Walt Whitman. In this volume they have applied the Whitman scriptures to daily life, to Tao. They’ve chosen a Taoist principle for each week of the year, and a Whitman verse that expresses or comments on that principle for each day, Monday through Saturday. They’ve given readers something to do or reflect on for the day with the aim of plumbing the depths of Taoist Whitman wisdom.

“Carefully researched and meticulously referenced, every page of this unpretentious, downto-earth, gratifyingly accessible volume speaks directly to the concerns that we all have about how best to live in a toxic world. Chock full of simple, easy, quick and effective health-promoting “hot tips” culled from the doctors’ decades of experience from internationally acclaimed pediatrician and award-winning environmental physician. This priceless gem of a book is loaded with beautiful pearls of wisdom. What a magnificent and generous contribution Dr. Rapp has made with this extraordinary compilation of lifesaving pearls - a must-have reference guide for all those who care about their own health, the health of their loved ones and the health of this planet.” - Martha Stark, M.D. Faculty, Harvard Medical School. undalini Yoga is a scientific method that was designed by sages in India thousands of years ago to promote total body, mind and spirit well-being along with a heightened state of consciousness. The practice of Kundalini was kept a closely guarded secret and was carefully handed down through oral tradition from master to disciple and never taught publicly until 1969 in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco. A Kundalini Master from India named Yogi Bhajan decided to challenge this age old tradition of secrecy and brought all the teachings he spent years mastering to the world at a pivotal turning point in the history of humankind, “The Aquarian Age”. He understood the importance of preparing for this spiritual awakening during the shift from the “Age of Pisces” to the “Age of Aquarius”; as the transition may be quite challenging for humanity. He began teaching classes, giving lectures, and training others to teach Kundalini to the masses. He also founded an organization called the “3HO”, which is an acronym for “Healthy, Happy, Holy”. The organization has centers around the globe with the primary focus of sharing this sacred wisdom with the world. Although Yogi Bhajan was a practitioner of the “Sikh” faith, his lectures included powerful words of wisdom for people of all faiths and he has been quoted saying such things as “When you don’t go within, you go without” and “I don’t believe in miracles. I rely on them”. The enigmatic holy man’s legacy has lived on past his death through the many practicing and teaching Kundalini Yogis worldwide.

Kundalini and the Chakras It is believed by many cultures around the world that there are energy centers in the body called “chakras”. The word chakra means “Wheel of Light” in ancient Indian Sanskrit and the science of working with these energy centers is a centuries old method that is considered to be sacred medicine. The chakra system in the human form can be understood and felt on the subtle level of one’s being. Energy exists all around and

The word chakra means “Wheel of Light” in ancient Indian Sanskrit and the science of working with these energy centers is a centuries old method that is considered to be sacred medicine. through us. The chakras allow that universal energy (consciousness) to move from one frequency to another in a spiraling fashion along the spine and throughout the body through the Nadis (channels). There are seven major chakras in the physical body aligning with the spinal column that extend out to the auric field. Each has a specific function and quality and they all work together as a system to help us strive for health, balance, happiness and serenity. The lower triangle chakras (root, sacral and solar plexus) are associated with the material world and physical form while the upper triangle chakras (heart, throat, third eye and crown) are associated with the spiritual human experience. Understanding and working with the chakras is beneficial to correct possible imbalances; a person can actually experience a profound mental, physical, emotional and spiritual shift in consciousness. Each chakra has both positive and negative aspects. For example, the root chakra at the base of the spine is associated with the positive characteristics of stability, grounding oneself and creating a strong and solid foundation in one’s life. A person who is considered to be “stable and grounded” and seems to have a positive outlook is experiencing a healthy root chakra that is functioning properly and well balanced. Conversely, a person who is unable to create a life of stability and often feels that his/her survival is threatened is experiencing an imbalance in the root chakra. These imbalances occur as a direct result of the developmental stages of one’s life and the situations that created the memories affecting a particular chakra or chakras. An individual can develop poor patterns of behavior and habits that become a cycle of negativity which affects the chakras. Kundalini Yoga can serve to correct these imbalances and help an individual heal in much the same way therapy helps in the healing process. Working with the chakras is an amazing journey that enables a person to “go within” and find passion, joy, strength, compassion and a sense of inner peace. Although it can present challenges at times, there are transformative opportunities for change and profound healing. The following chart illustrates some of the aspects and properties associated with each chakra. There is much

information on the subject of chakras with a wide array of resources available such as the internet, books, DVDs, etc. This chart is just a basic and brief overview of each of the seven major chakras. To find out more about all the qualities of the chakras I recommend a book aptly titled, “The Chakra Bible” by Patricia Mercier.

Kundalini Awakening he word Kundalini is an Indian Sanskrit word which translates to “Serpent energy awakening and rising”. The practice of Kundalini Yoga raises ones vibrational level through a series of krias (movements), asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), chants, mantras and deep meditation. This latent potential energy is likened to a coiled serpent at the base of the spine known as “Shakti” that is stimulated and awakened by the aforementioned techniques. Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga, this serpent energy lies dormant and coiled 3 ½ times around the base of the spine. When aroused, Shakti is awakened and moves upward through each chakra in the physical body along a channel that aligns with the spine called the “Sushumna” column. On the right and left sides of this column are intertwining feminine/masculine channels called the “Ida” (lunar/female) and the “Pingala” (solar/male) which transport the energy to

each of the chakras both up and down the spine as well as to the “Nadis” (pathways) extending to all areas of the physical body and auric field surrounding the body. Simultaneously, “Shiva” (consciousness) energy is being summoned and brought down from the cosmos through the crown chakra to be united with the Shakti energy coming up from the root chakra. It is this unification of both aspects of cosmic energy that creates a sense of balance, heightened awareness and higher consciousness. Shakti is the feminine aspect of the energy of creation through form and the material world whereas Shiva is the energy of the creator, formless and masculine. This phenomenon has a profound affect on an individual’s mental, physical, emotional and spiritual states of being and is said to produce a “Kundalini Awakening”.

There is much mystery, varied experiences, and a bit of controversy surrounding the idea of a “Kundalini Awakening” …

There is much mystery, varied experiences, and a bit of controversy surrounding the idea of a “Kundalini Awakening”. To begin with, each person’s experience is unique and based on many diverse factors. Many people report a feeling of connectedness, euphoria, deepened spirituality and a sense of being one with the cosmos. Some of the physical feelings are a tingling sensation or heat along the spinal column and in the limbs, weightlessness and cathartic energy. There are also feelings of increased sensuality, passion and desire. These are among some of the common reported experiences of a positive nature. Sometimes these are fleeting sensations and other times there is a lasting effect for several days. Through a regular practice of Kundalini Yoga a couple of days a week the effects become less intense and can be maintained at an even, pleasant and productive level of energy. It is considered by many gurus and yogis to be the “fast track” to achieve a sense of bliss that can blossom like a lotus flower to complete enlightenment. Conversely, there are individuals whom have had a somewhat overwhelming, negative experience such as anxiousness, nervousness, and in a few cases an emotional or mental psychotic episode. Though these experiences are rare, it has created a bit of controversy around the subject of the safety of practicing Kundalini. Similar to therapy, an individual can experience a breakthrough that can be a bit challenging while

awakening this energy. This is often connected to serious imbalances in one or more of the chakras and a release of energy associated with negative life experiences. Furthermore, if a person is having emotional and/or mental issues, it is advisable that he/ she proceed slowly with many of the krias (movements) and pranayama breathing techniques as well as learn these practices from a trained professional. In some cases it is not advisable for a person to begin a practice of Kundalini Yoga without the consent of a physician. The health benefits of practicing Kundalini Yoga are numerous. I have been practicing and teaching Kundalini techniques for several years and can attest to the positive effects. Among the physical and mental health benefits are improvement in; circulation, digestion, nerve function, breathing, flexibility, stamina, muscle tone, mental acuity and concentration, reduced stress level, improved sleeping patterns, etc. The emotional and spiritual benefits are equally impressive with a healing, positive overall sense of well-being and connection to Source. If a person is in relatively good physical and mental health then the practice of Kundalini Yoga is a joyful, cathartic and enlightening experience that can promote vitality and well-being throughout one’s life.

Natural Remedies for Fall Allergies By Luella May

A

lthough many people associate allergy season with the onset of spring, fall can also wreak havoc with allergy sufferers. This year, instead of suffering under mounds of tissues or resorting to over-the-counter or even worse yet, prescribed medications or allergy shots, discover the relief that natural remedies can bring.

What is an Allergy?

An allergy occurs when an individual breathes in certain triggers (such as pollen). The body sees this as a foreign invader, much like a bacteria or virus, and sends out its defenses, releasing antibodies to attack these allergens. This leads to the release of chemicals (histamines) which result in a runny nose, sneezing, watering eyes, inflammation and congestion. We generally don’t consider allergies to be as serious an issue as an infection. However, a severe allergy can result in infection. A prolonged or severe allergy can block sinus drainage sites leading to a sinus infection. Congestion can also drain to the chest, causing respiratory infections that can result in asthma or even pneumonia. A primary allergy cause is an impaired immune system due to toxic overload.

Fall Allergy Triggers

During both spring and fall, pollen is a common allergy trigger. Male plants that begin to pollinate during August, often continue this process into the fall season. The biggest offender is ragweed. A great number of people allergic to spring pollen are also allergic to ragweed. Moreover, the wind can carry ragweed pollen for hundreds of miles, so this offender may not necessarily come from your own back yard. Another offender not to be overlooked is mold. Mold spores can easily become airborne, putting us at risk. Mold grows in damp areas, indoors and outdoors. A common place for mold growth is in those leaves that fall from trees during this season. Piles of damp leaves are perfect breeding grounds for mold.

Dust mites are another danger. Although dust mites are mostly present during humid summer months, they can be stirred up and become airborne when the furnace is first used on a cool fall night.

In certain parts of the country, fall allergens can also include goldenrod, curly dock, lamb’s quarters, pigweed, sheep sorrel, and sagebrush. PAGE 18 • NOVEMBER, 2012 • IN LIGHT TIMES

Four Bitter Herbs Help Heal the Liver, Gall Bladder & Other Ailments

C

Oregon Grape Root

ertain bitter herbs are considered liver herbs because they stimulate, cleanse, and protect the liver and gall bladder. While Western palates are not fond of bitter tasting foods, they do stimulate and support digestion. German research shows that bitter tonic herbs stimulate bile and hydrochloric acid production. They stimulate nervous system and immune system function, as well as combat fatigue and exhaustion.

IS A FAVORITE AMONG DERMATOLOGISTS

Dermatologic Therapy noted the healing benefits of Oregon grape root in a 2003 paper describing herbs which are useful in the treatment of skin conditions. While the paper specifically mentioned Oregon grape root for acne, it stated that the herb has “anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and bile-stimulating properties.”

Four commonly used bitter herbs which are used traditionally and in the medical community to support the liver, gall bladder, and other ailments are milk thistle, dandelion, Oregon grape root, and gentian root, from which gentian violet is manufactured.

Milk Thistle PROTECTS LIVER CELLS

Milk thistle protects liver cells by coating them with phytochemicals. These chemicals heal damaged liver cells and protect healthy cells from becoming damaged. The medical journal Phytochemical Research states that milk thistle, or Silybum marianum, is the most well-researched herb for the treatment of liver disease. The seeds and fruit in milk thistle contain the most silymarin, an antioxidant, anti-fibrotic, and toxin blocker. In animal testing, milk thistle was able to reduce liver damage caused by acetaminophen, radiation, carbon tetrachloride, and other environmental toxins. Milk thistle has been demonstrated clinically to treat liver damage from alcohol, hepatitis, and other liver disease.

Dandelion

STIMULATES DIGESTION AND BILE ACTION Dandelion root and leaf is a classic bitter liver tonic herb. Along with Oregon grape root bark, gentian root,

Gentian Root

SUPPORTS LIVER FUNCTION AS WELL AS BEING A FUNGICIDE and wormwood leaves, dandelion stimulates digestion, stimulates the liver to produce more bile. This action cleanses the liver and gall bladder.

The International Journal of Molecular Science published an in-depth study in 2010 of the effects of dandelion root and leaf on cholesterol-fed rabbits. While one can never assume that an animal study will benefit humans, plenty of empirical evidence supports the idea that dandelion is beneficial for humans. This study points out that dandelion has been shown to possess the ability to reduce cholesterol, rheumatism, oxidative stress which contributes to atherosclerosis, and acts as a diuretic. This was a cross-matched study involving rabbits who were fed a normal diet, a high-cholesterol diet, a high cholesterol diet with dandelion leaves, and a high cholesterol diet with dandelion root.

The results showed that both dandelion root and leaves were able to positively change both the antioxidant activities and lipid profile in the rabbits. The conclusion was that dandelion could be used to help prevent liver and heart disease.

Gentian root extract is a fungicide, an immune booster, and possesses anti-inflammatory properties. Its bitter principles stimulate the secretion of both gastric juices and bile. In an uncontrolled clinical study, a gentian root tincture in an alcohol base increased and prolonged gall bladder emptying. It also helped to enhance protein and fat digestion.

These four bitter herbs are particularly beneficial for people who have been exposed to environmental toxins, are in the habit of consuming alcohol, eat a large amount of meat, have high cholesterol levels or a “fatty liver.”

Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenations

W

e are all getting older, but we don’t have to look that way. As we age, our face loses its fullness. Smile lines, frown lines and crows feet appear more pronounced. Cheeks lose volume and jaw lines are not firm & defined. These effects can be managed by using various non-surgical injectable treatments.

BotoxTM – Many people have the misperception that Botox is a facial filler which is not true. Botox is the brand name of a toxin produced by bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Small, diluted amounts are directly injected into specific facial muscles. By blocking the signals that would normally tell your muscles to contract, it paralyzes facial muscles so they stop moving. This temporarily diminishes and in many cases eliminates lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between eyebrows and upper facial areas. Botox is an excellent way to dial back time. It will slowly begin to wear off after 3-4 months. Although after using regularly, many patients are able to maintain results for a longer period of time. You may choose to use injectable fillers separately or in conjunction with Botox. Here are some things to know about the most popular cosmetic fillers.

Radiesse is comprised of micro-spheres of calcium hydroxlaptite, combined with an aqueous gel. It has a cream-like texture which produces a soft, natural-looking appearance and longlasting effects with occasional touch ups. Uses include reducing lines between the nose and mouth, the upper lip, smile and frownlines. Radiesse restores the natural youthful contours of cheeks and sunken facial areas. Restylane adds volume and fullness to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). It uses a

stabilized hyaluronic acid, specifically formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid. Juvederm Ultra XC is a safe, natural cosmetic filler which restores volume and fullness to correct facial wrinkles and is the most popular filler for the enhancement of lips. Holistic Bio-Identical Filler is the ultimate in natural cosmetic facial enhancement. The results are noticed immediately after treatment and gradually improves over three months. Platelet Rich Plasma has been around for over 30 years for numerous orthopedic uses and has been clinically proven to restore and repair bone and soft tissue. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all mammals that helps hydrate and add volume to the skin. With all three of these major components in the Bio-identical filler, there is no question that it will work. Stem cells, Rich Plasma, Poor Plasma, Growth factors, Hyaluronic Acid are all produced in our body. The growth factors activate the grafted cells as well as local cells to generate new facial tissue that produces a more youthful appearance by improving the quality of both the surface skin and deeper facial tissues. Bio-identical filler process. Bio-identical filler is a process whereby a patient’s blood is drawn and centrifuged to extract the free floating cells (made in bone marrow) and the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). This is combined with a natural proprietary blend and processed in our on-premises laboratory to create the bio-identical filler gel which, like Juvederm, Restylane or Radiesse, can be used as an injectable dermal filler to cosmetically fill fine lines, hollow areas and wrinkles in a patient’s face. We inject our bio-identical filler in the areas to be treated. This autologous holistic filler can encourage the regenerative properties of the skin and dermal layers. Many patients experience an increased volume of soft tissues on the face, hands and neck. This technique increases the production of collagen and rejuvenates the skin. Sessions are two to three hours long, and must be performed by an experienced and specially trained anti-aging MD. To achieve optimum results, it is recommended to take Arnica, Vitamin C and anti-oxidant Telomere two weeks prior to and following the procedure. Side effects can include headache, minimal inflammation, bruising and redness.

Crispy, Crunchy, Chewy, and Healthy An Alternative to Potato Chips

I don’t know about you, but I don’t run into a lot of people who dislike potato chips. And what’s not to like? Potato chips satisfy our primal desire for foods that are rich in calories. Salt, oil, and sugar (refined carbs) are what we instinctively crave to ensure survival during times of famine, and potato chips deliver big time on all three counts. Since you’re reading this, you likely know a few good reasons why it’s best to avoid regular intake of potato chips. Today’s recipe offers a crispy, crunchy, chewy, and most importantly, healthy alternative to chips. CRISPY, CRUNCHY, CHEWY, AND HEALTHY Rich in healthy protein, folate, manganese, and fiber, few natural foods pack the nutrient density that chickpeas do. When prepared in the way we’re about to show you, they’re tastier than potato chips. Well, maybe not to everyone, but we can state with confidence that crisped chickpeas make for a delightfully healthy snack, one that won’t contribute to a multitude of degenerative diseases. To start, soak dried chickpeas in water overnight. Give them a good rinse in the morning, then bring to a boil in fresh water and simmer for an hour, or until chickpeas are thoroughly cooked; they should be soft and tender to bite. Next, let cooked chickpeas drain in a colander for a few minutes to dry out a bit, then spread a layer of them along the bottom of a baking pan. To create the crispy crunch that this recipe is all about, don’t lay down so many that they’re crowding each other out; just a single layer is best, with a little breathing room here and there. Drizzle your best extra-virgin olive oil on the cooked chickpeas, and season with your favorite blend of flavors (we typically add a bit of sea salt and onion powder). Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes, or until slightly browned. When you take your finished chickpeas out of the oven, let them rest for a good 20 minutes or so to fully crisp up, just as you would with roasted almonds. And voila, you have a batch of seasoned and crisped chickpeas to satisfy your potato chip munchies. You’ll find that some are mainly crispy, while others are mostly chewy. Preparing chickpeas in this way creates contrasting textures, the key to any memorable snack. Hope you have a chance to enjoy, and should you discover any twists to this recipe that cause involuntary expressions of happiness, please consider sharing. Healthy Eating Tips Healthy eating is not about strict nutrition philosophies, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, and keeping yourself as healthy as possible; all of which can be achieved by learning some nutrition basics and using them in a way that works for you.

H

ealthy eating begins with learning how to “eat smart”. It’s not just what you eat, but how you eat. Your food choices can reduce your risk of illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, as well as defend against depression. Additionally, learning the habits of healthy eating can boost your energy, sharpen your memory and stabilize your mood. You can expand your range of healthy food choices and learn how to plan ahead to create and maintain a satisfying, healthy diet. Healthy Eating Tip One Set Yourself Up For Success Think about planning a healthy diet as a number of small, manageable steps rather than one big drastic change. If you approach the changes gradually and with commitment, you will have a healthy diet sooner than you think. Simplify — Instead of being overly concerned with counting calories or measuring portion sizes, think of your diet in terms of color, variety and freshness. Focus on finding foods you love and easy recipes that incorporate a few fresh ingredients. Start Slow — Make changes to your eating habits over time. Trying to make your diet healthy overnight isn’t realistic or smart. Changing everything at once usually leads to cheating or giving up on your new eating plan. Make small steps, like adding a salad (full of different color vegetables) to your diet once a day or switching from butter to olive oil when cooking. As your small changes become habit, you can continue to add more healthy choices. Every change you make to improve your diet matters. You don’t have to be perfect and don’t have to completely eliminate foods you enjoy to have a healthy diet. The long term goal is to feel good, have more energy and reduce the risk of cancer and disease. Don’t let your missteps derail you—every healthy food choice you make counts. Think Of Water And Exercise As Food Groups In Your Diet Water helps flush our systems of waste products and toxins. Yet many people go through life dehydrated—causing tiredness, low energy and headaches. It’s common to mistake thirst for hunger, so staying well hydrated will help you make healthier food choices. Exercise. Find something active you like to do and add it to your day, just like you would add healthy greens, blueberries or salmon. The benefits of lifelong exercise are abundant and regular exercise may even motivate you to make healthy food choices a habit. Healthy Eating Tip Two Moderation Is Key People often think of healthy eating as an all or

PAGE 22 • NOVEMBER, 2012 • IN LIGHT TIMES

nothing proposition; but a key foundation for any healthy diet is moderation. Despite what certain fad diets would have you believe, we all need a balance of carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins, and minerals to sustain a healthy body. Try not to think of certain foods as “off-limits.” When you ban certain foods or food groups, it is natural to want those foods more, and then feel like a failure if you give into temptation. If drawn towards sweet, salty, or unhealthy foods, start by reducing portion sizes and not eating them as often. Later you may find yourself craving them less or thinking of them as only occasional indulgences. Think smaller portions. Serving sizes have ballooned recently, particularly in restaurants. When dining out, choose a starter instead of an entrée, split a dish with a friend, and don’t order supersized anything. At home, use smaller plates, think about serving sizes in realistic terms and start small. Visual cues can help with portion sizes—your serving of meat, fish or chicken should be the size of a deck of cards. A teaspoon of oil or salad dressing is about the size of a matchbook and your slice of bread should be the size of a CD case. Healthy Eating Tip Three It’s Not Just What You Eat, It’s How You Eat Healthy eating is about more than the food on your plate—it is also about how you think about food. Healthy eating habits can be learned and it is important to slow down and think about food as nourishment rather than just something to gulp down in between meetings or on the way to pick up the kids. Eat with others whenever possible. Eating with other people has numerous social and emotional benefits—particularly for children—and allows you to model healthy eating habits. Eating in front of the TV or computer often leads to mindless overeating. Take time to chew your food and enjoy mealtimes. Chew food slowly, savoring every bite. We tend to rush though our meals, forgetting to actually taste the flavors and feel the textures of what is in our mouths. Reconnect with the joy of eating. Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry, or have a glass of water to see if you are thirsty instead of hungry. During a meal, stop eating before you feel full. It actually takes a few minutes for your brain to tell your body that it has had enough food, so eat slowly. Eat breakfast, and eat smaller meals throughout the day. A healthy breakfast can jumpstart your metabolism, and eating small, healthy meals throughout the day (rather than the standard three large meals) keeps your energy up and your metabolism going. Healthy Eating Tip Four Fill Up On Colorful Fruits And Vegetables Fruits and vegetables are the foundation of

a healthy diet. Low in calories and nutrient dense, they are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber.
Fruits and vegetables should be part of every meal and your first choice for a snack—aim for a minimum of five portions each day. The antioxidants and other nutrients in fruits and vegetables help protect against certain types of cancer and other diseases. Eat A Rainbow Of Fruits And Vegetables Every Day—The Brighter The Better The brighter, deeper colored fruits and vegetables contain higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants—and different colors provide different benefits. Some great choices are: Greens: Greens are packed with calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc, vitamins A, C, E and K, and help strengthen the blood and respiratory systems. Be adventurous with your greens and branch out beyond bright and dark green lettuce—kale, mustard greens, broccoli, Chinese cabbage are just a few of the options. Sweet vegetables: Naturally sweet vegetables add healthy sweetness to meals and reduce cravings for other sweets. Some examples of sweet vegetables are corn, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes or yams, winter squash, and onions. Fruit: A wide variety of fruit is also vital to a healthy diet. Fruit provides fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. Berries are cancer-fighting, apples provide fiber, oranges and mangos offer vitamin C, and so on. Don’t forget to shop fresh and local whenever possible The local farmer’s market, fruit stand or Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group are great ways to get access to fresh, local produce. Healthy Eating Tip Five Eat More Healthy Carbs And Whole Grains Choose healthy carbohydrates and fiber sources, especially whole grains, for long lasting energy. In addition, whole grains are rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants; which help protect against coronary heart disease, certain cancers, and diabetes. Studies have shown people who eat more whole grains tend to have a healthier heart. A Quick Definition Of Healthy Carbs And Unhealthy Carbs Healthy carbs (sometimes known as good carbs) include whole grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables. Healthy carbs are digested slowly, helping you feel full longer and keeping blood sugar and insulin levels stable. Unhealthy carbs (or bad carbs) are foods such as white flour, refined sugar and white rice that have been stripped of all bran, fiber and nutrients. Unhealthy carbs digest quickly and cause spikes in blood sugar levels and energy.

Food For Thought Take time to listen to others points of view without jumping in before they finish. If they are saying something you do not agree with, or that makes you angry, listen, but focus your energy on their Divinity, which glows above their head. Remember that no matter what a person is saying, they are still based in love. No one has all the facts, or all the wisdom. We share it in a great pool of consciousness. So when someone is speaking allow their diversity to flow into your stream of consciousness. Test it for truth and then when they finish, please, with love speak your truth. We live in a very polarized time, we must remember we are all Divine and the expression of passion if not driven by soul, is nearly always based in fear. We will move through the stages of consciousness as our group consciousness has designed. Yes, together we have designed this time and all the polarization that is activating. But it is a step to the next level. So remember, it is our diversity, like the two legs we each have, that helps us balance as we climb the stairs.

Tips

Healthy Eating Tips Tips For Eating More Healthy Carbs Include a variety of whole grains in your healthy diet, including whole wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, and barley. Experiment with different grains to find your favorites. Make sure you’re really getting whole grains. Be aware, that words stoneground, multi-grain, 100% wheat, or bran, can be deceptive. Look for the words “whole grain” or “100% whole wheat” at the beginning of the ingredient list. In the US, check for the Whole Grain Stamps that distinguish between partial whole grain and 100% whole grain. Try mixing grains as a first step to switching to whole grains. If whole grains, like brown rice and whole wheat pasta, don’t sound good at first, start by mixing what you normally use with the whole grains. You can gradually increase the whole grain to 100%. Avoid: Refined foods such as breads, pastas, and breakfast cereals that are not whole grain. Healthy Eating Tip Six Enjoy Healthy Fats & Avoid Unhealthy Fats Good sources of healthy fat are needed to nourish your brain, heart and cells, as well as hair, skin, and nails. Foods rich in certain omega-3 fats called EPA and DHA are particularly important and can reduce cardiovascular disease, improve mood and help prevent dementia. Add to your healthy diet: Monounsaturated fats, from plant oils like canola oil, peanut oil, and olive oil, as well as avocados, nuts (like almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans), and seeds (such as pumpkin, sesame). Polyunsaturated fats, including Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, found in fatty fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, and some cold water fish oil supplements. Other sources of polyunsaturated fats are unheated sunflower, corn, soybean, and flaxseed oils, and walnuts. Reduce or eliminate from diet: Saturated fats, found primarily in animal sources including red meat and whole milk dairy products. Trans fats, found in vegetable shortenings, some margarines, crackers, candies, cookies, snack foods, fried foods, baked goods, and other processed foods made with partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Healthy Eating Tip Seven Put Protein In Perspective Protein gives us the energy to get up

and go—and keep going. Protein in food is broken down into 20 amino acids; the body’s basic building blocks for growth and energy—essential for maintaining cells, tissues, and organs. Lack of protein can slow growth, reduce muscle mass, lower immunity, and weaken the heart and respiratory system. Protein is particularly important for children, whose bodies are growing and changing daily. Some guidelines for including protein in your healthy diet: Try different types of protein. Whether or not you are a vegetarian, trying different protein sources—such as beans, nuts, seeds, peas, tofu and soy products—will open up new options for healthy mealtimes. Beans: Black beans, navy beans, garbanzos, and lentils are good options. Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, pistachios, and pecans are great choices. Soy products: Tofu, soy milk, tempeh, and veggie burgers for a change. Avoid salted or sugary nuts and refried beans. Downsize portions of protein. Most people in the U.S. eat too much protein. Try to move away from protein being the center of your meal. Focus on equal servings of protein, whole grains, and vegetables. Focus on quality protein sources, like fresh fish, chicken, turkey, tofu, eggs, beans or nuts. When having meat, chicken, or turkey, buy meat free of hormones and antibiotics. Healthy Eating Tip Eight Add Calcium For Strong Bones Calcium is one of the key nutrients your body needs in order to stay strong and healthy. It is an essential building block for lifelong bone health in both men and women, among many other important functions. You and your bones will benefit from eating plenty of calcium-rich foods, limiting foods that deplete your body’s calcium stores, and getting your daily dose of magnesium and vitamins D and K—nutrients that help calcium do its job. Recommended calcium levels are 1000mg per day, 1200mg if you are over 50 years old. Take vitamin D and calcium supplement if you don’t get enough of these nutrients from your diet. Good sources of calcium include: Dairy: Dairy products are rich in calcium in a form that is easily digested and absorbed by the body. Sources include milk, yogurt, and cheese. Vegetables and greens: Many vegetables,

PAGE 24 • NOVEMBER, 2012 • IN LIGHT TIMES

especially leafy green ones, are rich sources of calcium. Try turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, kale, romaine lettuce, celery, broccoli, fennel, cabbage, summer squash, green beans, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, and crimini mushrooms. Beans: For another rich source of calcium, try black beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, white beans, black-eyed peas, or baked beans.

Opt for fresh or frozen vegetables instead of canned vegetables. Cut back on salty snacks such as potato chips, nuts, and pretzels. Choose low-salt or reduced-sodium products. Try slowly reducing the salt in your diet to give your taste buds time to adjust.

Healthy Eating Tip Nine Limit Sugar And Salt If you succeed in planning your diet around fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and good fats, you may find yourself naturally cutting back on foods that can get in the way of your healthy diet—sugar and salt.

Healthy Eating Tip Ten Plan Quick And Easy Meals Ahead Healthy eating starts with great planning. You will have won half the healthy diet battle if you have a well-stocked kitchen, a stash of quick and easy recipes, and plenty of healthy snacks.

Sugar — Sugar causes energy ups and downs and can add to health and weight problems. Unfortunately, reducing the amount of candy, cakes, and desserts we eat is only part of the solution. Often you may not even be aware of the amount of sugar you’re consuming each day. Large amounts of added sugar can be hidden in foods such as bread, canned soups and vegetables, pasta sauce, margarine, instant mashed potatoes, frozen dinners, fast food, soy sauce, and ketchup. Here are some tips:

Plan meals by the week or month Prepare your own food and eat regularly. Pick a few healthy recipes you and your family like and build a meal schedule around them. If you have three or four meals planned per week and eat leftovers on the other nights, you will be much farther ahead than if you are eating out or having frozen dinners most nights.

Avoid sugary drinks. One 12-oz soda has about 10 teaspoons of sugar in it, more than the daily recommended limit! Try sparkling water with lemon or a splash of fruit juice. Eat naturally sweet food such as fruit, peppers, or natural peanut butter to satisfy your sweet tooth. How sugar is hidden on food labels Check food labels carefully. Sugar is often disguised using terms such as: Cane sugar or maple syrup, corn sweetener or corn syrup, honey or molasses, brown rise syrup, crystallized or evaporated cane juice, fruit juice concentrates such as apple or pear, maltodextrin (or dextrin), dextrose, fructose, glucose, maltose or sucrose. Salt — Most of us consume too much salt in our diets. Eating too much salt can cause high blood pressure and lead to other health problems. Try to limit sodium intake to 1,500 to 2,300 mg per day, the equivalent of one teaspoon of salt. Avoid processed or pre-packaged foods. Processed foods like canned soups or frozen dinners contain hidden sodium that quickly surpasses the recommended limit. Be careful when eating out. Most restaurant and fast food meals are loaded with sodium.

Shop the perimeter of the grocery store In general, healthy eating ingredients are found around the outer edges of most grocery stores—fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and poultry, whole grain breads and dairy products. You can add a few things from the freezer section (frozen fruits and vegetables), and the aisles with spices, oils, brown rice, rolled oats etc. The centers of many grocery stores are filled with overpriced, processed foods that aren’t good for you. Cook when you can Try to cook one or both weekend days or on a weekday evening and make extra to freeze or set aside for another night. Cooking ahead saves time and money, and is gratifying to know you have a home cooked meal waiting to be eaten. Challenge yourself to come up with two or three dinners that can be put together without going to the store—utilizing things in your pantry, freezer, and spice rack. A delicious dinner of whole grain pasta with a quick tomato sauce or a quick and easy black bean quesadilla on a whole wheat flour tortilla could act as your go-to meal when too busy to shop or cook. a Thanksgiving Prayer By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway

Dear God, Goddess, Divine Spirit of all there is. Thank you for the opportunity to gather together in one another’s company. We thank you for the light you bring to this family gathering. Please grant us the vision to see the highest in one another, and grant us the opportunity to continue to be there for each other in good times as well as not-so-great-times. Give us strength and fortitude to ride the tides of change and empower us always to be nurturing and loving with one another. Open our spiritual eyes that we may see one another for who we truly are…and love one other in the same spirit. May sadness, disappointment and anger be minimal. May happiness, positive thoughts and good experiences together be bountiful. May we always cope and hope, with each other…with grace.

Clarice’s Mystical Realm Astrology Personal message from Mystic Clarice Barrett, Msc. D. Hello Stargazer’s. The vibration this month is on Mercury and two Solar Eclipses, One Sun Eclipse, and the other a Lunar Eclipse. To understand retrograde Mercury periods, one should understand what Mercury governs. In ourselves, Mercury rules the mind, how one communicates and how well. The style in which one does so, is with one’s memory, and one’s intelligence. On the mundane level, it governs our collective consciousness or lack thereof, telephones, the internet, texting, computers, travel and electronics, can be adversely affected. Mercury will be in the sign of Sagittarius, “an outspoken sign”. Please think before speaking, stay positive!

Important, read Sun, Rising & Moon signs to have a full picture. LUNAR ACTIVITY: Full Moon: Nov. 28th (Lunar Moon Eclipse in Gemini); New Moon: Nov.13th (Sun Solar Eclipse in Scorpio); Last Quarter Moon: Nov. 6th in Leo; First Quarter Moon: Nov. 20th in Pisces. Mercury stations Retro in Sagittarius 11/6/12; stations Dir. 11-26-12. Key Effect: Mixed communications, transportation and world trade. The Sun Signs: Gemini and Virgo’s Ruling Planet is, “Mercury” and the Number (5) in Numerology. If either of these signs is located in your natal chart, expect indecision, change of plans and it requires more caution and orderly thinking. Mercury is also known as the original, “trickster“. While Mercury is Retrograde, it is not the best time for major purchases such as new homes, autos, boats, computers, etc., (why) because these items are usually financed and/or require signing a contract. Signing a contract during Mercury Retrograde can bring regrets stemming from things said that are misunderstood or misrepresented. Avoid beginning new projects; expect disruptions, delays in business matters, especially communications or transportation. Back up all data on computers. Companies in retail can expect sales on the slow side, including personal items stolen. Relationships can go awry due to miscommunications. Also, lies and deceptions can come to light. Note: When negative thoughts or emotions come up, try to just recognize them, not act on them. You don’t need to indulge every bad feeling by letting it spiral out of control. Simply acknowledge them and let them go. Maybe even try to find some humor in them. Eclipses sometimes can make big heavy iron gates swing open, even ones that have never opened for you before. Be optimistic! What do you wish for, dear reader? If you work hard towards your goals, an eclipse can help make it all happen! Be optimistic! For The effects of Retrograde planets and Eclipses, go to www.TheMysticalRealm.com for detailed info & Mystic Clarice’s featured articles.

Happy Birthday Scorpio! October 23rd to November 21st “I DESIRE”

Ruling Planet: Pluto ~ Rules: Sex Organs Symbol: Scorpion/Eagle ~ Element: Water ~ Energy: Feminine Lesson: Learning tolerance & controlling emotions Colors: Deep Red, Black, & Purple ~ Gem Stones: Yellow Topaz & Garnet Spiritual Flower: Chrysanthemum Key Personality: Concentration, Determination & Courage Most Compatible Signs: Pisces & Cancer depending on Rising & Moon signs

Prior to the discovery of the ninth planet, Scorpio was ruled by Mars, which is still considered co-ruler. The sign of cosmic purpose, Scorpio, is considered to be the success sign. Self-contained and self-centered, concentrated Scorpios usually succeed in whatever they set out to accomplish. They are willful, proud and calm with electrifying undercurrent of seething intensity. Purposeful and animated with force, they project a magnetic personality. Scorpio does nothing in half measures, it’s all or nothing attitude. They are demanding, controlling, possessive, and forceful. Their tenacity and will power are enviable; their depth of character and passionate conviction admirable, but it is their deep sensitivity that makes them the best of friends. This same quality makes them; however, the most treacherous of enemies too! Scorpios have very complicated personalities. They are clever, non-compromising, calculating, and self-protective. The quest for power and money is very strong in them. They would do anything to accomplish their goals or agenda. In a relationship, they can be dangerously jealous; they are also passionate and caring. They can be motivated, resourceful, investigative, intuitive, penetrating and aware. They can also be violent, jealous, resentful, distrusting, secretive, intolerant, temperamental and “revengeful.” Scorpios must be careful to watch their anger. If it should overpower them, it could lead them down the path to destruction. There are three types of Scorpios, 1. the Eagle, 2. the Dove, and 3. the Scorpion, which represents, high principles, the middle man, and the sinner, who stings everyone, including themselves. Scorpios are infamous for holding their emotions within. Thus, they appear calm and stable, but could really be ready to burst at any moment. This trait can often lead to extreme emotional actions and impulsiveness when things don’t go their way, which is categorized as a negative trait.

LIBRA ~ Sept. 23 to Oct. 22

Look and keep your eyes open to new opportunities for learning something new. Positive Tip: In essence, look for your world to open…knowledge is power. It may be at work in a different department, or outside your normal realm. Mind Focus: Expand your knowledge for your future growth.

You might feel like you’re coming unglued in a lot of ways this month, but it probably isn’t as bad as you think. Positive Tip: Come to think of it, you should probably be feeling relatively good and light lately. Mind Focus: Now that Saturn has left your sign, after twelve years, you made it. Celebrate!

TAURUS • Apr. 20 to May 20

SCORPIO ~ Oct. 23 to Nov. 21

GEMINI • May 21 to June 20

SAGITTARIUS ~ Nov. 22 to Dec. 21

Maybe it’s time to give someone or something a bit of a shove, you’re thinking. Just a little one, you know? Positive Tip: Just a friendly little reminder that they share a piece of turf with you, that’s all. Mind Focus: Do you feel a bull metaphor coming on here? You got it. No shoving. Keep your horns down.

You know you’ve got some good ideas, so why not make them coagulate into something? Both your home and work life are going to be crying out for change! Positive Tip: Don’t ignore this opportunity, move forward. Mind Focus: Work through the frustrations this month and make them happen.

Be careful not to drag too much of anyone else’s baggage into your home or work life. Positive Tip: Your general increase in social magnetism could present itself. Mind Focus: Be sure to use wisdom and ask questions before making commitments to help others.

It’s hard to maintain that air of easygoing confidence in life that people usually see in you when you’re just a blur and that could be you this month. Positive Tip: There are places to go, people to be seen, money and business connections to be made. Mind Focus: Your career is up for re-organization.

CANCER ~ June 21 to July 22

CAPRICORN ~ Dec. 22 to Jan. 19

LEO ~ July 23 to Aug. 22

AQUARIUS ~ Jan. 20 to Feb. 18

There’s nothing wrong with a little material comfort and a little attention. Positive Tip: With a few smart choices on your part more of both should come your way. Mind Focus: The problem; how to keep that positive, emotional momentum going. So, meditate, pray, light a candle. It’ll help more than you know.

We’ve all been told we should try to detach ourselves from expectations and let life happen Positive Tip: Well, that’s true but it’s also kind of frustrating…especially when the money and the means aren’t up to your goals. Mind Focus: When little details go astray, you’ll be able to sweep them back together.

VIRGO ~ Aug. 23 to Sept 22

PISCES ~ Feb. 19 to March 20

The energy this month is great for your job and career success. Positive Tip: Look for opportunities and promotions, and even an opportunity for advancement in your security. Mind Focus: Don’t be afraid to accept the kindness of strangers on occasion… specifically if they can bring material advancement.

As you made your way through your life, you probably noticed that there are some things and some people you can’t change. Positive Tip: In many ways, this could be the month you find out that you can’t really change anyone…other than yourself. Mind Focus: This type of thinking is annoying, but right.

PAGE 28 • NOVEMBER, 2012 • IN LIGHT TIMES

Stop…no really, wait a minute. What was the meaning of life again? Whatever your answer was to that a couple of years ago, it’s probably shifted a bit. Positive Tip: Ask yourself that question again. Mind Focus: Then you can get back to work... you weren’t THAT far off after all. Stay positive!

This eclipse will be great for your career. Watch for advances, new jobs and more income to arrive. Positive Tip: This can also be an exciting time for achieving. Mind Focus: This is a successful period of your fondest hopes and dreams. You may also find yourself looking back to move forward.

Clarice’s Life Path Numerology A personal message from Mystic Clarice Barrett, Msc. D. November is the number 11 = 2. The two vibration represents a sensitivity and does not like conflict in general. It can also denote a dual personality, like the terrible two’s. This month, because of Mercury Retrograde (MR), the negative side of the two can be more emotional than normal. The number 2 and 5 are the numbers affected this month. Remember, Mercury rules the number 5. That bad boy planet Mercury goes retrograde again in Sagittarius Nov. 6th to Nov. 26th. The purpose of this post is to help you understand the effects on your personality under this, often strange and frustrating cycle using numerology based on your Life Path number. As long as you are aware of the effects of MR and what to do and not do during this phase, you can lessen the effects and breeze through this period with as little collateral damage as possible.

What Is Your Life Path Number?

The Birth Path number describes the nature of this journey through your life. This month we will be covering the number 11 = 2. Remember that the number 5 is for Mercury. In Astrology, Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo. In numerology it rules number 5. The number two is ruled by the Moon and Cancer, so this month the emotions may be more frustrating and intense. Expect some sudden changes of direction due to the Sun and Moon Eclipses along with Mecury Retrograde.

The Life Path is the sum of the birth date of an individual, and remains throughout your life. This number represents who you are at birth and the native traits that you carry with you through life; no individual has the same fingerprints, so, by adding your numerology number to your astrology sign makes you a totally unique individual. In numerology you have three primary numbers, your Life Path, Day and Attitude numbers. As you figure out your numbers, read all three to get a complete picture

1

Life Path – Sun Rules Self-determinism, Leadership, Exploration, Independence

2

Life Path – Moon Rules Cooperation, Teamwork, Diplomacy, Intuition

To find this number add all the numbers in your birth date. First, convert the month to a single number, and then add this individual digit, to the birthday, and the individual digit of the birth year. The individual digits are again added together, as necessary to reduce the total sum to a single digit 1 through 9. In this column I am not covering your personal year number, only for each month how your basic birth number is affected. If you are interested in the year number 1 through 9. You would add your month and day together to a single digit, and then add it to the existing year, to know the year number you are in.

How To Find Your Life Path Number

The ones are the bossy numbers in numerology. During MR, this is not the time to be too self-centered. Try not to be stubborn, selfish or too headstrong for the next three weeks. Ones want their own way when they want it, so you will need to find ways to show your leadership skills in a constructive positive way.

Twos are normally the sensitive souls of the numerology universe — perceptive and intuitive. During this three week MR cycle, try not to be too sensitive because you could find yourself wearing your heart on your sleeve to your detriment. Try to repress this natural instinct, and stop being so hard on yourself.

3

For your convenience I’ve listed the basic meaning to the numbers below; this will also help you know what numbers you are compatible with.

Life Path – Jupiter Rules Socializing, Optimism, Inspiration, Artistic

The threes are the expressive communicators of the universe; they have a tendency to complain a lot and are not very tolerant in certain situations. During MR, your best bet is to honor your self-expression, while staying positive. Watch those sarcastic remarks which you are prone to when you become moody.

4

Example: Date of Birth: February 8, 1939 (2-8-1939). Add the month (2) to the day (8) plus the total of the digits in the year, (2-8-22 = 32 = 5.) The Life Path number is 5. To get the attitude number you add the month to the day to a single digit. This person’s numbers are: Life Path 5, Day 8, and Attitude number is 1.

Life Path – Uranus Rules Systematic, Workaholic, Reliable, Responsible

During MR it is a good time to understand that not everyone works as hard as you with such tenacity…or is as disciplined. Please try to be less rigid and a little more flexible. Your hard work and traditional values will still pay off — but only if you respect and are open to other perspectives.

The Basic Numbers and their Meaning

1-5-7 Are the mental numbers, they ask the big questions in life.

2-4-8 Are the financial numbers, they are concerned with security issues. 3-6-9 Are the communication/creative numbers. 3-4-7-9 Are the Spiritual numbers, the numbers 4 & 7 are the genus numbers, and covers all talents.

If fives are going to survive MR, it’s a good time to rein it in just a tad and try staying put – just for a little bit. A little respite won’t harm you at all and could put your relationships or partnerships in a more favorable light. Change and freedom is a constant for the fives; however, the challenge is to learn to settle this month.

Life Path – Venus Rules Trustworthy, Paternal or Maternal, Teacher, Healer

Sixes of the numerology universe are possessed with both great compassion and love; they live to be of service. However, during MR it’s a good time to find more balance and learn to give to yourself first. Your temptation is that you take on the burdens of others, but you must learn to feed your soul first.

7

Life Path – Neptune Rules Analytical, Questioning, Spiritual, Intuitive

8

Life Path – Saturn Rules Enterprising, Realistic, Authoritative, Efficient

9

Life Path – Mars Rules Humanitarian, Idealistic, Visionary, Dramatic

The sevens are endowed with spirituality and enlightenment; you have a lot to teach those in this arena. But what you need to work on during MR is not being down in the dumps, becoming discouraged and or becoming a hermit – you know who you are. Stay focused.

Eights are those who are responsible, have strength and willpower and put so much effort into all they do. But these strengths could be used against you during MR if something or someone can get inside your head and turn you around and confuse you. This is when you lose your strength and power.

The nines are humanitarians at heart. They like to help those who are in need and are deeply concerned about the world at large. Being helpful and generous are the virtues of the nine. You must guard against being discontent during MR or you will not be able to live up to the standards of the number nine.
