INK DESIGN HUB WE INK WHAT WE THINK IDH is a multidisciplinary architecture and interior design house with a very simple and unique design philosophy.

We specialize in producing innovative region sensitive design work that not only satisfies functional purposes, but also delivers an aesthetic tailored for each project.

Our body of work spans scales & typologies, but focuses on creating meaningful, smart, and sustainable designs; there is always a concept and a reason behind everything we design.

Upon approaching a new project, we take time to thoroughly investigate & brainstorm ideas between all members of our studio’s team; this results in a resilient, multilayered, and wholesome design.

The core agenda and the essence of our work at ink design hub is to find a balance between abundance and scarcity, between order and complexity. Each project, whether architecture, interior, visualization or landscape, is inspired by the same core quality. We are guided by our body and mind rather than by trends or technology. We explore ideas that not only look good or trendy but that feel good.

Situated in Egypt, a country well known for its rich history and amazing feats of engineering, art, and architecture, we respect context and traditions while upholding modernist principles of design. Through investigating what increases human comfort regardless of personal inclinations, our projects strip spaces, objects, thoughts back to their simplest form.Our pride lies in achieving a balance when there’s nothing more to either add or take away.

Abdallah M. Sallam Founder & CEO

Abdallah Sallam is a prominent member of the Sallam Family’s third generation. He is a determined entrepreneur who has founded, co-founded, and managed many companies such as Jebal Media, Urban Station Egypt, Minlo Industries and MINKA Developments.

Sallam holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from AUC along with some executive programs in Marketing and Business Strategy at Harvard Business School and Kellogg Business School of Northeastern University.

Bassant Essam

CO-founder | Managing Director Head Designer An architectural Engineer with over 7 years of experience in the design field after graduating with a degree in Architectural Department, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.

Bassant’s passion and main target in the world of design to achieve unique functional spaces in a simpler yet significant ways fused with a critical understanding of raw materials and how they function thanks to her previous experience in the execution industry, which has played a big role in helping her build all her designs and concepts on solid ground.

SCOPE OF WORK Interior Design

STATUS Completed KINDA Apartment’s Themes Three interior design themes were created to match different clients’ tastes; however, all were to be according to a certain design standard that follows the project’s main concept, which is the Canadian livability style.

Those themes are ALL N ASH, BLACK N BRASS, ROYAL N BOLD.

ALL N ASH THEME A minimalist theme combining pure neutral colour palettes (whites, beiges, light grey) in a homogenous way, incorporating mostly natural effects and neutral material finishes, creates a cozy feeling and integrates with nature by adding natural plant pots and dried plants, with contrasting brass accessories and lighting fixtures.

BLACK N BRASS THEME A minimalist monochrome theme using only monochrome colors. (White, Black & Grey) ; however, enriched with Brass represented in accessories, lighting elements, partitions, etc.) to give the whole look a glance of elegance yet in a minimalist overall theme.

ROYAL N BOLD THEME A bold coloured theme yet minimalistic in its design, mainly using the concept colours of royalty (Emerald Green & Black), enriched with brass and dark wood (cladding, partitions, accessories, etc.), yet still using natural materials to feel the coziness of the space.

A livable 1:1 live mockup representing the All-N Ash design theme with all of its upgrades and showing the brilliance in maximising the use of each space, along with using the simplest and most sufficient materials to reflect the Canadian lifestyle according to our Egyptian needs.

A revolutionary architectural, fully finished apartment building in the world of the real estate industry as it’s carefully designed to fulfil different customers’ needs through different apartment types, all within the same apartment building, through a well technically and aesthetically designed philosophy that appears in the building form and material selection, and also through the brilliance of the interior design that appears in the efficiency of using all spaces to the max and achieving all clients’ needs within the smallest areas, and the efficiency also achieved in the selection of the finishing materials and how brilliant it is to fulfil the Canadian-inspired livability wanted by the developer.

A phenomenal triplex design project with a unique and simple identity. Following the Canadian-inspired livability for the whole KINDA project, we’ve succeeded in providing the maximum use of the whole unit space, making it feel much like a standalone house rather than a unit in an apartment building, and also presenting the simple and standard finishes in a new, fresh and modern look.

The ensō : the beauty of imperfection

We chose the ensō as the symbol for the project, When the loop is closed, it represents perfection, while when it opens it symbolizes imperfection, allowing for movement and change.

An Interior design | Landscape scope of work was assigned by MNHD with the objective of introducing the idea of the full finished model through simple and carefully local chosen materials and suppliers with an interior design concept to use the bare essentials to create a simple and uncluttered space. An open plan layout to create a sense of freedom and relaxation. There is no excessive ornamentation or decoration. Instead, the design follows a functional and sustainable selection of regional materials.

And with the “EMBRACE” landscape design concept, to feel more connected with nature and greenery in every zone, to create a sense of coziness and relaxation.

A full scope design project (Architecture | Interior | Landscape) where Minimalism | Aesthetic | Green Environment | Luxury are important keywords for our design on all its levels, as “Minimalism” is achieved by the usage of plain, monochromatic materials inspired by nature. “Aesthetic” is determined by how plain design elements are put together to produce a new harmonic pattern.

A key factor that directed the entire design process was the need to have a flexible, cost-efficient, and smart design that would allow the client to have the freedom to relocate and reuse his furnished office space without inconvenience or waste of resources.
