Spanning seven centuries and four continents, this year’s selection of papers examine change and its consequences across disciplines, and several consider issues of equity and bias. With topics ranging from the role of wilderness in medieval literature, to the ramifications of new public transportation policies, to the reinterpretation of long-standing monuments and artworks, the critiques and research presented in this edition foreground change as a constant yet evolving force in artistic practice, urban design, and architecture. In a time of such uncertainty, we hope that this issue offers a small measure of insight into transformation as an enduring aspect of the human condition and encourages readers to question established ways of thinking about art and, by extension, the world around us.
