Why you need to celebrate “Tamil Nadu Day”? After Independence, Tamil Nadu and few southern regions of Andhra Pradesh together were declared as Madras Presidency in 1950. After a few years, a negotiation had arisen regarding the division of southern states based on boundary lines and languages. A special team of State Reconstruction Act was created fro proper separation of States under the negotiated aspects.

C. RajaGopalachari was the head of the Madras Presidency Legislative Council by that time. Under this Act, On November 1, 1956, the following states, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu were formed. Hence the Madras Presidency had been transformed as Tamil Nadu excluded the Andhra Region. However, November 1 is celebrated as the Government formation day in Neighboring states. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy announced today(November 1) as Tamil Nadu Day and celebrated throughout Tamil Nadu. As an act of honor to the state, Special Caldwell Seating will be prepared at Tamil University at Thanjavur and Construction of a Memorial hall in the name of Actor Thiyagaraja Bhagavadhar will be commenced soon.
