Our Brands

The own brand range has been incredibly successful for Fairway and its members demonstrating clear year-on-year exponential growth. All this without any specific marketing or brand awareness programme.

Our future plans include reviewing the branding, packaging and communicating the brand values and differentiators more successfully through innovative digital initiatives.

Updated Photography

Fairway members have access to over 570 quality own brand frozen, chilled, ambient and non-food products. These are constantly benchmarked against the competition to ensure these exclusive products are as good as or better than the market leader.

Once the review of the branding is complete, the own brand range will be booked in for a photography re-shoot to fit the improved style of the brand and sub brands.

Promotional Activity We schedule Own Brand promotions around key events in the year and promote our ‘Core Range’ products at least once a year (most are promoted two or three times). Fairway fund promotion activity on selected commodity lines to make pricing highly competitive. Going forward, we will be focusing on marketing Own Brand promotions through various media platforms.

Tackling Environmental Plastic Waste We are fully committed to a cleaner, healthier environment and recognise the global threat waste plastics are having on marine life. To counter this, we’ve been steadily putting pressure on branded manufactures to change to recyclable packaging whilst running a replacement programme for single use plastics on our own brand. We’re delighted to announce that we will have fully eliminated the use of black plastic from our own brand range by January 2019.

Fairway Foodservice Members will rotate every 15 minutes and meet 24 different suppliers to sample and discuss the merits of the Fairway own brand range. The 24 suppliers will also have competitor samples present to ensure that Fairway own brand is as good as, if not better than the our competition and the brand leader.

Event Key Points

Product Deliveries

Access is available from 7.00am and the meeting will commence at 9.30am and conclude at 16.45pm.

For suppliers wishing to send in samples via a courier, please state on the packaging your company name, handling instructions and that they are for the Fairway Foodservice event, Continental Suite, Tuesday 6th November. Please send to the following address:

All 24 suppliers will be in one large area and will have two 6x4 foot tables for their presentations which will consist of 12 member groups split up with 8/9 delegates in each. Each meeting will last 15 minutes and after this time a whistle will sound indicating time up so member delegates will need to move on to their next presentation. After each presentation a supplier takes part in they will then have a 15 minute break which will allow them time to prepare for the next presentation. Fairway have advised suppliers that they introduce themselves and their company very briefly - no more than one minute. The main focus should be introducing the range of products and then 3 or 4 products you have agreed to present against competitor samples. Suppliers are expected to highlight the features and benefits, any unique selling points and why the own brand product is as good as, if not better than the rest of the market.

Media Guests Chris Evans, Editor of Wholesale News will be in attendance so we can feature coverage of the event in his publication. Anthony Bullick from Outwrite PR will also be in attendance to cover the event. Also visiting is Cat Wood, from Principles Insight, who is conducting market research on our behalf with end user caterers. Jeff Newton of Infotech Studio will be filming the event for social media and website purposes. If approached, then please spare a few minutes of your time for a quick chat.

Introduction

The Range

Chefs Excellence Super Crunch Fries, produced in Belgium by Clarebout, in the largest European potato processing plant, in a BRC AA grade state of the art production facility capable of producing 1 million metric tonnes of fries per annum. Super Crunch are a “coated” fry, produced from a specific variety of potato (Fontane) and coated in a “rice flour based” coating designed to keep the product crispy for longer so, as the product cools, it retains its crunch and bite. The product is suitable for: VEGETARIAN DIET VEGAN DIET

LACTOSE INTOLERANT COEILIACS ie it is GLUTEN FREE

Some other “coated fries” use a cereal based coating which isn’t suitable for Coeliac. The range consists of cut sizes from 6mm through to 18mm and has “skin on” and skin less variations. The products are competitively priced ie for 3/8” the cost price delivered into depot is 81.2p/kg -Lamb Stealth equivalent is £1.20+/kg- McCain Signature stay Crisp is £1.70+/kg. This is a high quality stay crisp product at a fraction of the cost of the two big brand options — we expect to move into Own Brand in September 2019 having launched in Chefs Excellence – any product having sales of more than 300mT over the next 12 months will move into OL in 2019.
