Education Quality Enhancement Project
This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared in UNDB online on December, 3rd, 2007 and on the African Development Bank Group’s Internet Website. The Government of Lesothohas received Financing from the African Development Bank in various currencies towards the cost of Education Enhancement Project (Education III). It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the Supply and Delivery of Workshop Furniture at Lesotho College of Education in Maseru District.

The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document: Procurement of Goods. Bids shall be valid for a period of ninety (90) days after bid opening. Bids must be delivered to: The Tender Panel Secretary Room 404, Inspectorate Building, Ministry of Education and Training Constitution Road P. O. Box 47 Maseru 100, Lesotho On or before14:30hrs (Lesotho Time) on 10th of November 2015 and must be accompanied by a Bid Security of LSL 25, 000.00, or equivalent to any freely convertible currency.

Government of Lesotho Ministry of Agriculture And Food Security REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST CONSULTANCY FOR TECHNOLOGY PACKAGES FOR SMALLHOLDERS THE GOVERNMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF LESOTHO MINISTRYOF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY SMALLHOLDER AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT PROJECT No. P119432 The Government of Lesotho is implementing the Smallholder Agricultural Development Project (SADP) with financial support from IFAD and the World Bank. The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to ‘increase marketed output among project beneficiaries in Lesotho’s smallholder agriculture sector’. Two major outcomes are expected that would lead to achieving the PDO: (a) Agricultural market opportunities in the program area increased; and (b) Productivity and quality of market-focused crops and livestock from smallholders in the project area increased. The project, which is under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), would consist of three components to be implemented over six years: (a) Increasing Agricultural Market Opportunities; (b) Increasing Market-oriented Smallholder Production; and (c) Project Management. The project area consists of four districts Leribe, Botha-Bothe, Berea and Mafeteng Under sub-component 2.2 (Technology Packages for Smallholders), the project seeks to support the development and dissemination of technology packages that would address identified production constraints for smallholder farmers in the project’s four target districts. To take advantage of specific expertise or approaches that are available among non-state actors but not in the government system, contracts will be provided to locally-based NGOs and private operators for introduction, further development and dissemination of new and innovative technologies coupled with training and support for smallholder farmers. To ensure technology transfer to the public extension service, it will be a requirement that government extension staffs are fully involved through a partnership arrangement that would be specified in the contract. There are three pilot topics for this consultancy and are as follows: TOPIC 1 - Broiler Parent Stock - to resuscitate government owned parent stock or broiler multiplication center for production of fertile eggs for distribution to smallholder farmers. TOPIC 2 – Pig Breeding - to demonstrate applicable and appropriate pig breeding center to produce piglets for distribution to smallholder farmers
TOPIC 3- Shade Netting - to implement protected agriculture technology involving shade house/nets in order to promote commercial production for fruits and vegetable among small-scale farmers. MAFS now invites eligible consultancy firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultancy firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified and experienced to provide the services for which they are expressing their interest (, description of similar assignments, experience in a similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills amongst staff, etc.) Expression of interest should include: • Company profile including name of country where a firm is registered • Experience of project related to the assignment, including brief description of most recent and relevant assignments (location, cost, client and staff involved) A consultancy firm will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and employment of consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 2011.
