While this project appears to be five-star quality, I’ll never know because the staff was practicing business prevention this Sunday. If you’ve lived here long enough you’ll know, that’s «Real Thailand» too. Slightly discouraged, I headed towards Ban Ampur Beach and remembered my promise from Goin’ South I. There are several intriguing older condominium developments in this hidden little fishing hamlet that warrant investigation. On Sunday I looked at three older buildings that could fit neatly into the categories of «The Good, The Bad and The Ugly». The Good: Baan Samprasong is a sprawling lowrise located on the north end of Ban Amphur Beach near the lighthouse restaurant. The complex is comprised of a plethora of different sized condominiums and two story houses. The security is adequate and the grounds immaculately kept. The condo building right on the beach is in a wide «V» shape and every unit gets a spectacular sunset view directly on the best part of this quiet little beach. The corner units would seem to be the most desirable, but for those situated in the middle, the view is a two-for-one affair as you look over the manicured gardens and gorgeous swimming pool leading out onto the golden sand and aqua-marine Gulf of Thailand. With covered balconies big enough to play badminton on, Baan Samprasong residents are sure to spend more time outside than in. The units I saw were spacious and open. The friendly manager showed me a couple that were for sale, but was more proud of the three condos and one house currently under renovation. И снова я отметил практически полное отсутствие жизни. Лишь только одинокий любитель позагорать под зонтиком читает, потягивая мине‑ ралку у бассейна. За 20 минут своей прогулки я так никого и не встретил, кроме пары охранников, вкушающих сомтам в тени деревьев. Я поднялся на лифте на 31 этаж, чтобы увидеть легендарный бассейн, о котором мне кто‑то рассказы‑ вал. По правде говоря, этот бассейн под куполом был бы тем местом, где я проводил бы все свое время, случись мне жить здесь. И я, похоже, имел бы его в полном своем распоряжении, на‑ слаждаясь в одиночестве прекрасным видом. Вернувшись на парковку, я еще раз окинул взглядом это строение. Я уви‑ дел массу квартир с заколоченными окнами или строительным мусором на балконах. Вестибюль совсем пуст, если не считать нескольких пласти‑ ковых стульев у стола администра‑ тора. Я увидел пустые места, остав‑ шиеся на каменном полу от кофеен и еще каких‑то сервисов для жиль‑ цов, ушедших в небытие. Это дом призраков. Мой внутренний инвестор
