THOMAS PAQUETTE

A Minneapolis native now living in Pennsylvania, Thomas Paquette holds a BFA in painting from Bemidji State University and an MFA in painting from Southern Illinois University. His paintings have been exhibited in over sixty solo shows. Artist residencies include American Academy in Rome, Millay Colony, Aegean Arts and Cultural Exchange, three national parks, and a three-year CAVA residency-fellowship from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts in Miami. His paintings were selected for nineteen U.S. embassies on five continents. A solo show of his paintings, America’s River Re-Explored, traveled to three museums along the Mississippi River in 2018-2019, and another solo show, On Nature's Terms, was exhibited at museums in California, New York and Indiana in 2014 - 2015.

ARTIST STATEMENT I titled the exhibition “From the North” to orient viewers in relation to the paintings. Some were inspired by places north of the Twin Cities such the Arrowhead region and Lake Superior. “From the North” also refers to the general flow of the long Mississippi River, another favorite subject.
