When you first bought this home it was

PERFECT.

You loved all the separate rooms and it had just enough space for the both of you. You loved the neighbourhood it was in and you were just so excited to finally be homeowners. But over the years your family has grown and this once perfect home just isn’t cutting it anymore.

It’s an early morning for your family and all 3 kids are trying to get ready for school at the same time. Your eldest woke up late and is rushing to get into the shower while the two youngest need to brush their teeth. An argument sparks as the eldest kid is taking too much time in the bathroom and now the entire family is late and frustrated. You and your spouse now have to take a break from making lunches and packing backpacks to break up the argument. This makes you late for work and causes a frustrating start to your already stressful day.

It’s finally Friday night, the end of a very long week and you and your spouse are having friends over for dinner. You’re tidying up the living room that was once the kids playroom and trying your best to hide the scratches in the floor from the children’s toys. You do your best to turn off the dated light fixtures and update the space with lamps and candles but it never looks quite right. Your eldest heads outside to ride their bike down the street with hopes to find some kids to ride around the neighbourhood with. They come back frustrated as they get bored on their own and there never seems to be any kids around their age to play with. They drop their bike by the garage and come into the house to sit with you while you’re busily organizing the kitchen from the weekend before. Education is important to you and your spouse; you want the best education possible for your kids. It’s important to both of you that the kids receive a French immersion education but the schools in their area do not currently offer it. You have family members that are bilingual and it’s important that the children have a chance to receive this education for their futures. Another year of school approaches and the kids continue to get older, you worry they will lose out on this opportunity.

JEREMY BROOKS I’ve pretty much lived in Barrie my whole life. My family moved here from Newmarket Ontario when I was 5. I have been in Real Estate since 2009 and absolutely love it. I have an incredible wife, Julie, and 3 beautiful children. Those are the bullet points of Jeremy Brooks that many people know. Here are some of the rest…

I was born into an incredible family. I am the youngest of three boys and am so blessed to have amazing, loving parents and two incredible older brothers. I am now so truly blessed to have my absolutely amazing wife, Julie, and three beautiful children of our own. I even have amazing in-laws and a whole extended family on Julie’s side who I absolutely adore.

I had what a lot of people may refer to as a perfect childhood. My parents have told me stories of the difficult times and challenges they faced when we were growing up. I can’t say I remember any of them.

They did such an amazing job of always giving us everything we ever needed.

My memories of my childhood are a full story in themselves.

I could fill more than a day with just those alone talking about falling asleep in the stands on a Saturday night as a toddler while watching Dad race stock cars all over Ontario. Or how we often took trips to Florida to visit my Grandparents. My brothers and I would spend our days terrorizing

seniors communities on golf carts! Lol, those were the days!

One of those memories was attending church which was always a part of my life from as far back as I can remember. I invited Jesus into my heart when I was 5 years old. I don’t remember all that led up to it, but just remember asking my Dad if he could pray with me to invite Jesus into my heart.

At the time, I knew I felt something, but didn’t really know what it was or fully know what it would mean over the course of my life. All I know now though, is from that moment on He has never let me go, and I would not be who I am today without Him. Growing up I was incredibly self conscious.

I was a happy and healthy kid, but as I grew I became first, the pudgier kid, the slightly “bigger boned” kid and then, as I saw it, the stereotypical fat kid. I always loved to laugh and joke around, but it was because of my weight and self consciousness that I started to use my sense of humor as a coping mechanism.

As I got into high school though, this body image issue was really put under the magnifying glass and it took a lot to keep my feelings hidden.

High school was not a great time for me.

I never really found any direction during that time and spent a whole lot of my time really just trying to fit in and “find myself”. I struggled to be “seen”. I got to a point where I couldn’t take it any longer and made the commitment to change.

This, coupled with a decent growth spurt, allowed me to lose about 75 lbs.

It was a big accomplishment for me and I felt like I was actually becoming someone I liked when I looked in the mirror.

Pretty superficial, I know, but it helped me mentally with how I saw myself.

I ended high school though with really no clue as to what I wanted to do in life, and a general feeling of being somewhat lost and a bit of a failure.

My dad always owned his own business.

Growing up in that kind of environment has played a huge role in where I am today.

I didn’t know it at the time, but just seeing my Dad’s entrepreneurial spirit and drive to work hard and help others has now been ingrained into me.

All the while, I had gotten a job in retail

working at the Hock Shop in Barrie. This was one of my first tastes of sales and I didn’t think much of it at the time, but I was hooked. While I was working at the Hock shop, I met a guy, Jason, who would become a very close friend of mine.

He opened the door to me to the world of car audio and custom stereos, aftermarket car parts etc. A custom stereo division in the Hock Shop was started and it grew to be one the largest car audio sales stores in the area.

This got me thinking about this industry.

At 21 I wrote a 120 page business plan from a business plan template I found on the internet.

I was introduced to a gentleman who was a VP at the company Clublink. I told him about my idea, showed him my business plan and within weeks he was on board as my investor partner. I had sold him.

We opened the shop in the south end of Barrie and I was on top of the world. I was young, had my own business, and on top of that, it was a business that involved fast cars and loud stereos! This was the time that the first Fast and the Furious movie had also just been released which was great for business.

After a 6+ year stint in car sales and even some part time work in the service industry, yes I was bartender at a country music bar for a bit, I started looking into a real estate course. I saw the end coming to my time in the car business and I again, wanted to be in sales, be around people and help people with the amazing feeling of Home that I had always clung to.

I had taken drafting in high school, framed houses with one of my best friends in my 20’s and also had the knowledge of a family friend of ours from way back when I was a kid in Newmarket, being very successful in real estate.

So, I enrolled in the courses and I was off.

Around this time my parents hired a woman named Julie, to help at my Dad’s shop.

I had met her before while popping by here and there, but honestly, never thought much about it other than she seemed nice. I truly believe that it was because of where I was at with my personal life that God didn’t allow me to think much more than that because he knew the plan he had in store and knew I wasn’t ready.

I walked in one morning and there was Julie.

Sitting at her computer like she had been so many other times I had walked in but this time, when she looked up at me and our eyes met, I literally had the feeling come over me that I was going to marry her one day. It was the strangest, weirdest and at the time, scariest feeling I had ever had.

get to know each other and it was the only thing I looked forward to each day, getting to spend time with her.

She made my whole world feel normal again and I was amazed that such an incredible woman could be right there in front of me for years.

Most importantly, she loved Jesus and was a strong Christian seeking Him. I did eventually ask her out, to which she replied “I’ll think about it”.

Hahaha. And think she did. It took her months to finally say yes and go to dinner with me. That was all it took... we hit it off and haven’t looked back.

I now own my own real estate brokerage.

I have enjoyed a great career in Real Estate and have spent time at two other different brokerages in Barrie.

It is a passion of mine and I know I have now found where I am meant to be.

I love the City of Barrie and Simcoe County. I love helping people find Home, in whatever that means for them, and I love the opportunities that each new day brings on this journey of life.

My faith and relationship with Jesus is the backbone of all I am and will be. I could not ask or dream of a better partner in life to travel this journey than Julie. She, and our 3 beautiful kids Rowan, Ryland and Reid are my why.

We’ve already gone over the price point you are looking to sell your home for. Our goal is to only bring you offers within that range.

The same goes for buying your new home. We go over in detail your budget for the new home. We handle the communication between the sellers and let you know if any changes need to be made. We help you with the best moves to make during this entire process and will fight to get you the best deal possible.

The last thing we do is walk you through the final steps. This is where we go over closing paperwork and send it to lawyers and lenders. We can also arrange movers for you to help you with the moving process.

Now we can celebrate this next step in your life with you. We like to give clients gift cards to local businesses to support their new area. Local support is very important to our community.
