Feng Shui for today

Many people have asked me about the practice of Feng Shui and where it all began. This custom is believed to have started six thousand years ago in the Neolithic times.

According to some discoveries, Feng Shui can be placed among the most ancient practices of not only China but the entire world as well. Since those times, it has been carried from one generation to another as well as it has been acquiring new knowledge while deepening the already existing one. Feng Shui is a system approach to interior design which is often characterized by a minimalist appearance, because of its emphasis on de-cluttering. Its principles are compatible with virtually any style of architecture or interior design. The practice of Feng Shui emphasizes the need for people to live in harmony with their environment. To apply Feng Shui you need a complete understanding of the Chinese concepts of Ch'i (energy), Yin and Yang, and the Five Elements. Fire Element is the most "Yang" of the elements. Because fire is so Yang, this is the one instance where colour does work well. Earth element is often confused with soil, which is only part of the element. Remember to feed and water the plant, because if it dies it will hold Sha Ch'i, even on any dead leaves, so keep it in good condition. Although colour is not as effective, the wood element can be replaced by the colour green. You can, of course, use both plant & colour together. - Wood represents the directions of East and South East.

Metal

Metal can be found in many forms. Silver, Gold, Copper, and Bronze are just a few of the Metal Element. You can also be creative when using this element; you could use a brass vase or wall plaque. When choosing an element try to look at the shape, don't use sharp points or unattractive objects just because they have the element you need. Feng Shui is about creating harmony and balance and it should look attractive in the environment you put it in. The colours you should use are white, gold, and silver. - Metal represents the West and North West.
