REVITALIZE Creation of a public space in Lormont, galvanize an abandoned space : Elisee Reclus square.

Situated next to the tramway, this place is neglected and not well frequented.

However, it represent a connection to reach a recently urbanised promenade.

In order to galvanize this square, the creation of a public space seems to be a good solution : it will perpetuate the vegetable way, will bea resting and chilling space, but also somewhere to play, walk through, a place that everyone can appropriate as they want.

THE PUBLIC SPACE IS BECOMING LUDIC, EPHEMERAL, EVOLUTIV. SPACES INITE TO DIFFERENT USES AND INTERPRETATIONS OF THE SQARE. POINT OF RUPTURE IN THE FLUIDITY OF THE GREEN PUBLIC SPACE

CANOPY Creation of 500 accomodations and a public space in Le Bouscat A huge footbridge is crossing the residence to guide to the city center. The housing are respecting the height of existing buidings and are surrinding a huge public place that is digged from 8 meters. A imposant stair is going down to the shops and the square. On the other site, the buildings are raised up to create a perspective. Between those, the new line of traway will go through.

SUSPENSION Living on the ouskirts of the river Arga, in Pampelune, Spain.

At the foot of the high plateau of Pampelona and it fortress, the low city is defined by its housing developments and its larg avenues. the Arga river, real green heart of the city, is creating a rupture between the high medieval part of the city and the low district on the bottom of the montains. This project of housing is taking part of a big urbanism plan, which aims at galvanysing the Magdalena meander. (budding place, without any identity yet.)

We have to redefined an urban unity between the low and the high part of the city, by creating anjoyable housing along the river.

Le long de la haute promenade, les lignes et percées profondes guident mon regard enivré de liberté.

Au bout du belvédère, les tracés fluides s’éloignent tels des nuées de murmures paisibles.

Inscrit dans l’histoire, les hauts monts tranchants s’émancipent de la masse créant un entre deux dangereux.Dans les rues de la ville basse, une vaste étendue pâle, terne et monotone erre à la manière d’un souffle insignifiant. Dans le tumulte de la ville haute, étouffante et bruyante, mon regard se détourne d’une végétation mensongère et illusionniste.

Dans l’entre deux, les hauteurs impressionnantes intègrent les corps, les voix, les sons et les mouvements profonds.Parcourant les rues, la profondeur infinie se dissémine le long des façades noires et élancées.

Surplombant les jardins suspendus, ces fondations saillantes, brutes et intenses m’écrasent comme une force impénétrable.

Aux tréfonds de la terre, la pierre s’engouffre telle une faille inaccessible, fascinante et effrayante.

L’incision nette et soignée tranche telle l’horizon ardu et rèche. Au fond d’un creux, les voix épaisses s’entremêlent comme des désaccords envahissants.

REINTEGRATION Reintegrating the Arga in the fabrication of the low part of the city, Pampelona.

Pampelune is definied by the duality between two urban entities, separated by the river Arga : the upper district has a medieval morphology, and the low district is very new and modern. Many urban improvements has been realised aloung the river, but the low district and its public spaces do not reply to this green lung. Linear and without any charm, the cars are reigning to the detrimnt of the pedestrians.

Therefore, we have to instore a mineral-vegetal dialogue to bring green agoras into the low city part. it would be like respirations that returns to the wealth of the river, and that allows new appropriations of the population in this quatier. Green paths would join those spaces, creating a new parcours in the city. a new urban netting will be instored.

INTERVENTION

OVERHANG IN LIGHTNESS A cultural center and housing for students next to the marine base of Bordeaux.

The main concern of this project is how to bring face to face this huge concrete wall of the marine base, without denigrating his identity, and keeping the idea of liberty that the student like. My project is annexed to one of the wall, and one part (the housing program) is on 3 storeys above a section of the base.

The goal is to create a building in lightness and transparence, a structure with beams and coloms, enveloped in glass and constituated with volumes more or less opaque. The «scaffolding» aspect is a support for ephemeral events (for example colorfull veils could be fixed, projects of the students...)

On the ground floor, we can find the entrance to the auditorium, and to the patio with a climbing wall, visible from all the storeys. On the third floor, is situated a huge openspace, reachable from the flats of the students. On the level up you can find a sports hall with a sauna. The last floor is dedicated to the restaurant, with a terrasse on the roof of the base, to admire th view of Bordeaux.

F R A M E S with Francis Kere Artists housing and cultural buiding to galvanize the Museum quatier of Munchen : the Kunstareal Kunstareal, situated in the city center of Munich has a lack of accessibility and unity, people are not aware that we are in a mueum quatier. Therefore, we cretated a system of wooden doors, framing the district in two rectangles to guide the people into the museums. Moreover, we created two hubs and two furnitures. The main strategy is to take out the emptyness of the courtyard of the glyptotek and create 4 volumes of 36 meters by 36 meters and duplicate them in strategic areas in Kunstareal. We sitated an arena next to film and theater school to have some representations, and some stairs in the green and sunny area, so people can sit, chill and watch the footbal games.

Our main hub is composed of a very free plan on the ground floor, an exhibiton place, which has a different atmosphere at night. A huge stair guide to the first floor, where you can find a café with a terrasse and a librairy for the public.

The artist have their own room, they share the kitchen and two ateliers.

COMMUNITREE

with Francis Kere

The goal is to create a low-tech structure in Ganvié in Benin.

The building provides energy and a gathering place for the community.

Ganvié is a village built on stilts where fishing is a family business. Men goes fishing during the night, then the women prepare the fishes for the market on their boats. There is only one place to get drinkable water, and the lake is very polluted. Therefore, our project is a floating platform with a belt composed of cleaning plants and agriculture surronding a fish farm. On the ground floor, is situated the floating market, so the women have a shaded place to work. On the second floor, we can find the fish preparation, a restaurant, and a nursery for the children not to be alone while their parents are working. The building has two tanks for storing the rain water. Moreover, thanks to the flow of the river, two water wheels provide electricity with a battery stored inside benches.

Two toilets are installed and the compost is taken for the agriculture belt.

The building is mainly made out of bambou. But we also have concrete colums under water so it doesn’t get detroyed and wooden ones upstairs.

FILM DESIGN reintepretation of a drawing of the prison of Piranesi « The Pier with chains».

After analysing the drawing and understanding the structure of the space, we made a 2x2x1 meters model in plaster (for the columns) and fake concrete (for the ground). We reinterpreted the prison into a museum, transforming the old colums in modern works of art, while keeping the most important part : the chains that remains now as decoration.

The used, as in the cinema field, the trick of the miror to build only a part of the model but to make it look twice bigger.

SCENOGRAPHY inventing and modeling a haunted place as if it was a movie set.

We invented a story taking place in an old chapel and then made a 1:20 model. The place burned in 18th century and people say that it is haunted.

A young artist realizes that the painter living in the chapel is obsessed with his scary painting. when he decides to go in the chapel, he discovers a strange closet. .

The room was cold, I could see the light of the moon striking the wooden floor, it was about 2am. The weird sensation that woke me up didn’t fade like the one from a bad dream. That strange feeling in my bones that something was there pushed me to get up of the bed, confused. I walked to the window. From there I could see the rest of the old chapel where the old man lived.

I had moved in this house about a week ago.

This old painter that was an old friend of my teacher at the academy of arts offered a bed and a place to paint in exchange of taking care of his house. He was a little odd, first thing first he was not living in his house but in this chapel next to it. It had burned a long time ago. I never really discovered why he didn’t live in the house, he was very evasive about it, too many souvenirs he said once. He didn’t have any relatives; I think all of them died but like the house he didn’t speak much about it. He didn’t speak that much in general. He was spending all of his time in that chapel. I had never saw him paint, not once, nor his paintings, since he had strongly forbid me to enter the chapel.

But that night, I could not get rid of that impression that something did not belong there. All of the atmosphere was strange. As I was looking out the window, I started to notice a weird smell, indescribable, something I could not recognize.

It was very light, so I opened the window, maybe it was something outside, a fire ?

The smell intensified, a long shiver ran through me, I definitely never smelled that before. I noticed something at the front of the chapel, a light, an odd and weird color, but it was not the shades of a candle.

Intrigued, although repulsed by this bizarre impression, I decided to sneak out to see from closer. I could feel the humidity of the grass through my slippers, trying to be as quiet as possible, that old painter was a little frightening.

As I walked along the cold stone walls the smell invaded my lungs, I could hear my heart beating, I almost turned around, but I had gone too far now. I had to see.

Through the dirty and dusty window, I saw the painter, facing an old and big wood cabinet. I could hear him talk, he seemed frightened. I gesticulated to see the person he was taking to, but the cabinet was blocking the view. I was going to go around to try to see from the other window when I heard it. My body was paralysed, a voice, no, a noise, bizarre, crisp and whistling. It rang in my bones, crunching my skull. I had the certainty. That sound, that light, the smell, where not from there, not from humans, not from animals, not from earth. The painter was talking to that closet, to that thing.

Suddenly the smell became too much, I was suffocating, I stumbled and banged the window. Horrified I saw the painter turn his head towards me. I didn’t take the time to think, I ran through the house, locked me inside my room, closed the curtains. Did he saw me?

I could not sleep this night. In the morning I had taken a decision. I was going to wait for the old man to go as he usually do every morning for his walk, and I would go see what was in that chapel.

ASCENSION VERTE Mercredi 12 octobre 2050,

Très chère Sophie, Comment vas tu ? J’espère que tu te portes bien depuis notre dernière correspondance. Cela fait déjà un mois que nous avons aménagé dans notre nouvel appartement. Les enfants s’y plaisent à merveille. Ils m’aident régulièrement à jardiner dans le potager de notre terrasse, que nous partageons avec une autre famille très aimable. Mathilde va à la chorale de l’espace culturel du quartier avec leur fille, elles sont inséparables. Nous pourrions diner tous ensemble, qu’en dis- tu ? De plus, notre terrasse étant exposée au Nord-Est, les températures sont très agréables tu verras.

Ici, chaque terrasse possède une citerne de récupération d’eau de pluie ainsi qu’une benne à compost, les légumes n’ont jamais eu aussi bonne mine !

Tu verras, on se croirait immergé dans « fenêtre sur cours ». Depuis mon salon, je peux apercevoir de nombreuses pergolas verdoyantes, et au loin, des potagers à perte de vue. La place du marché est aussi très attrayante. C’est un espace de rencontres entre vélos, piétons, rollers, enfants qui courent et jouent dans les fontaines, promeneurs de chiens... J’ai tenté de lire un livre à l’ombre hier, mais j’étais trop captivée par tout cette effervescence.

Des concerts en plein air, marchés de Noel et vide-greniers sont aussi organisés assez souvent sur la grande place.

Mon fils commence son premier job à coté des études. Il est plutôt heureux d’être enfin un peu indépendant. Il travaille au marché couvert en bas de notre immeuble et vend des fruits de saisons le mercredi et le dimanche matin.

J’ai hâte que tu viennes nous rendre visite. Si tu arrives en vélo, je te conseille de longer la ferme pédagogique. C’est un véritable écrin vert, une respiration de fraicheur avant d’arriver dans le quartier de Cracovie. A NEW WAY OF LIVING ON AN INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPE The landscape of the right side of Bordeaux is victim of many dense and strict housing projects, that already seem to be finished and frozen in time and are not takig in consideration the users and the industrial past of the district.

However, the speed of our society nowadays makes us forget the important link between time and architecture. Between Brazza and Bastide-Niel, the site is an industrial wilderness of 9 hectare that reveals many forgotten stories and changing appropriations... The goal of this project is to create a new frame of urbanism, (more experimental) , that will link the forgotten and the revival, the ephemeral and the permanence, the revival and the scalability. The living park will gather different communities and will propose new practices focused on art, sharing, solidarity, emptyness and nature to place the human in the center of the city.

expérimental, qui ferait le lien entre l’oublié et le renouveau, l’éphémère et le permanent, la régénération et l’évolutivité.

Ce parc habité permet de rassembler différentes communautés et propose de nouvelles pratiques plus axées sur le partage, le solidaire, l’art, le vide et la nature pour replacer l’être humain au centre des pratiques de la ville.
