PROGRAM GARIBI HATAO
The power structures and economic policies had only produced modest growth, it became increasingly clear in the late 1960s. However, its benefits had scarcely been distributed fairly. The Garibi Hatoo Program of Indira Gandhi Indira was cognizant of these practical considerations and was in no way dissociated from the larger socialist ideological paradigm with regard to development. She was concerned about how the economy was being impacted by the high costs as prime minister and was aware that the poor were being struck particularly hard. In several sections of the nation, the extremist Naxalite movement was gaining support. She understood the ramifications of the large campaigns for land grabs motivated by communist ideology.
