President’s Progress Report Newberry College has hosted Town Hall Talks throughout the year to update faculty and staff on progress against our strategic initiatives. Here’s a recap of the president’s talk in April.

5 Strategic Priorities GOALS Fall 2017: 450 incoming students; 1,131 total enrollment Fall 2018: 450 incoming students; 1,200 total enrollment New majors in traditional and online degree-completion

WHAT’S HAPPENING • Three new sports (Men’s/Women’s Track & Field & Men’s Lacrosse = Anticipated 48 new students • On track for record-breaking incoming class • Hiring Associate Dean of Enrollment Management

WHAT’S HAPPENING • New position, Associate Dean for Student Success & Persistence, to focus on retention • Expanded Center for Student Success to address multiple risk factors affecting retention • Revamped FYE; refocused College 113, mandatory for freshmen

GOALS Stadium Village - begin phase 2 by December 2017 Nursing building - Shovel in ground by Spring 2018 Science, Math, Art building renovation-start by Fall 2018

GOALS Robust intramural program to engage all students, strengthen community, and create connections Vibrant, highly engaged living/learning communities

GOALS TRADITIONAL Exercise Science, Sustainability, Computer Science, Nutrition ONLINE DEGREE-COMPLETION RN to BSN (Fall 2017), Respiratory Therapy (Spring 2018), Psychology (Spring 2018), Criminal Justice (Fall 2018), Healthcare Management (Fall 2018)

WHAT’S HAPPENING • $16.1M in cash and pledges (halfway to campaign goal) • 1st capital campaign project completed (Center for Teacher Education) • Stadium Village-Phase 1 complete by July 2017 • Largest gift individual gift

4 Support Student Engagement

WHAT’S HAPPENING • New staff to focus on key student engagement programming including: • First Year Experience & Campus Recreation Programs • New residence hall construction • Renovations to Derrick & Cromer

5 Develop New Academic Programs

WHAT’S HAPPENING • Faculty-led development of new degree programs to address industry needs and student interests
