Commonwealth Day 2022 celebrated

C

ommonwealth Day 2022 was celebrated in Australia with a service being held at St John’s Cathedral, Brisbane in the presence of Dr Jeannette Young PSM Governor of Queensland,

dignitaries, community leaders and artists. The service promoted the theme for 2022, ‘Delivering a Common Future’ which was followed by a reception. Commonwealth Day, held on the second Monday in March each year , is an opportunity for individuals, communities and organisations to promote the Commonwealth’s shared values of peace, democracy and equality , and to celebrate the Commonwealth’s rich diversity.

GCQ wins FICQ 2022 cricket event

G

ujarati Community Queensland (GCQ) beat Brisbane Super Kings (BSK) on 20th March, 2022 at Matt Oval Heathwood in the final match of this year’s cricket event organised by the Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) and BSK. GCQ triumphed by 94 runs in the final. Krishna Solapurvala was chosen Player of the Match and Best Batter for his destructive 135-run knock in 54 balls. The awards ceremony was attended by many community leaders and dignitaries, including Cr Angela Owen, who came to congratulate and celebrate the FICQ Multicultural Cup’s success.

WA Multicultural Awards winners announced

he winners of the Western Australia(WA) Multicultural Awards were announced on March 14, 2022. Ten outstanding individuals and organisations were recognised for their commitment to making WA more inclusive and equitable.
