Background & Goals of PACS History of PACS The Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) was formed in 2001 to help and beef up civil society firms operating for the rights and titles of the backward groups of the population in India. The outcome of this program was considerable on the lives of the backward people in the targeted areas. PACS supported and helped Panchayati Raj Organizations – other local self-governing committees - devising them more responsive to the requirements of the backward class people. Membership was made up with more than 17,500 community-based firms. PACS also helped to enhanced cooperation of women in Panchayati Raj Organizations and enhanced knowledge about rights and realization of claims by the backward classes. The PACS is making every effort to enhance non-discriminatory entrance to medical care systems and solutions for socially backward classes, with the help of these programmes including National Rural Health Mission, Janani Suraksha Yojana and many more.
