Bhuntar - Gateway to the Kullu Valley Bhuntar is located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2050 meters above sea level. Bhuntar is one of the foremost destinations of the State. Apart from this, it is also known as the gateway to the Kullu Valley and the city has historical and religious importance.

Bhuntar paves the way for the cities of Kullu and Manali. Bhuntar is about 10 km from Kullu.

Bhuntar has a number of important tourist destinations, including the Jagannath Temple and the Bijli Mahadev Temple. Apart from this, tourists keep coming and going in Bajaura village too.

Beas river also flows in Bhuntar. Vacationers can also enjoy white water rafting here. There is also a relaxation point for camping near the city during summer. Bhuntar's Basheshwar Mandir is also very much liked by the people.

Apart from this, the Adi Brahma temple is located in Khokhan village, about 4 kilometers from Bhuntar. This temple is a huge wooden temple. A large statue of Lord Brahma is present in the middle of the temple complex.

Major Attractions: Bijli Mahadev Temple: It is situated at an altitude of about 2000 meters on the Mathan Parvat near Bhuntar. This temple is completely dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a belief about this

temple that whenever you pass through the glow of light, the Shivling splits into pieces. This temple is built in Kash style.

Basheshwar Temple: It is known for stone carvings, flat shikaras and wondrous sculptures. This temple is located at a distance of just four kilometers from the Bhuntar Airport, so it is very easy to reach here. This magnificent temple originated in the 8th century and is the largest religious place among all the temples of Kullu.

The Great Himalayan National Park: It is located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the most beautiful National Parks in India. This park is spread over an area of ​about 754.4 sq km in 1,171 sq km. This park was included in the list of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2014. It has a great contribution in the conservation of biodiversity.

There are about 375 varieties of trees and plants in the Great Himalayan National Park. Apart from this, more than 31 types of mammals, 181 types of birds, 3 types of reptiles, 9 types of amphibians, 17 types of mollusks and about 127 types of insects are found here. Special arrangements have been made for their protection under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

It would be best to go here between October and November as the tracks are organized by the Himalayan EcoTourism Team during that time. Avoid going here in winters because during that time it gets very cold here and sometimes snowfall is also seen. Completely avoid visiting here during the monsoon season.

How to Reach:By Air: Bhuntar Airport or Kullu Manali Airport is located at the bank of Beas river. It is well connected to many major cities like Chandigarh, Dharamshala, New Delhi and Shimla.

By Rail: The nearest railway station to Bhuntar is Pathankot. It is actually a junction and its network is spread all over North India. It is well connected to several major cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Jammu, Ahmedabad and Lucknow by means of the Hatai-Muri Link Express, Himsagar Express, Sealdah-Jammu Tawi Express, Jhelum Express and Jammu-Tawi-Ahmedabad Express etc.

By Road: Bhuntar is well connected to major cities like Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Jammu through Himachal Pradesh State Board Transport Corporation (HPSRTC) and some other private travel services. It is 11 km from Kullu, 50 km from Manali, 60 km from Mandi, 105 km from Rampur, 195 km from Shimla and 210 km from Baddi.
