The Convocation@IBROffice ceremony is becoming popular day by day.

People from every part of the country are showing interest in participating in this amazing monthly event. The situation is such that the waiting list has started getting longer and booking for the next few months is already done.

Read the details of the second convocation ceremony inside in the cover story. Apart from this, many interesting stories are also included in this issue.

On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, students and teachers of Jain Shantamani Kala Kendra, Bengaluru, Karnataka created a large idol of Lord Ganesha using waste materials and old newspapers, which set a record. The objective of this project was to create awareness about the environment and to encourage waste upcycling.

Ranchi, Jharkhand based Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology once again created a new record this year. This time the students and chefs there together prepared 54 varieties of dishes in 52 minutes using Madua flour as the basic ingredient. Another story is about Vijay Devarkhyani of Bhopal, a case of Locomotor Disability above 82% (Cerebral Palsy with mental retardation). He set a record for aerial runway by ziplining between two 473 feet high towers, which is an example in itself.

he Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Amazon Web Services (AWS), organized by Brainovision Solutions India Pvt Ltd, in association with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and in collaboration with more than 400 Engineering Colleges and Universities across India, turned out to be a monumental initiative. The activity, which took place from

August 21 to 25, 2023, was broadcasted live on Youtube and Zoom platforms, created a new record under the India Book of Records (IBR).

The programme was exclusively designed for college faculty and aimed to empower educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively harness the power of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing services in their teaching methodologies. By doing so, it aimed to equip students with the practical skills required to excel in the digital era. A total of 28,000 registered faculty members from the related engineering colleges and universities participated in the activity. Dr Buddha Chandra Shekhar, Chief Coordinating Officer from the AICTE, was the chief guest of the concluding programme, while Ms Yasashwi S from Brainovision was the special guest. The event was coordinated by Dr Jayahsri B Madalgi, Prof Abhishek Nazare, and Prof Swarooprani Manoor.

An expert in managing advanced technologies, processes, cybersecurity, and people, Dr Buddha Chandra Shekhar has developed more than 180 tech-based systems. Dr Chandra

Shekhar is focused on making India as education and knowledge capital of the world by providing the best education, technology, skilling, entrepreneurship, startup, internships, and innovation eco-system to the youth of India. His focus has been on strategy, technology, and business transformation.

The programme offered participating faculty members an extensive exploration of AWS services, covering computing, storage, databases, networking, and more. Participants gained a profound understanding of the AWS ecosystem. Through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and real-world case studies, faculty members were engaged in hands-on learning experiences. These activities ensured a deeper comprehension of AWS applications in academic contexts. The FDP was led by experienced industry professionals with in-depth knowledge of AWS. Their guidance and insights enriched the programme and kept it aligned with industry best practices.

In his communication with the India Book of Records magazine, Ganesh Nag Doddi, who has been associated with the programme, said, “The AWS Faculty Development Programme

(FDP) was planned and executed to empower engineering college faculty with the knowledge and skills related to AWS (Amazon Web Services) technology. The primary goals might include enhancing faculty members’ understanding of cloud computing, AWS services, and modern development practices. This initiative benefited the faculty by ensuring the integration of current industry practices into the academic curriculum, fostering a more up-to-date and practical learning environment. The programme likely involved Hands-on sessions and resources to effectively convey AWS concepts to faculty members, enabling them to educate students on cutting-edge technologies.”

Youngest Software Developer Bharadwaj D.V.R.S., hailing from Rajahmundry,

Mathematics Maestro Zillar Rahman, hailing from Murshidabad, West

He authored a book titled ‘Universal Competitive Maths’ in Bengali language, published by Unique Path Finder in the year 2023. An Artistic YouTube Odyssey Durga Sheshrao Thakre, hailing from Pune,

Maharashtra, has carved her niche in the digital realm of art and creativity. She accomplished a remarkable record and etched her name in the India Book of Records by making and uploading a staggering 2,300 videos of rangoli designs on her YouTube channel,’Durga Thakre’.

Dedication to Cultural Heritage Jetavath Mothilal, a proud member of the Banjara community from Nalgonda, Telangana, has earned well-deserved Appreciation in the India Book of Records. He served as Deputy Sthapathi at YTDA (Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority), Telangana.

Commendable Techno-literary Work Sunil Venjaramoodu, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, produced a remarkable techno-literary work at the age of about 49 years when his book was published with poems having QR codes.

He set a record in India Book of Records for publishing a book titled, ‘Oxygen’ with the maximum number of QR codes generated for all the poems in it.

Excellent Memory Prowess Advaith Ram Reddy who hails from Bengaluru,

Penchant for Stars C.M. Vaishnav Samrat, hailing from Chittoor,

Fast and Witty Writing Skills Laija G., who belongs to Kollam, Kerala has

become the fastest to write the names of all districts of Kerala in Malayalam mirror writing. She wrote the names of all the 14 districts of Kerala in Malayalam mirror writing in 58 seconds and 71 milliseconds.

Her remarkable speed and knowledge showcase her impressive memory and passion for the geography of her home state.

Eye-catching Charcoal Portrait Tanvi Sanjayrao Nalamwar, a resident of

Gondia, Maharashtra, showed a marvelous portrait skill by drawing the largest charcoal portrait of Sushant Singh Rajput. She made this charcoal portrait, measuring 5.5 inches x 4.5 inches, of the late Bollywood Actor, Sushant Singh Rajput on a white drawing sheet.

Exceptional Sportsmanship of Three Sibling Sisters Mr. Jitendra Singh, proud father of the rockstar daughters, Priya Yadav, Geeta Yadav, and Ritu Yadav was elated to meet and share about the exemplary sportsmanship of his daughters.

His daughters set a record of being the first Indian team of sisters who won bronze and silver medals in Taekwondo International Championship. They won a total number of 3 bronze medals together in the European Cup Poomsae G2 and 3 Silver medals together in the Swedish Open Poomsae G2 in Sweden.

oday, one in every 11 people in the world has Diabetes, a figure that is projected to rise to one in nine by 2045 if action is not taken. Diabetes places a great burden on health systems. Considering the urgency to act immediately, Novo Nordisk India Private Limited started working with health authorities and other partners in the countries where it operates, to prevent and treat the disease. The company recently set a record for ‘Maximum pledges signed by health care professionals (HCPs) to support and appreciate insulin usage’. The Bengaluru, Karnataka, based company initiated a campaign wherein a total of 8328 doctors across the country logged in to a portal specially created for the campaign - From Fear to Freedom, and signed the digital pledges between India Book of Records | November 2023

The social responsibility strategy of the company introduced long-term ambitions in three areas critical to help improve individual and public health, i.e. preventing the rise of type 2 Diabetes and obesity, providing access to affordable care for vulnerable patients in every country, and driving innovation to improve lives. The company is expanding its Changing Diabetes in Children program to reach 1,00,000 children by 2030. Already, the program has helped more than 30,000 children with type 1 Diabetes get access to medical care and life-saving medicine in low-resource settings. It plans to provide affordable human insulin in low- and middle-income countries. Novo reduced the ceiling price of human insulin from USD 4 to USD 3 per vial in 76 low- and middle-income countries. This was a vital expansion of its Access to Insulin Commitment to strengthen efforts to reach the most vulnerable people with low-cost insulin.

There are many reasons why chronic diseases such as type 2 Diabetes and obesity have been on the rise for decades. Some are due to risk factors that are not preventable, such as genetic factors and the simple fact that humans are living longer. Doing

nothing to stop this rise can lead to more human suffering. But there are areas where preventive actions can have a positive effect. Increasing urbanization, socioeconomic inequalities, less active lifestyles, and poorer diets are often the main reasons why more and more people are being diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and obesity.

As per the information shared with the India Book of Records, Novo Nordisk India Pvt Ltd approached thousands of medical physicians across the country to participate in the digital pledge-taking to spread the word about Diabetes awareness among patients and the general public. In the process, a total of 8328 doctors joined the campaign and took the online pledge to

be part of the awareness drive. Thus, a record was established under the IBR and the ABR together. It was informed that two out of three people living with type 2 Diabetes reside in cities.

The way urban areas are designed, built, and run is changing the way we live and, in some cases, increasing individuals’ vulnerability to type 2 Diabetes. Novo coined the term ‘urban diabetes’ as a way to focus on the risk factor inherent in cities, and launched a global public-private partnership called Cities Changing Diabetes.

The 46-year-old police constable posted in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, set the record for ‘Vertical floating without physical movement for the longest duration by a quinquagenarian’. He floated for the longest duration of 1 hour and 2 minutes at the Police swimming pool at Jog Stadium, Amravati.

His previous record under the supervision of the India Book of Records was for ‘Performing the maximum number of yogasana on water’.

A swimmer from childhood, Pravin performed a total of 50 yogasana (yoga positions) on the water at Takshashila Swimming Pool, Uttam Nagar, Amravati, in 22 minutes and 52 seconds on May 28, 2023.

The yoga positions included Tadasana, Namaskarasana, Shavasana, Garudasana, Ustrasana, Utkatasana, Uttanpadasana, Trikonasana, Naukasana, Gomukhasana, Natrajasana, Pawanmuktasana, etc.

To attempt floating in the vertical position, you will need to be in water that exceeds your height. Do not attempt this without appropriate supervision if you are not comfortable swimming in deep water.

His father, Dadarao Marotrao Akhare was also in police service and was awarded the President’s Medal for his remarkable services. Inspired by his father’s glorious career, Pravin thought about putting his best foot forward and earning a position in water-related activities. Pravin joined the police force through sports quota. During his service at the flood control and rescue squad from 2012 to 2019, he rescued 55 civilians and pulled 78 bodies from flooded areas. His police job keeps him busy and it is very difficult to find spare time for swimming practice.

“Fortunately, I got posted at the police swimming pool, where I start practice at 4 a.m. I do practice in the night also when the pool is closed during holidays,” he told the IBR magazine.

He also wants to train others in water activities. For swimming enthusiasts, his advice is to keep practicing honestly and follow the guidelines given by the instructors.

For vertical floating, his advice is to swim to a location in the water that is deeper than your height to prevent your feet from touching the ground. Take a deep breath to fill your lungs with air. The more air you have in your lungs, the more buoyant you will be. Allow your body to relax, with arms and legs hanging down. Slowly spread your arms out across each side to provide a larger surface area for buoyant forces. Tilt your head back so that your mouth and nose point up to the sky. Remain relaxed during this, as sudden muscle tension can affect your buoyancy.

Try to keep a moderate amount of air in your lungs while taking slow short breaths. Exhaling too much air may cause you to lose buoyancy and sink.

he record for the maximum number of students doing Python programming in Google Colaboratory with social messages was set by the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) of Paavai Engineering College of Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. The primary aim of the Python programming activity was to set a record for the maximum number of students engaging in collaborative Python coding using Google Colaboratory. Beyond the record, the goal was to promote the integration of social messages into coding, fostering a sense of responsibility and impact among participants.

The social messages covered a spectrum of issues, including green earth (carbon footprint calculator, water footprint calculator), poverty and hunger, energy consumption calculator, gender equality and women’s empowerment, gratitude journal program, waste reduction calculator, environmental conservation, fitness revolution (empowering your body and mind), and C-code for a better future. Each Python program

crafted during the event addressed a specific societal concern.

The attempt was executed with a live demonstration on stage

by GDSC Lead, S Vikram Raja. He initiated and performed ten Python programs on Google Colab, addressing various social messages, while participants across the venue actively followed and replicated the coding sequences. The event was held under the guidance of GDSC faculty advisor, Dr B Venkatesan.

Beyond record-setting attempts, the Google Developer Student Club regularly conducts coding sessions, workshops, and collaborative projects to enhance technical skills and promote a culture of continuous learning.

“The team faced one notable challenge and that was intermittent internet connectivity issues. Despite these challenges, the participants showcased remarkable resilience and enthusiasm throughout the event. There were no rehearsals conducted before the attempt. The event unfolded in real time, creating an authentic and dynamic atmosphere. B Sagayaraj, the adjudicator from the India Book of Records verified the claim before announcing the record,” said S Vikram Raja.

Challenging the highest

motorable road

mling La, also known as Umlung La, is a mountain pass in the remote Ladakh, on the ridgeline between Koyul Lungpa and the Indus River near Demchok. It forms the source for the Umlung Stream that drains into the Indus and a tributary of the Kiungdul River that drains into Koyul Lungpa. A road between Chisumle and Demchok traverses the Umling La pass, also called the Umling La Road, in the vicinity of the pass, making it the world’s highest motorable road. In 2017 a road was constructed between Chisumle and Demchok villages passing through Umling La. Completed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), it became the world’s highest motorable road and pass.

The pass is located at kilometer 24, part of the 52 km ChisumleDemchok road.

A group of bikers from Gurugram, Haryana reached up to this highest motorable road in the mighty Himalayas, creating a record under the guidance of the India Book of Records. The record is for a bike expedition from the lowest to the highest motorable road, set by the Harley Owners Group (HOG). Its 10 riders rode their Harley Davidson motorcycles from Kuttanad (7 feet below sea level) in Kerala on August 8, 2023, and ended at Umling La (19,024 feet above sea level) in Ladakh on August 15, 2023. During this ride, the group covered a total distance of 3800 km.

The route of the expedition covered some of the prominent cities of India, starting from Kuttanad (Kerala), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), Narsingpur (Madhya Pradesh), Gurugram (Haryana), Chandigarh (UT), Manali Jaspa (Himachal Pradesh), Hanley, and ending at the ultimate destination of Umling La pass (Ladakh).

According to a group member, “We wanted to attempt a record by riding our Harley Davidson motorcycles from the lowest altitude to the highest altitude motorable road in India. We chose the route of Kuttanad in Kerala to Umling La in Ladakh.

Our attempt started from Kuttand (Kerala) on August 8, 2023, at 7 am, and ended at Umling La, Ladakh on August 15, 2023 at 9 am.”

The bikers who participated in this record-setting expedition included some of the best individuals with brave hearts and sharp minds. They were: Ms Sunita Kunjeer (born on November 29, 1974), Mr Saurabh Suman (born on September 28, 1985), Ms Anushriya Gulati (born on March 24, 1995), Mr Ankush Gulati (born on August 9, 1970), Mr Rohit Mehta (April 5, 1982), Mr Abhishek Yadav (born on August 6, 1994), Mr Shantanu Vyas (born on November 22, 1984), Mr Maxie Lewis (born on 11, 1966), Mr Manu Joseph (born on September 29, 1970) and Mr Deepak Sharma (July 22, 1982). The record-setting team was presented a certificate and the medal by the adjudicators from the India Book of Records, Vinod Singh, Smita Singh, and Sugata Das.

Using the Isuzu Dmax V cross pickup vehicle, the Harley Owners Group of Gurugram, Haryana, established a record for an expedition from the lowest to the highest motorable road by a pickup.

Shashwat Gupta, who drove the pickup under this expedition, told the India Book of Records magazine, “Our mission was to just do it together and help each other in relevance that the Pickup could do it lot faster than the bikers. We at Mountain Goat already hold the fastest north-to-south solo record with

Paras Bhimta. We plan to break all three records – Solo, Team, and EV next year and make a documentary around it.”

The expedition was week-long, from Kuttanad (Kerala) to Umling La (Ladakh). Shashwat Gupta drove his Isuzu V-Cross. On Independence Day, he reached Umling La, the world’s highest motorable road, at 19,024 feet height. He had driven 4600 km across India and straight into the record books.

It is worth mentioning here that HOG is an exclusive biking group, which only includes Harley Davidson owners. Buying one of these machines ensures membership, rights to a members-

only website, newsletters, and a platform to meet other HOG owners from around the world. HOG has become more of a cult over the years, courtesy of the status symbol the Harley Davidson brings with it. Popular HOG trails around Delhi include the Delhi-Faridabad route via Gurgaon, central Delhi (areas around the Rashtrapati Bhawan), and on a special Sunday, a Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi ride that starts at 5.30 am. Vinod Singh, Smita Singh, and Sugata Das – the IBR adjudicators presented the record certificates to the successful HOG team.

group of students from Bengaluru, Karnataka, have created a 22 feet 7 inches high symbolic idol of Lord Ganesha, using upcycled materials like newspapers, wire, string, rope, and 21 kg of flour in 21 hrs with the purpose of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi as well as to convey the message of the necessities to protect the environment with modernity. It is claimed to be the world’s largest idol of this kind. The accomplishment was acknowledged by the prestigious Asia Book of Records (ABR).

The eco-friendly idol of Lambodar was crafted by Shantamani Kala Kendra, Bengaluru, in collaboration with Jain (Deemed-tobe University) School of Design, Media, and Creative Arts.

“The statue was crafted from recycled newspapers obtained from the university. The artwork was created within 21 hours by a creative group of 21 students, instructors, and staff using 21

kg of flour and 108 kg of newspapers. This majestic idol serves as a powerful symbol of environmental awareness in addition to being a beautiful piece of art. This project delivered an important message about the imperative need to protect our environment by utilizing waste materials like old newspapers, wires, and other things. It encourages all of us to adopt a more sustainable way of life and fight to protect and preserve the environment and this planet. The symbolic depiction of Lord Ganesha with his trunk raised acted as a heartfelt plea to Mother Earth to combat pollution. This message struck a chord in an era when environmental sustainability is a top priority,” said Dr Chenraj Roychand, Chancellor of Jain University.

Neuropathic pain can happen if the nervous system is damaged or not working correctly. The pain can be felt from any of the various levels of the nervous system - the peripheral nerves, the spinal cord, and the brain. Together, the spinal cord and the brain are known as the central nervous system. Peripheral nerves are the ones that are spread throughout the body to places like organs, arms, legs, fingers, and toes.

Alkem Laboratories Ltd of Maharashtra set the record for the maximum number of doctors pledged online for providing dual relief in neuropathic pain within two weeks. They launched an online pledge campaign which started on September 13, 2023, and ended on September 26, 2023, wherein a total of 3100 doctors participated to raise awareness about the benefits of integration of psychological care and physical treatment in neuropathic pain. An application was created in which doctors took the pledge by clicking a button and uploading their photo with the pledge tag. The record has got a place in the prestigious Asia Book of Records (ABR).

The Alkem Laboratories Ltd spokesperson, told the India Book of Records magazine that neuropathy is a disturbance of function or a change in one or several nerves. Diabetes is responsible for about 30% of neuropathy cases. It is not always easy to tell the source of the neuropathic pain. There are hundreds of diseases that are linked to this kind of pain.

The nerve function may change at the site of the nerve damage, as well as areas in the central nervous system.

Some precautions are also suggested to the patients during this condition: take care of your feet, especially if you have diabetes; stay healthy, eat healthy meals, lose weight, and quit smoking; avoid repetitive movements, cramped positions, toxic chemicals, and too much alcohol - things that cause nerve damage; do not ignore symptoms; do not stop taking medicine or change the dosage even after feeling better until the doctors say so; do not use any medicines (including over-the-counter and herbal products) without asking the health care provider.

It was also said that nerve pain is often worse at night. It may interfere with important parts of life such as sleep, sex, work, and exercise. Many people with nerve pain become angry and frustrated and may have anxiety and depression.

A total of 2151 units of blood were collected at different camps between 7 am and 7 pm on August 8, 2023, which has been recognized by the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. Donors assembled at blood donation camps set up across the various plant locations, manufacturing units, regional offices, and real estate sites of the company to donate blood.

Life-saving blood was collected with the assistance of local hospitals and blood banks throughout the country, and the success of the drive was made possible through the collaborative efforts of volunteers, medical professionals, and individuals who generously contributed their time, resources,

and support. Blood donation camps are a regular feature of the company. An annual blood donation drive is conducted in Mumbai every year in the month of August as a part of honoring the ideals and legacy of the late BP Godrej.

In order to mark the celebration of International Year of Millet 2023 and World Tourism Day 2023, the Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (IHM Ranchi), Jharkhand, showcased its culinary excellence by preparing more than 54 varieties of Madua cookies in a record time. A total of 26 students along with 5 Chefs made and displayed 54 varieties of Jharkhandi Madhua flour-based cookies in 52 minutes and 40 seconds at the institute. Thus a record was created for preparing and displaying the maximum varieties of Madua flourbased cookies in 60 minutes, under the India Book of Records (IBR). Madua flour can be used for making various delicacies such as Madua Chilka Roti, Madua Ladoo, Madua Chips, Madua Shakarpara, Madua Nimki, Madua Pani-puri, Madua Sev, Madua Momos, Madua Noodles and many more items.

Dr Bhupesh Kumar, Principal, Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition (IHM Ranchi/SIHM), an autonomous Institution under Department of Tourism, Art Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Jharkhand), told the India Book of Records magazine that the challenge of making maximum varieties of Jharkhandi Madua Flour-Based Cookies within a specified time needed a lot of planning, preparation and execution. The first challenge was to curate all the recipes.

So all the cookies were first tried and tested under the hit and trial method, substituting ingredients and then finally the best

in the stipulated time with the standard operating procedure, maintaining the taste and quality.

He further added that IHM Ranchi being a pioneer in promoting the rich heritage and cultural cuisines of the state, took action to promote our indigenous millet variety. We already accomplished a record for the India Book of Records last year i.e. on October 21, 2022, using Madua. Thus, we took this challenge to promote and popularize millet flour in bakery products as bakery products connect better with the new generation. It took a team of 26 people (21 students and 5 faculty members) to achieve this feat.

The whole activity took a few months of research and then a week of practice and we executed better than we predicted on the day of the record attempt. It was all possible because of the dedication of the team of Chefs and students from IHM Ranchi.

taying hydrated is one of the best things one can do for the overall health. Staying hydrated can help support physical performance, prevent headaches and constipation, and more. The human body comprises around 60% water. It is commonly recommended that one should drink at least two to three liters of water every day. Considering the importance of water in general wellbeing, Ganesh Paraji Kute (42) of Mumbai, Maharashtra, developed a habit of drinking enough water in the fastest manner. He even got appreciated by the India Book of Records (IBR) for drinking one litre of water from a plastic bottle in 20 seconds.

Ganesh Paraji Kute told the India Book of Records magazine that he has been practicing drinking water in the fastest manner for the last 10 years or so. Once he was sitting with his relatives at a community gathering, where someone challenged him to drink two litre of Thums Up in one go. He emptied the soft drink bottle without much difficulty and that became a turning point in his life. He kept on drinking more water and other liquids, increasing the amount bit by bit.

Observing his skill and capacity, one of his friends advised him to approach the India Book of Records for recognition.

The record management team appreciated the feat and issued him a certificate of appreciation. Ganesh Kute has already received few more records and recognitions. He says that he is unstoppable and courageous by nature and very much determined to achieve his target. He is fond of reading books like Bhagwad Geeta and leads a simple lifestyle.

It is worth mentioning here that drinking enough water every day is good for health and wellness. He said that it helps in maximizing physical performance. If you do not stay hydrated, your physical performance can suffer. This is particularly important during intense exercise or hot weather.
