The Pride of Jalore

T

he Jalore Festival is organized every year in the Jalore district of Rajasthan. Recently, from February 15-17, 2022, Jalore district administration, under the joint aegis of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and Jalore Development Committee organized the Jalore Festival. A special program of Mojadi - Jalori Jutti was held on the opening day of the festival, which was named – ‘Mojadi hai shaan, Jalore ki pehchan’ (Mojadi is a pride, an identity of Jalore). In this unique event, a large number of citizens of the district and surrounding areas, wearing their hand-crafted Mojadi, were invited to participate in the national anthem show at Shah Punjaji Genaji Stadium of Jalore on 15th February at 10.30 am. A group of 1,000 people from the district and surrounding region was targeted for the national anthem, but an additional 275 people reached the venue. The residents of Jalore, who reached the stadium in large numbers, including children and elders wearing Jalori Mojadi and colorful turban, created history and set a national record. District Collector Ms Namarata Vrishni, IAS and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr Harsh Vardhan Agarwala, IPS also participated in the program wearing Mojadi.

Altogether 1,275 people wearing Mojadi took part in the national anthem (Jan Gan Man) enthusiastically. The gathering included men, women, government employees and common citizens. All were proudly wearing colorful Mojadis. On this occasion, district officers, officials of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and secretary of Jalore Development Committee were present. This information was given by the coordinator of the event, Mr Kulwant Kalma. He is working as Executive Engineer at Zila Parishad Jalore, under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Rajasthan. A team from the India Book of Records (IBR) awarded the certificate and the medal to Jalore District Administration for setting a national record for singing the National Anthem collectively at one place during the Jalore Mahotsav 2022 where maximum number of participants were present in handmade Mojadis. The special type of Mojadi made in Bhinmal and Badgaon of Jalore district is very popular across the country. For the first time such a show was organized with the aim of giving the Jalori Mojadi proper recognition at the international level.

Jalore district, adjacent to Barmer district known for its oil and mineral deposits in the northwest, is close to the Pakistan border. Even today, the traditional and cultural identity is maintained in this part of Rajasthan. Whether it was a ‘Gair’ or ‘Chang’ the performing arts of this region are appreciated well in the country and abroad. Jalore is also famous for its ‘loor’ dance by female artists and the ‘dhol’ dance by men.

Marathons despite Hemiplegia

T

he record for completing the maximum number of half marathons by a person with Hemiplegia was set by Nihad Panju (born on September 25, 1990) from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He completed six half-marathons from 2012 to 2021 despite a left-sided Hemiplegia. Nihad Panju is a marathon runner. At the age of 5 months, Nihad was diagnosed with Tubercular Meningitis which left him with a left-sided Hemiplegia (partial paralysis caused by brain injury). His parents tried every possible conventional and alternative therapy and treatment available, but there was very little to no improvement and as years went by, they gradually accepted that a hurt brain cannot be fixed but there were ways to overcome obstacles that Nihad would face in life. At age 10, Nihad’s parents were introduced to the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP), based in Philadelphia, which prescribed an extensive holistic neurological reorganization program. It addressed physical, intellectual, physiological, nutritional and neurological aspects and involved grueling 14hour workdays with no holidays. Nihad had to be taken out of school to accomplish this and worked tirelessly at the physically and mentally excruciating demands set by the program. The difference, however, was that he knew that the program was positively impacting his balance, coordination, vision, strength, speech and was motivated to pursue the regimen despite the exhaustion and pain he endured. After almost four and a half years on the program, Nihad had the confidence to re-join school. He completed his IGCSE and moved to Singapore to study Interactive Multimedia Design. To continue to improve his physical abilities, Nihad was given a running program. This included daily aerobic running. Running was essential for him to be fit and to improve his mobility. It was during this time that Nihad developed a life-long love of running and started dreaming of running marathons. Throughout the years when he was prepping to be a marathon runner, a lot of people told him that he would never be able to

succeed or lead a normal life. He believes that may have been the case had his friends and family not been around; continuously helping him to push boundaries and be the best that he can be. It was this motivational attitude that inspired him to run marathons. Nihad started his preparations with baby steps, running three rounds (1.2 kms) of the CCI grounds in Mumbai every day. Thanks to a brilliant trainer he was running 12-14 rounds of the stadium within a short time after which he was introduced to running on the road. In addition to the six half marathons in India and Singapore, Nihad has taken part in various events including the Tata Mumbai Marathon 10K (2019), the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon Dream Run (2018), Terry Fox Cancer Run (2017), the Devil’s Circuit (2019), the Standard Chartered Singapore Half Marathon (2017), the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon Half Marathon (2016), and Pune Running Beyond Myself - Adventures beyond Barriers (2016). Nihad believes that people must not allow any kind of disability to prevent them from any of their dreams. It is possible that with determination and hard work you can do anything you want to - even if you are told achieving something is impossible. If he can do it, anyone can. Nihad’s story is that of grit, perseverance, character, and resilience. Sachin Pillai’s film ‘Not Fragile’, has captured very intimate moments of Nihad’s challenging life on screen. His achievements in sports have given the world an identity to inspire from. India Book of Records | April 2022

Unique Camel Race at Jaisalmer Maru Mahotsav

T

he record for maximum camel race in a cultural exhibition during the Jaisalmer Maru Mahotsav, 2022 was set by Dr Pratibha Singh, IAS, District Administration, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. A total of 75 beautifully decorated camels participated in the camel race on February 16, 2022 at Sam Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer. Thousands of locals and domestic tourists witnessed the colourful and glorious event. Jaisalmer Desert Festival is an annual programme that takes place in the beautiful city of Jaisalmer in the month of February. The mega event was held amidst the beautiful dunes of the Thar Desert at Sam Tibba, 42 km from Jaisalmer. The venue came alive during the four-day extravaganza. The event was named as ‘Ret ke samandar par raftaar ka romance’. Basically, it is a sporting activity in which the participants ride a camel. Camel racing is popular in different countries like Bahrain, Jordan, Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan etc. Racing is said to have originated before the Islamic period. Informal races and competitions continued in Arabia for the last three decades of the 20th century, and then later began the trend of holding formal competitions. The district collector of Jaisalmer, Dr Pratibha Singh, IAS, decided to establish a national record in camel racing, hence special arrangements were done for the event. A total of 75 camels participated in the record setting event, which got

4

recognition in the India Book of Records. The camels were decorated with handmade colourful ribbons and strings. A special racing track was made for the event. First three winners of the race were rewarded by the district administration. The camel race has attracted worldwide attention as an international sport and has become a great tourist activity as well. It is also a part of many fairs and festivals in Rajasthan like the Pushkar Camel Fair and the Bikaner Camel Fair among others. The Pushkar Camel Fair is basically organized in the month of October-November, while the Bikaner Camel Fair is held annually in the month of January and is celebrated in honour of the camels and dedicated to them for surviving in the harsh desert conditions. There is a historic background of the Jaisalmer Maru Mahotsav. It is believed that Lord Krishna told Arjuna that a successor of the Yadav community would establish his kingdom on Trikuta hill. In the year 1196, the prophecy made by Lord Krishna came true, when Rawal Jaiswal, a descendant of the Yadav dynasty, established his kingdom in Jaisalmer. Celebrations were held all over the state, when people came to know that the prophecy had come true. The ceremony soon evolved into a festival which is now held every year.

Mesmerizing Tunes on Camels

T

he four-day Jaisalmer Maru Mahotsav 2022 will be remembered for the fact that two national records were set and the event got registered in the India Book of Records. In addition to the maximum camels taking part in a race, another important record was established for playing the most musical instruments on the moving camels. The record setting initiative was taken by the District Collector of Jaisalmer, Dr. Pratibha Singh, IAS. She believes that such public activities give impetus to the tourism and culture of the state and the country. At the same time, the glory of Maru Mahotsav increased this year with the creation of two national records. This glorious record setting event took place on February 16, the concluding day of Maru Mahotsav, at Sam Sand Dunes location, in which 50 local musicians gave a memorable performance playing traditional musical instruments of Rajasthan sitting on camels. The famous Desert Festival in Jaisalmer, popularly known as the Golden City of Rajasthan, is held every year in the month of February. The record-setting activity was given the name of ‘Registan ke jahaaj par Suron ke sartaaj’. Maru Mahotsav was organized in Pokaran village on February 13-16, 2022. The Maru Mahotsav began with a colorful grand procession (shobha yatra) followed by Miss Pokaran and Mr Pokaran competitions. Regional folk dances like Kalbelia, Kachhi Ghodi and Gair were

also performed. The programme was flagged off by Rajasthan’s Minority Affairs Minister Saleh Mohammad. The camel competitions associated with the desert festival took place amidst the beautiful dunes of the Thar Desert at Sam Tibba, 42 km from Jaisalmer city. The record-setting activity involved 50 camels adorned with colorful fringes and flowers. The audience, involving locals and tourists from around the country, was mesmerized when the traditional musicians of Rajasthan state performed folk music on musical instruments like dhol, harmonium, sarangi, shahnai, dholak, etc. Generally, a lot of foreign tourists enjoy this festival every year, but this time due to the restrictions on international flights because of the pandemic, most of the visitors were locals. It was a wonderful and memorable sight. Although this event is held almost every year, it was for the first time that such a large number of camels and folk musicians participated in the event. To conclude the felicitation ceremony, the certificate was presented to the District Collector Dr. Pratibha Singh, IAS, by the adjudicator of India Book of Records. The program was conducted by theater artists Vijay Ballani, Preeti Bhatia and Paras Swami.

Unfailing Passion for Walking

8

India Book of Records | April 2022

T

he record for the maximum distance walked in a day by a quinquagenarian (a person who is in 50’s) is held by Dyandev Dhondiba Pathare, a 54-year-old farmer from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Recently, he set a national record for the most distance covered in a day by walking. He covered a total distance of 102 km in 19 hours. The record-making drive

began at 2 pm on February 16, 2022 and ended at 9.10 am on February 17, 2022. Dyandev hails from Jaule village in Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district. The famous social worker Anna Hazare’s village Ralegan Siddhi is just 8 km away from his village. His actual age at the time of making a walking record was 53 years 7 months 11 days. Dyandev says that when he turned 50, he started walking for the purpose of maintaining good health. When asked from where he got the idea of making the record, Dyandev said that one day he was just doing some Google search on the Internet. Suddenly he came to know about a 24-year-old youth who had set a national record of walking 87.5 km in 21 hours. This national record of February 2021 was registered in the India Book of Records (IBR). From there he thought that this record had been made by a 24-year-old boy, while he himself was around 54 years old, so why not try and set a new record. The idea clicked and served the purpose. Once he made up his mind, he just became obsessed for setting a new record for walking. He started keeping a track of how many kilometers were traveled daily. First, he walked 50 km in a day, then raised it to 60 km, and ultimately reached the level of 70 km a day. The practice continued and the numbers kept increasing. Finally, a day came when he covered 90 km in 21 hours. He was satisfied that at least he had acquired the ability to break the young man’s record. Then the practice of reducing the time and increasing the distance intensified and finally the day came when he set his new national record in the presence of the India Book of Records observers. Dyandev (born on July 6, 1968) is a farmer by profession, which is a laborious job in itself. Still, he has a passion for walking. He mainly cultivates sugarcane and onion on his three acres of agricultural land. His two daughters got married while the son studies in class 12th, who also helps in farming in his spare time. Dyandev himself could study up to 12th standard only. By the age of 40, he was suffering from seizures, due to which he could not find any suitable job. Presently he gets up at 4 in the morning and walks on the road near the village for about two hours every day. He is also very conscious in the matter of food intake and consumes 70 percent of the diet in raw form, including vegetables and fruits. Rest 30 percent of the diet is mostly boiled food. Every night he soaks pulses, peanuts and almonds in water, which he eats in the morning, before leaving for a walk.

Heaviest slime made by siblings 10

India Book of Records | April 2022

P

une-based siblings, 14-years-old Adya Anand Chordia, and 16-years-old Adi Anand Chordia received recognition in the Asia Book of Records (ABR) and India Book of Records (IBR), in their attempt for preparing and displaying the largest Slime, a kind of flexible toy. They set both the records at their home in Pune, Maharashtra, where they made and showcased a total of 23.4 kg slime in 11.30 seconds. Mr Anand Chordia, kids’ father, said, “Adi and Adya are very sincere, fun-loving, and creative children. They worked really hard for this record-breaking activity. The best part of this joint project is spending such time together and developing a strong bonding between siblings. Both the kids always make us feel proud.” At a very young age, Adya and Adi have understood that mental health is crucial to our well-being. Recognizing that people have been more stressed than ever in today’s world, the Chordia siblings have also started Slime Therapy at their home. To overcome this global health crisis, they conduct free workshops with people of any age and teach them how to make slimes. Slime has the potential to help people who suffer from anxiety, depression, and other disorders. It serves as a temporary distraction from a person’s emotions and stress, which helps to be better equipped to manage their stress. While slime is known

for being a children’s toy, Adya and Adi also educate about the advantages of slime and how it helps soothe any anxious or stressful thoughts. Not only this but, the siblings have also distributed the slime that they prepared for the Asia and India Book of Records to the underprivileged kids’ schools as their small contribution in fighting mental illness caused by stress and anxiety. Slime is a toy product, sold in a plastic trash can and it was first introduced in February 1976 by Mattel. It consists of a non-toxic viscous, squishy and oozy green or other color material made primarily from guar gum. Children can make different shapes with the slime expressing their creative side. It gives a lot of freedom to create whatever you can think in your mind. Adya and Adi became eligible to enter in Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records 2023 edition after a successful attempt as per guidelines and criteria given by the IBR team. Adi Anand Chordia said, “This record became possible only because my father and mother have been very supportive to us in all that we do. We look forward to doing many more things together. We feel spending a lot of time on digital gadgets builds a lot of mental stress and it’s not healthy for the body also. These small little objects like Slime, help a lot in de-stressing and bringing the mind to balance.”

A Cyclist with a Passion for Speed

12

India Book of Records | April 2022

T

he record for being the fastest to cover 100 km by cycling was set by G D Vishnuraam of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He cycled 100 km in 2 hours 55 minutes, starting from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and ending the attempt in Thrissur, Kerala, on February 23, 2022. Mr Vishnuraam completed his endurance cycling record with the aim to raise awareness of vaccination drive against Covid-19. The record breaking attempt, which started from Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET), Coimbatore, was flagged off by R.Sudhakar, IPS (IGP West zone, Tamil Nadu) along with Sri Krishna Institution Chairperson and Managing Trustee, S. Malarvizhi and Trustee K. Adithya. From SKCET, Vishnuraam took the Coimbatore Palakkad – Kuthiran Tunnel route to Thrissur. He concluded the attempt at the Police Commissioner Office, Thrissur and was felicitated by Aadhithya IPS (Commissioner of Police, Thrissur city). Vishnuraam says cycling has no age limit. Anyone from 8 years to 80 years of age can pedal for good health, as cycling improves overall fitness. “However, your lungs should be clean for this hobby. People who smoke a lot have problems in their lungs, which is bad for cycling. It helps in managing sugar level and blood pressure,” says the 40-year old champion, who runs a play school for a living. He has also been recognised by the Asia Book of Records (ABR) and the India Book of Records (IBR) earlier for cycling from Coimbatore to Kanyakumari via Salem, Karur and Madurai in 23 hours 53 minutes. His other record was about covering

the maximum distance by a car (Hyundai Creta) within 24 hours on July 6, 2021. According to Vishnuraam, to be fit and healthy one needs to be physically active. Regular physical activity can help protect one from serious diseases such as obesity, heart disease, cancer, mental illness, diabetes and arthritis. Riding a bicycle regularly is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of health problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Cycling is a healthy, lowimpact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from young children to older adults, as there is no age restriction. It is also fun, cheap and good for the environment. An estimated one billion people ride bicycles every day – for transport, recreation and sport all over the world. Cycling is a good way to control or reduce weight, as it raises metabolic rate, builds muscle mass and burns body fat. If someone is trying to lose weight, cycling must be combined with a healthy eating plan. Cycling is a comfortable form of exercise and one can change the time and intensity. Research suggests that one should be burning at least 2,000 calories a week through exercise. Steady cycling burns about 300 calories per hour. British research shows that a 30 minutes cycling every day will burn nearly five kilograms of fat over a year. Regular cycling stimulates and improves heart, lungs and blood circulation, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, which include stroke, high blood pressure and heart attack. Cycling strengthens heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels. Research also shows that people who cycle to work have two to three times less exposure to pollution than car commuters, so their lung function is improved.

Post Offices on Same Day. However, 85 special postal covers could be issued in a single day, which ultimately made a record. The covers were permitted and issued successfully thus making it a ‘Single Subject commemorated by Special Covers issued on Single Day from the highest number of different post offices’. Acharya Shri Vidyasagarji Maharaj is a Digambar Jain Acharya. He is recognized both for his scholarship and austerity. He is known for his long hours in meditation. While he was born in Karnataka and took deeksha (spiritual discipline) in Rajasthan, he generally spends much of his time in the Bundelkhand region where he is credited with having brought about a revival in educational and religious activities. He has written haiku poems and the epic Hindi poem Mukamati.

Vidyasagarji was born on 10th October 1946 during the full moon (Sharad Purnima) in Sadalga, in Belgaum district of Karnataka, in a Kannada speaking Jain family. The modest house where he was born is now a temple and a museum. His childhood name was Vidyadhar. He was the second of four sons, the eldest son being Mahavira Ashtage. As a child, he was fond of eating fresh butter which was used to make ghee. He was not a demanding child and accepted what was given to him. Vidyadhar used to visit temples and teach his younger siblings the principles of religion. He called both younger sisters ‘Akka’ (elder sister). He was attentive and was eager to undertake his studies. In his spare time he used to paint. He was initiated as a Digambar Acharya in 1968 at the age of 22 by Acharya Gyansagar, who belonged to the lineage of Acharya Shantisagar, at Ajmer. He was elevated to the Acharya status in 1972. An Acharya does not eat salt, sugar, fruits, milk, oil, ghee, in addition to what is traditionally prohibited (like onions). He goes out for a meal at about 10 am and takes food once a day in the palm of his hand. In 1999, then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee paid a visit to Acharya Ji during his visit to Gomatgiri, Indore. Acharya Vidyasagar’s Chaturmas (four-month stay) in 2016 was in Bhopal, where he was accompanied by 38 munis. He gave

his Pravachana in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly by special invitation from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on 28 July 2016. In 2016, during a trip to Bhopal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited him. He was also visited by Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is currently the Union Minister for Civil Aviation. Not only this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared the State Guest Honour to Vidyasagarji Maharaj.

the multiple snake cubes into different shapes within a minute. Parents lovingly call him Tiju. Tiju (born on November 24, 2013) has a special ability to solve all the different types of cubes. He is very much attracted to puzzles. The boy created a record for making the maximum number of shapes with a Snake Cubes puzzle. He made six shapes with Snake Cubes including rocket, ball and sword in one minute at the age of 7 years, 10 months and 28 days. His dad, Badrinath, works as a Consultant in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and is always supportive and encouraging Tiju in whatever he wants to do. Tiju spends more time with his Dad, as both are curious and go deep in learning any new thing or concept. Dad is his best friend who explains everything and also plays with him. His mother, Aishwarya Lakshmi, an ex banker, is so caring, encouraging and supportive to all of Tiju’s needs. She currently is taking full time care of Tiju. However, earlier she had been working with Lakshmi Vilas Bank for around four years in the capacity of an Assistant Manager. She takes Tiju to the garden and other public places where he can meet and interact with other children.

Watching her son immersed in all sorts of dinosaurs, Ms Aishwarya thinks that one day Tiju would definitely become a Paleontologist as the child keeps exploring about dinosaurs in whatever free time he gets. He has so many dinosaurs around him in the

form of toys, books and fossils. He is also extremely passionate in the things he does. The child is in 3rd standard at the European School and has been a topper in the class, who loves to explore new things on the Internet. Tiju is especially interested in all types of mind games. He possesses different types of Snake Cubes. For the record he used the 24 pieces snake cube, however, he also plays with the 72 pieces cube, informed Ms Aishwarya. The snake cube is a mechanical puzzle, a chain of 27 or 64 cube-lets, connected by an elastic band running through them. The cube-lets can rotate freely. The aim of the puzzle is to arrange the chain in such a way that they will form a 3×3×3 or 4×4×4 cube.

This book exposes the horrific purpose through the stories of 72 Covid-19 infected patients, who were part of the case study at Ahmednagar N.I.C.E Centre. You cannot afford to miss reading the book, especially if you know that not knowing the truth may risk you and your child becoming the victim of the conspiracy. Sit-ups on the T

he record for performing the maximum number of situps on the top of a football was set by Pramod P. D. (born on December 20, 1983) of Idukki, Kerala. Being 70 per cent locomotor disabled, he performed 5 sit-ups balancing his body while standing on a football for 29 seconds. 37-year-old Kerala resident Pramod P. D. does not have his both hands since childhood, yet he plays football amazingly. Not only playing, he is also India’s first handicapped football coach, which is a huge thing and an inspirational fact in itself. Often healthy people do not try much and make excuses even after having all their limbs intact. They give up before trying and blame someone else when they meet failure. But this is not the case with Pramod P. D. who keeps smiling all the while and is full of life despite odds. For Pramod P. D., even doing small and routine works from morning to evening is a very troublesome task. His right hand is bent and is partially functional. While training the children in the football

Top of a

Football ground, he holds his whistle with the same hand, puts on socks with a little effort and somehow ties his shoelaces cleverly, all with the same partially function right hand. Watching Pramod play and juggle with football is an interesting experience in itself. There is a wonderful coordination in both his legs and he beautifully balances the football with his feet in such a way that is unimaginable for normal guys. Pramod is full of energy and has won many medals and awards for his wonderful football playing skills. People must have heard the story of Mexican Juan Marquez Nieto, who traveled 1240 miles for 56 days with a football on his head. However, Juan’s motive behind this balancing act was to give the message of ending violence in Mexico. But it is no less exciting to see Pramod P. D. from Kerala doing sit-ups on the top of a football with both feet. The activity and the record will be published in the next edition of the India Book of Records. Pramod says that balance is an important quality of any football player, and it is something that all professionals seek to develop in order to maintain their skills. The ability to maintain balance protects the player from falling on sharp turns.

The multi-lingual classroom robot

D

inesh Kunwar Patel, a scientist and educator, has developed the world’s first artificially intelligent social and educational humanoid robot - ‘Shalu’ that can speak 47 languages including 9 Indian and 38 foreign languages. The humanoid robot was made with domestic waste materials. He is posted as a PGT (Computer Science) at Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Bombay, and his family considers Shalu as their daughter. Born in Jaunpur, UP, Dinesh did his BSc in Biology from the University of Allahabad, followed by a master’s degree in computer application (MCA). His first job was with a software company, which he found quite boring, as he loves sharing his knowledge with others. So, he quit the job and became a computer science teacher. Currently he is posted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Bombay, in Mumbai. After watching a Rajinikanth starrer ‘Robot’ movie, he got inspired to build a humanoid robot. Sophia Robot, developed by a Hong Kong based robotics firm, also motivated to keep working on the project. The biggest challenge was to find the required components at an affordable price, which was not possible. Therefore, he used waste materials available in the house and few components readily available in the local market like plastic, cardboard, thermocol, wood, cloths, wire, aluminum, etc. With proper research, he started his project ‘Humanoid Robot Shalu’ in 2017, working in his free time. It took him 3 years to give it a presentable shape. Robot Shalu was awarded with the ‘Most Innovative use of Science & Technology’ for the year 2021 by Jagran Josh Education Awards. Shalu is included in the Computer Science syllabus for class 6th of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Robot Shalu, popularly known as ‘Apni Robo Shalu’ on social media, is capable of speaking in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Bangla, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Nepali along with 38

foreign languages including English, German, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Latin and Korean. Dinesh has deep interest in theatre and poetry. He has done Prabhakar course in Tabla and has published his poems. He wants to motivate the world for innovation and creativity. In his school days he used to get appreciation for writing multiple names on a single grain of rice. For this micro writing he developed his own thin pen by sharpening the tip of a fountain pen nib. His art got a mention in Surabhi, a weekly popular show on Doordarshan. Dinesh believes that idea is important and not the execution. Useful models can be developed with a smaller amount using the waste materials. He himself spent hardly 50 thousand rupees on the world-famous Robot Shalu. He thinks that one should have a passion and creativity for new things. Everything is possible if passion is there. Robot Shalu has a lot of scope of further development, says Dinesh, adding that “the present model is hardly 20 percent of the total work, which is likely to be done in the coming time. The present model is of the basic level. Still this robot is capable of teaching children in the classroom. It can give answers and can teach with the help of the PPT slides.”

When asked about the source of inspiration for creating the record, Vibha said that she was in touch with some students around the house who were doing a Bachelor of Visual Arts course. They kept sketching everything around. From there she got the idea of making a series of portraits and applying for the record. Thus the collection came into being. She worked tirelessly and the hard work paid off well.

Vibha is interested more in social subjects. In future, instead of science or commerce, she will prefer to pursue further studies from the arts side. Father Balakrishna Shetty is a farmer and mother Mallika Shetty takes care of the family and the house. Due to the blessings and cooperation from both of them, Vibha has been able to make her mark today. Vibha is a native of Padumarnad village in Mangalore district.
