UIW At A Glance Founded Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Type Private, four-year, coeducational college of the liberal arts and sciences, rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition. UIW is the largest Catholic university in the Southwest and the fourth largest private institution in Texas. Campus Our idyllic 154-acre campus features beautifully landscaped grounds, trees, flowers and classic architecture, and is just minutes from downtown San Antonio in Alamo Heights. Students Close to 9,000 students. The student-tofaculty ratio is 14:1, and the average class size is approximately 25.

Academic Programs Nearly 80 undergraduate and graduate programs of study in a variety of fields.

Residential Life Ten student dormitories featuring single, double, and triple living All residences are wired and wireless, and each provides basic cable and telephone service. Meals are served at four dining locations.

Study Abroad More than 115 study abroad programs in 38 countries. Students can spend a summer, semester, or year studying abroad and receive academic credit.

Accreditation UIW is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate‘s, bachelor‘s, master‘s, and doctoral degrees.

Diversity Students from 63 countries attend UIW.

Athletics UIW competes in NCAA Division II, fielding 19 teams in 12 different sports as a member of the Lone Star Conference. The University’s exciting move to NCAA Division I begins in 2013. Student Life Over 70 clubs and organizations, ten fraternities and sororities, and a host of ministry, mission and leadership opportunities.
