Bad effects of nursing shoes 1. Shoes can cause infections Many women around the world enjoy decades of amazing pedicures without any consequence. But, being a nurse who works exhausting 12-hour shifts only increases the risk of getting infected. Moreover, if you have cuts or wounds on your legs, working in uncomfortable shoes will not only raise the risk of infection, but also make your day a lot worse. 2. Wearing cramped shoes You’ve probably experienced wearing shoes that are too tight in the toe area and don’t let your toes stretch out. This could lead to hammer toe over time. The good thing is that you can do various toe exercises to stretch them out. Swelling, redness, and discomfort sometimes accompany already aforementioned hammer toe, which can be easily treated by wearing more comfortable shoes, applying cold packs, and simply resting your feet.
