Roskilde Viking Tour (6 hrs)
Drive south through the industrialized area of Copenhagen and out into the verdant farm country heading south for Roskilde, situated at the end of the Roskilde Fjord. As the former Capital of Denmark, Roskilde played an important part in the Early Middle Ages. Visit the great Roskilde Cathedral (Entrance fee included), which was built in 1182 and where Danish kings and queens are buried. The Cathedral was put on UNESCO’s cultural heritage list in 1995 and is well worth a visit. After lunch we visit the ultra modern Viking Ship Museum (Entrance fee Included), which displays the five ships excavated from the Roskilde Fjord. It is believed they were sunk in an attempt to prevent the approaching enemy from entering the fjord. Today, carefully restored, they are one of the most important Viking finds in Denmark. The group will view a 14 minute film on the find prior to visiting the museum exhibition. Afterwards, before the drive back to Copenhagen, there is time to browse through the various workshops on the museum site – where craftsmen are making tools, boats etc. using the same methods used during the viking period. Funen, Odense & Hans Christian Andersen (10hrs)
Meet the private coach and driver at the hotel and start your 1 day’s tour to Fyn (Funen), referred to as The Garden of Denmark. You will cross the Store Bælt/Great Belt Bridge (1998) which connects the two main islands. Continue to Odense, the main town on the Island Funen. Upon arrival the group will meet with private guide and begin 3 hours city sightseeing of Odense. H.C. Andersen is Funen’s most famous son and there is something for both the young and the young at heart at Fyrtøjet – a cultural house for children next door to the H.C. Andersen’s Museum (Entrance fee included). The tour Will also include a visit at H.C. Andersens Childhood House (Entrance fee included). This small museum demonstrates the poverty of the home and tells the story of a poor life in Odense early 1800's. The exhibition also Includes H.C. Andersen's recollections of his childhood home. After lunch the coach will transfer you to the magical Egeskov Castle (Entrance fee included). Egeskov Castle is one of Europe’s best preserved renaissance Island-castles, built on a foundation of oak rafts rammed down into a lake. It was built in 1554 and the massive walls have secret staircases and embrasures for the castles defense. The grounds contain mazes and museums filled with relics of bygone times. Legoland in JUTLAND – with 1 overnight in Billund (2 days)
Meet the private coach and driver to start one day’s tour in Jutland. You will cross the Store Bælt Bridge (1998) which connected the two main islands - Funen and Sealand. After 5 hrs drive you will arrive at the heart of Jutland and spoil your time in a real Lego world – Legoland Park! Since it was built in 1968, Legoland Park has given the land its near iconic status on the global tourism map. The Park is divided into eight different sections of Duplo Land, Imagination Zone, LEGOREDO Town, Adventure Land, Miniland, Pirate Land, Lego City, Knights Kingdom and Viking land, it ensures an exciting day ahead with fun unlimited for anyone visiting.
