A MESSAGE FROM IMPPA PRESIDENT MARLIN MILLER Hello IMPPA, My name is Marlin Miller, and I am the current president of IMPPA. I am very excited to attend the upcoming Indiana/Illinois convention and would like to encourage everyone who has any interest in learning more about the industry to attend. I feel it will be a great networking event for IMPPA to learn from other IN and IL processors. John’s Butcher Shop has a retail store with 32 feet of fresh meat cases, 10 doors of frozen products plus multiple other products not under refrigeration. We process deer but do very little custom processing due to not having a kill floor. We produce the majority of our own smoked products in house and also do some private label products for other companies. A big percentage of the products we produce are shelf stable summer sausages, snack sticks, and jerky. Our products have won multiple state awards as well as a national award for bacon. My wife Anita and myself started attending IMPPA conventions soon after we purchased the shop, which has helped me tremendously, and I contribute a lot of the success to the people I’ve met and the things I’ve learned at these events.
