Looking back on the 2023/24 school year, I’m filled with a sense of excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to serve our incredible community Each new year brings with it new beginnings, and this one was especially meaningful as we returned to our cherished Impact traditions after the many challenges of COVID-19 over the past few years. Being back in school together felt like a gift, and I couldn’t be more proud of the dedicated team and enthusiastic scholars who are building something special with us.

Last year marked a significant milestone as we proudly opened our fourth school, Impact | Black River Elementary (I|BRE) in Renton. We have worked closely with our families and community partners to ensure that I|BRE reflects the values and hopes of our families. From an amazing ribbon-cutting, to deep partnerships with the local community, to being a finalist for the Best of Renton in our founding year, we built a community that truly cares for one another

I also want to share some exciting news about the academic progress our scholars have made We are the highest ranked charter elementary school in Math and Science in Western WA. Furthermore, Impact | Puget Sound Elementary students ranked fourth in ELA and Impact | Salish Sea Elementary students ranked third in Math among all King County elementary schools serving 60%+ low-income students

We’re especially proud of the deep work our team did over the past year, as they focused on researching literacy curriculum improvements. As a result, we made the important decision to fully align our curriculum with the Science of Reading This shift will ensure that every scholar has the strong foundation they need to excel as confident readers and learners.

In addition to academic progress, family satisfaction remains a key priority, and I’m happy to report that our families continued to express strong trust in the education and care we provided. Our partnership with No More Under, a nonprofit dedicated to swimming education, helped to ensure that every child receives extracurricular opportunities and thrives in a safe and supportive learning environment

We’re also excited to continue our Open Seat pilot program in collaboration with Impact | Puget Sound Elementary, which allows us to explore new ways to provide access to families who might otherwise not be able to attend our schools. This is just one of the many ways we’re striving to break down barriers and create more equitable opportunities for all.

Lastly, we made great strides in our efforts to de-silo special and general education We sent our first cohort of leaders to the All Means All program, a significant step in strengthening our inclusive practices. By deepening our understanding and leadership in this area, we aim to create a learning environment where every scholar’s needs are met with excellence and care

As we move forward, I am confident that together we will continue to nurture and inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change makers Thank you for your ongoing trust and partnership

ImpactCommunity Spotlight

I am incredibly proud of the remarkable achievements we’ve accomplished this year The dedication of our scholars, families, and educators has built a community where every child is empowered to succeed and reach their fullest potential

As both a board member and a mom of I|PSE scholars, I couldn't be prouder of what we've accomplished Seeing how this community helps children grow fills me with so much gratitude and excitement, knowing we're laying a strong foundation for their success and bright futures. I'm confident that the academic opportunities we’re creating will pave the way for their future achievements and help them thrive in whatever paths they choose.

At Impact, my child feels welcomed, respected and safe. Her teachers have been excellent in supporting her learning and I have seen positive progress over the years. I love that my child really enjoys her class, peers, and the staff at this school. We are in a diverse and caring school. As a parent, I have peace of mind sending my child off to school daily because I know she is in an environment where she is excelling and learning valuable skills for her future.

My son receives special education services. Impact goes above and beyond for my child. I love the way that school arranges for him to be in the classes that he needs. The school supports and helps my son with his behavior difficulties. Ms. Dampier is a very good teacher. She is very responsive, which allows me to get information about my child. My son loves Ms. Dampier and Mr. Toppe.
