ight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:12-16. Let us remember a general that was part of Napoleon’s troops. This man had lost parts of his body in battlefield. The story goes that Napoleon was on his horse reviewing his troops when he suddenly stopped before a man who had scars everywhere and had lost part of his body: a leg from the knee down –he had a piece of wood instead–, an eye; an

ear. Napoleon stared at the man, the one-eyed man stared back and stood to attention. Napoleon pointed him with the sword and told him, “There was a terrible battle in Waterloo…” Hitting the stump against the ground, the man replied, “There I was.” Napoleon asked again, “And in the occupation of Normandy?” “There I was”, said the main once more. For every battle Napoleon asked about, the man would hit the piece of wood against the ground and say: “There I was”. He had marks on his body to prove it, evidence of all the battles he had fought. Napoleon got off his horse, decorated him and put him as an example. There he was arranged in line of battle, the one-eyed man with some fingers less and a foot lost, saying with satisfaction “I was in every fight.” Beloved brothers, how many of you will have the satisfaction to say “There I was,” when Christ calls you to his presence and asks you, “In fasting and prayer? In collaboration and offering? In evangelization, visitation, holiness and testimony?” Could you proudly say, “There I was, Lord, with your help”? l January 2016 / Impacto evangelistic
