This design concept for this very talented individual required a nimbleness of thought, to transfer, what is very personal and intimate artwork into a commercially desirable product. Without diluting the very essence of the idea or losing her core base of diehard fans.
Adding in design elements such as rough textured edges and paint strokes to compliment the style of the artist’s work
A colour palette that reflects the colours used in her artwork to help tie everything together
Fausto De Martini is a wellrespected concept and digital artist, with credits on the film Avatar, Avengers, End Game and Predator.
Fausto has been developing a personal portfolio of ‘characters’ and felt the time was right to publish a book showcasing his unique artistry. On this assignment as his freelance designer, we have been working together to achieve layouts which best reflect his personality and talents.
The engraved feel to the front cover has a title in bold orange peel font together with the internal layout of small pictures portraying old school tools mixed with modern tooling
Taking on the role of an art director was essential to lay down a strong concept and finish. The book aimed at a readership who have a potential interest in the revival of craftsmanship and sustainability linked with the recycling of natural materials.
The overall project needs to appeal to a new generation of crafters to be clear and crisp with a magazine style, but retain the feel of old crafters handbooks. Seeing the book through from concept to finish was my most significant contribution, working along-side the printers to achieve a quality design finish. The book is marketed mainly online and required a sharp image of ‘cover that tells the story’ The texture and print of the paper was my most significant contribution to the project.
The presentation of copy and imagery in a text heavy or tutorial lead publication it is important that the information is broken down into manageable chunks with plenty of variation to keep readers engaged.
This book was created as a practical tool teaching readers traditional drawing techniques with added sections giving an insight into the artist. The main body of the book is made up from quickly sketched tutorials laid-out in an informal style with annotations to give direction into what the artist is teaching.
To further the sketchbook feel a free flow diecut half dust jacket has been used, the book itself has rounded corners. a ribbon marker and elasticated band.
Page and promotional graphics for the launch of a Kickstarter project. The brief was to create engaging visuals that will reflect the style of the artist and encourage viewers to back the project.
Developing an organisation’s identity is an important part of any marketing strategy. Although a logo is an integral part of any business’ branding, it’s important to consider the bigger picture, by creating a strong visual language the brand is recognisable regardless of whether or not the logo is visible..
I am a graphic designer with over 15 years’ experience, working in both freelance and in-house capacities to fulfil briefs and create high-quality designs.
I have a versatile design style so that I’m able to adjust the finished result following the audience requirements. I pride myself in working as efficiently as possible, problem-solving, managing my time and creating a streamlined workflow. Ready to take on new challenges.
I am incredibly hard-working, conscientious and diligent. I am calm in a high-pressure environment. I have a flexible and adaptable approach, and I enjoy working to meet needs on a project-by-project basis within existing teams to create the required deliverables.
