INTRODUCTION

Heyhey | Hi | Servus | Griaß de | Hello,

my name is Iris Mößner and I am originally from the beautiful medieval city Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. In 2018 I have packed all my stuff in Germany, moved to Salzburg and began my studies of Design and Product Management at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg. But before I moved to Salzburg, I have worked as an educator in different social institutions. So I can handle easily many different characters and working in Teams feels naturally and great for me.

I am a sporty nature-lover with lot‘s of humor and as an open, ambitious and cheerful person, I approach new things with motivation, commitment and inquisitiveness. So for me Kuchl was perfect for studying. There I have already found my passion in creative work.

After an internship at Audi and many university projects, I clearly discovered my passion in creating content, designing sustainable stuff and researching. At the University of Applied Sciences Joanneum in Graz I have been doing now my master in industrial design with a focus on eco design since fall 2021.

Since 20 October 2022 I am mum of a 2 year old daughter named Lotte and we have our home base in Kuchl, Salzburg, now.

The startup BENDEREI bends wooden bicycle components. They requested me to take product photos and videos. Further to plan, design, and develop product sketches, the design language, the CI, and the social media presence for the company. In collaboration, the first

selected sketches were used to build prototypes. Several iterations and experiences later, the company is now preparing a bottle cage model, a saddle model, and a bicycle bag model for series production.

LOGO DESIGN

The logo design is a classic diamond frame, which is one of the oldest and most popular types of bicycle frames among the BENDEREI target group. The logo font was designed based on the bending radii, which are classic and convertible in wood bending. The typeface is round and reflects the individuality of the company‘s products due to its creation. The empty bicycle frame shows that the BENDEREI will develop and manufacture bent products for existing bicycle frames and bicycle fans in the future.

Stylish curved and thirst quenching - with the thirstyNut the cyclist has his water bottle always within reach. The shape shows a simple, pure, natural and light bottle holder and also the curved bend of the European walnut veneer ensures that the bottle is always held noiselessly on the bike. With a twisting motion, it can be easily removed and immediately reinserted. The biological oil refines the surface, makes it shimmer and makes the thirstyNut resistant to bike-unfriendly weather.

The shape shows a road bike saddle ergonomically shaped and made of curved veneer, which is adapted to the seat bumps of the user. So it is possible to ride with the BENDEREI saddle for many hours and kilometers by bicycle without pain, chafing, and numbness problems. Despite its position under the butt, it cuts a fine figure. Combining European walnut with a steel saddle frame shows stability and lightness with a straightforward design. Its bio-oil finish gives it a supple patina that protects the wood. So it prevents spongy properties and does not soak up water if it does get a few raindrops.

The task in the 4th semester was to design a combination between a blender and a juicer, including technical function systems. The design had to attract the target group of a certain brand (secret) and had to include points like sustainable conception, easy cleaning and good repairability.

THE ENGINE FUNCTION OF THE BLENDER

The cylinder coil is no longer energized, which pulls the iron core and thus also the clutch by the spring into the outer position (larger gear wheel) By slowly „increasing“ the speed, the clutch can slide into the lower gear wheel practically without abrasion (synchronization). The „filter“ is driven in this way (speed depends on the transmission ratio)

THE ENGINE FUNCTION OF THE JUICER

The cylinder coil is energized, causing the iron core to press the clutch against the smaller (inner) gear wheel. By slowly „ramping up“ the speed, the clutch moves without abrasion into the upper gear. The Smoothie Maker is rotated (speed depends on transmission ratio).

NEW PRODUCT RANGE FOR MARELLI

In this project, a sustainable fan - based on the cradle to cradle principle should be designed for the Marelli company. In the process, the brand‘s new product category was to receive its own logo, a promotional video and a prototype with all technical functions.

Swarovski Optik. I had the task to design and develop a more sustainable Smart Kids Binocular, which grows with the child or which has a service concept like Woom behind it.

To design and sketch power tools, proportions and ergonomics are indispensable. Only with a lot of sketches and proto-

type testing you can combine colors, shapes, functions and ergonomic handling.

Each company has its own characteristics. But only a good designer, in collaboration with a whole team, transforms a product into a specific, individual and branded product. To find the shape of the design,

things from nature or from our product world can help. For me, such mental bridges are an important, inexhaustible box of ideas.

In my freetime I like to sketch different products, also mobility stuff. For me there is nothing better than to be able to read up on new topics and fields of knowledge again and again. That‘s the best way to create different sketches, build CAD models and see the customer satisfied with every project that is finished. These points are fascinating me and advance me in my work and also in my freetime.
